Curtis "Lil' Dog" Walker is having the worst night of his life. After putting in a hard day's work for the city of Calhoun, Virginia, and fussing with his live-in, gold-digging girlfriend "Downtown" Shae Brown, he doesn't need to find himself face-down in an alley with Delmar and Dickie Coles, notorious Vine Street thugs, pointing guns at him. “At least let me know why,” Curtis says. “Don’t know,” Delmar says. “Maybe somebody think you mighta seen something they didn’t want you to see ...” Curtis spits out some dirt and gravel. “This is what I saw all day! I swear!” Delmar squats in front of Curtis. “I believe you, cuz, and it’s a shame a working man like yourself has to die cuz somebody white and rich scared you mighta seen somethin’. Life is a risk, right?” Curtis stares at the ground. “I’m gonna die here, aren’t I?” Delmar nods. “’Fraid so.” MISTAKEN IDENTITIES is a multicultural crime comedy where the good can be bad, the bad can be badder, and the best can be the absolute worst.

I like the way J. J. Murray tells a story. There is usually humor, sassy women, and endearing ordinary men who are extraordinary in their ordinariness, if that makes sense (or is even a word). The character Shay to me had no redeeming qualities until late in the story; I just couldn't identity with her. Curtis, the main character, was a good man, stalwart, faithful but very naive about life, the judiciary process. I liked the way Mr. Murray made the bad guys hero's as well. Interesting story. I was wondering how Curtis was going to find redemption. Good characters all around. Good story.
I am a Huge fan of interracial romance books. I never read one written by a male before JJ Murray. I am a fan for life! His stories are so well written it's like someone verbally telling me a story. Everything flows so easily and keeps me captivated by the twists and turns as the story unfolds. His humor is awesome! Sometimes I'm in stitches while reading and my family just looks at me like I'm crazy.. love this writer!
I absolutely loved this book, it had me really laughing....out loud. I could not put it down, so entertaining, with amazing and memorable characters. A great storyline that is well developed, brilliantly detailed, well written and feels so real. I have no hesitation what so ever in reccomending this novel. A MUST read Thank you J J M 😁
This is a good read...started a little slow not picks up after second chapter. A very shady story about a dysfunctional couple, two hitmen, and a greedy wife. Loved this story.
This book was hilariously funny. The entire courtroom episode could have been an episode of Martin. Congrats to the author. I was looking for something different and something to keep my interest. This book hit the spot
Great Book, so many twists and turns, but gutter just like I like my books without the fake stuff. Everyboody know a lil hood white boy that goes with a dime peice from the hood so it's realistic. Sometimes the characters make are hard to like, like Shae, and Kimberly... but that's what a good book does, evokes emotion.
This is the first book I've read from this author, and I am very pleased, and even more pleased that he has an array of books written already so that I can get to reading. So that's all folks... on to the next one.
I really enjoyed this book. Curtis got the wrong end of the stick and things just started falling apart for him. After meeting Dickie and Del and convincing them not to kill him, he finds out things are a lot deeper than he thinks. Glad they caught up with Kimberly's sneaky ass
