The book is about a corporate take-over of an Ottawa-based company by one in Boston. A beautiful woman, Julia Chow, is sent with a dark past to oversee the transition. The Ottawa-based CEO, John Henry, stonewalls the acquisition.
Julia hits it off with a mid-level manager Rick Smith. John's daughter, Christine, also finds Rick attractive and they compete for his affections. CEO John Henry suffers a heart attack during a "date" with an escort. Julia is forced to take over the CEO position temporarily. The corporate head office decides to outsource the work to Japan and China. This set the stage for their rivalry and a plot that examines the role of women in both those countries, with international consequences.
The plot occurs in Ottawa, Quebec, as well as China and Japan and exposes their different approaches to business.

A very intriguing tech company Ottawa based romantic suspense novel. Characters are typical to their species. Unfortunately, too many like Christine and Mike. Really enjoyed Julia and Rick as characters as they were so real in their attitudes and actions... unfortunately. Maybe and encounter in a sequel?
