About the author

Italo Calvino was born in Cuba and grew up in Italy. He was a journalist and writer of short stories and novels. His best known works include the Our Ancestors trilogy (1952-1959), the Cosmicomics collection of short stories (1965), and the novels Invisible Cities (1972) and If On a Winter's Night a Traveler (1979).

His style is not easy to classify; much of his writing has an air reminiscent to that of fantastical fairy tales (Our Ancestors, Cosmicomics), although sometimes his writing is more "realistic" and in the scenic mode of observation (Difficult Loves, for example). Some of his writing has been called postmodern, reflecting on literature and the act of reading, while some has been labeled magical realist, others fables, others simply "modern". He wrote: "My working method has more often than not involved the subtraction of weight. I have tried to remove weight, sometimes from people, sometimes from heavenly bodies, sometimes from cities; above all I have tried to remove weight from the structure of stories and from language."

Pucér kissrácok azúrkék tengerbe csobbannak. Szikár paraszt öszvér háta mögött baktat. Az erdőben mohos szikla, mögötte partizán némán fegyvert szegez. Calvino elbeszéléseiben a szép és a piszkos gyakran szinonim, ami tragikusnak ígérkezik, néha komikumba fordul, ami pedig komikus, tragédiát rejt. A képek plasztikusak, ordítanak a filmvászonért, De Sica vagy Visconti rendezze őket, ha kérhetem. Ez a neorealizmus, életszag, harsány színek, és még egyszer: életszag. Még nem a késői calvinói abszurd elhajlások - amiket imádok -, de azért nagyon ígéretes kezdet egy pazar életműhöz.

(Megjegyzés másnap: ebben a könyvben láttam először leírva a szót, hogy "homoszekszuális". Picit fájt.)

Όπως και σε κάθε ανάγνωσμα που έχει πέσει στα χέρια μου, δεν μπορώ να αποφύγω να σχηματίζω στο μυαλό μου μια πιθανή τελική εντύπωση και βαθμολογία καθ' όλη τη διάρκεια της ανάγνωσης. Ειδικότερα όταν ένα βιβλίο αποτελείται από επιμέρους μικρότερα διηγήματα, είναι εύκολο με το πέρας κάθε ιστορίας να έχεις ήδη διαμορφώσει μία εμπεριστατωμένη άποψη για ένα ορισμένο μέρος του αναγνώσματος. Το συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο του αγαπημένου Ιταλού συγγραφέα με δυσκόλεψε πολύ στο να βγάλω κάποιο τελικό συμπέρασμα.

Όλα διηγήματα που με τον έναν ή τον άλλο τρόπο αναφέρονται στον πόλεμο, είτε στις τεταμένες μέρες είτε στη σιωπή που τον ακολούθησε. Διηγημάτα που προσεγγίζουν τις επιπτώσεις του πολέμου σε όλες τις πτυχές της ανθρώπινης ζωής, από τη συναισθηματική κατάσταση μέχρι της λεπτομέρειες της καθημερινής ζωής. Κάποια από αυτά παραπέμπουν άμεσα στον εκφραστικό πλούτο και στα λεξιλογικά και νοηματικά παιχνίδια των υπόλοιπων έργων του, άλλα εξέφραζαν ένα έντονα ανιστασιακό ιδεολογικό υπόβαθρο που συνήθως δεν είναι τόσο έκδηλο ενώ δεν υπήρχε μια σταθερότητα ως προς τις μορφικές αναζητήσεις ή ακόμη και στον τρόπο γραφής. Φυσικά κάτι τέτοιο είναι αναμενόμενο όταν πρόκειται για διηγήματα που ανήκουν στην πρώτη δημιουργική λογοτεχνική φάση του Italo Calvino, που όμως φαίνεται δεν είχε κατασταλάξει στο προσωπικό του ύφος και στυλ.

Ως αποτέλεσμα, θα μπορούσα να βαθμολογήσω τα επιμέρους διηγήματα από 3 μέχρι 4 αστεράκια και ίσως 1-2 να αγγίζουν τα 5 αστεράκια και μαζί την μαγεία που μετέδωσε για παράδειγμα η ανάγνωση των διηγημάτων της συλλογής "Πάλομαρ". Έτσι καταλήγουμε και στα 3,5 αστέρια, χωρίς βέβαια αυτό να αποτελεί αιτία να μην διαβάσει κάποιος τη συγκεκριμένη συλλογή, που σίγουρα συντελεί στην πιο ολοκληρωμένη εμπειρία ανάγνωσης του έργου του Ιταλού συγγραφέα.

151st book of 2023.

I've read all of Calvino's novels so when this new translated collection came into work, I grabbed it as a greedy completionist. I'm yet to read all his Cosmicomics, but this is essentially an updated version of the already published Adam, One Afternoon. So, some of those stories reappear, but some new ones are also thrown into the mix, I guess, making this a worthwhile publication. I'm tempted to say that just for this book's cover, too.

Anyway: these are early Calvino stories so not quite the postmodernist games of his later efforts. A few have a soft fanaticism to them, like The Baron in the Trees. These stories are sweet and pastoral. The back half of the collection is closer to his first novel, The Path to the Spider's Nest and deal principally with the Second World War and the spreading fascism. A lot of them are enjoyable enough but they are all a little immature in their resolutions, mostly ending in death. For example, one man picks his way through a minefield for four pages, fearing the moment he steps on a mine, and in the end he does and blows up. Another is a sort of chase that ends in a gunfight. After a series of these, you pretty much come to expect the inevitable capture and death that ends each story. I prefer the fantastical ones, and just as well, because Calvino's career leans into that for the rest of his life.

زن و مرد باغداری که میخوان از میوه‌های باغشون دربرابر دزدی فقیرترها محافظت کنن؛ فقری که نسل اندر نسل منتقل می‌شه؛ عضو خانواده‌ای که کشته می‌شه و حقیقت جنگ رو به پارتیزان‌های جوان نشون می‌ده؛ مواجهه با مرگی اجتناب‌ناپذیر‌ در اسارت؛ برخورد پیری با جنگ و مرگ (که این یکی تاثیرگذارترین داستان برای من بود، پیرمردی که شاید پیر بودنش باعث می‌شه ترسی از جنگ و مرگ نداشته باشه و با ظاهر فرتوتش، قو‌ی‌تر از‌ هر‌ سرباز جوانی ظاهر می‌شه)؛ پیرمرد فقیری که برای یک روز خودشو میان لباس‌های گرون‌قیمت دفن می‌کنه؛ انتقام مردم از‌‌ قاضی‌ای ستمگر؛ و در انتها یک مین، که از مهمونی سران رده بالای نظامی سر‌ در میاره.

دو داستان دیگه هم داره که خط داستانیشونو نمی‌گم.

در کل جزو کارهای خیلی محبوب من از کالوینو نبود؛ اما‌ خوندنش خالی از‌ لطف نبود چون روحیه خلاق (موقعیت‌های منحصر به فرد) و نثر زیبای کالوینو‌ رو داشت، اما شاید نه به قوت کارهای دیگه‌اش.

Calvino ha scritto la maggior parte di questi racconti a poco più di 20 anni. Non mi viene in mente nessun altro che così giovane abbia scritto così bene. Certo, non tutti i racconti sono efficaci ed emozionanti, ma ci sono alcuni gioiellini davvero imperdibili. La resistenza vista dall'interno, piccoli partigiani, piccole pedine in una partita così grande da fagocitarli e trascinarli nel dimenticatoio, viene narrata in modo delicato, semplice, intimo.

Adam, One Afternoon is a world of fable created with Calvino’s unerring precision on human reality. I always have discomfort with novels which sound inconclusive or end abruptly. For the same reason, I kept the book aside after reading the first two stories. On introspection, I realized my folly that human emotion, condition and thoughts do not have latitude. The breadth and depth of a cryptic memory may be infinite but in reality, the power of tragedy is that it pulls out an alternative reality card even before you have attended to first one. So, I picked the book again and here and hence flitted by.

This collection reflects the author’s inventiveness; the characters of each vignette are well developed and detailed. A magical quality- of rawness, surprise and subtleties-in the flight of a crow, leap of a stray cat, taste of the cake walks through these tales. Calvino’s allegorical touch renders fiction timelessness.

The stories are varied and very readable. My favorite ones are (in the order they titles appear): The Cat and The Policeman (thoughtful to the brim), Leaving again shortly (crude), Theft in the cake shop (hilarious), Seen in Canteen (provocative) and Adam one afternoon (enchanting). This is my first book by Calvino. His strength is his economy of words and subtlety; rollicking stories on the surface with grimness underneath.

I recommend this book to those who would like to be introduced to Italo Calvino’s writing. I will reserve a 4-5 star rating for his other books, where there will be no scope of disliking a 'part of the whole'.

جز کارهای خیلی خیلی خیلی معمولی کالوینو به حساب می‌آد. به‌نظرم بعضی قصه‌ها جذاب بودن و بعضی نه. همه‌شون موقعیت‌های جالبی داشتن، اما پرداخت‌ها خیلی شگفت‌انگیز نبود و فقط و فقط هنر قصه‌گویی کالوینو بود که باعث می‌شد با داستان همراه شیم.
و کاش مترجم و ناشر شعوری در حد درک حداقل سواد ابتدایی فارسی نوشتن داشته‌باشن تا کلمه‌ای مثل «مثه» توی کتاب‌ها دیده نشه. غلط دیکته‌ای رواج ندید، کیفیت ترجمه پیشکش!

La Valle Argentina, la Val Nervia, la Val Bevera attraverso i sentieri partigiani. È la scrittura stessa a battere quei territori, impastata com'è nell'entroterra ligure - "la stessa cosa del sangue", per riprendere il titolo di uno dei racconti qui contenuti (forse il mio preferito). I racconti della Resistenza sono il nocciolo della raccolta, ma non posso non citare anche "Furto in una pasticceria", gioioso nella sua strampalata anarchia.

Absurd, realis, cantik. Terdiri dari 12 cerpen yang sebagian besar bikin garuk-garuk kepala, "ini lagi bahas apa sih?"

Cerpen pertama yang juga dijadiin judul buku, menceritakan tentang tukang kebun yang menawarkan 'hadiah-hadiah' ganjil ke Maria-nunziata, pembantu di rumah yang sama. Hadiah yang ditolak mentah-mentah oleh gadis belia asal Calabria itu. Hadiah yang kemudian menunjukkan diri di hadapannya. Cerpen ini kalau dipikir-pikir seolah menggambarkan ulang adegan ketika Adam sendirian berkelana di Firdaus sambil memahami banyak sekali benda, jauh sebelum ia bertemu Ibu Hawa. Bedanya Adam di sini tidak jenuh dan bersemangat menunjukkan hal-hal menarik pada Hawa.

Sebenarnya aku tidak terlalu yakin pada penafsiranku sendiri dan begitulah perjalananku sepanjang menamatkan Adam, Suatu Senja. Tapi yang pasti gaya bahasanya cantik sekali. Terjemahannya juga oke. Aku lumayan memanen kosa kata baru dari kumcer ini. Mungkin kapan-kapan kalau dirasa butuh asupan cerita nyeleneh yang unik, aku akan membaca ulang beberapa cerpen di dalamnya.

إنه لمن الجيد الإطلاع على كل هذا الزخم في كتاب واحد
طبعا الكتاب لم يعرض قصصا قصيرة لإلياتو كاليفينو فقط بل تجاوز
ذلك إلى 16 كاتبا وكاتبة من أماكن مختلفة

أكثر ما رسخ ببالي هو الفكرة التي بني عليها نص " قصة معكوسة"
لإلسي إيشنجر .. الأمر كان يشبه فلماً قصيرا يبدأ من النهاية ويعود بك في تصوير سريع جدا ولقطات متشابكة إلى لحظة البداية
التي تنتهي بنقطة الضوء التي يتشارك فيها المواليد الجدد والمقبلون على الموت في النزع الأخير . نص بارع

على الجانب الآخر قرأت في هذا الكتاب لأول مرة
قصة قصيرة من الهند للكاتب روث جافابالا ..نص قصصي حي وحيوي يخبرك الكثير من خلال الحوارات المداخلة بين الأربع شخوص التي تواجدت في ذات المكان وذات الوقت ..
هذا الأمر كان من الممكن أن يأتي مربكاً لولا براعة الكاتب في توظيف الحوارات باتقان.



أخيراً هناك تفاوت في مستويات الترجمة التي وزعت بين مترجمين اثنين
كان يمكن تلافي هذا الأمر لو اقتصرت الترجمة على شخص منفرد .. لتلافي التشتت في الأساليب التي نقلت من خلالها
الأعمال إلى العربية .

If you find yourself needing a more pleasant read in these weird times, I can’t recommend Calvino enough. He basically writes fairly tales for grown ups. In this collection the stories are short and sweet, though often edgy. They mystified and delighted me and revived my sense of the beauty and strangeness in all that surrounds us. On the surface he delights, but there’s also often the impression of sheer amazement at the atrocities humans are responsible for, and on a smaller scale at all our human pettinesses. In some of the darker stories the lightness of the honeyed prose and the comic vision operates like a shield, or it’s almost as if he’s mocking the dark side of humanity, serving our absurdity back to us with love and generosity. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Calvino is magic.

بعض القصص جيدة وممتعة او غريبة والبعض الأخر لم افهم مغزاه
أحببت قصص بورخيس او بورخز كما تم ترجمة اسمه
ومن أكثر القصص التي جذبت انتباهي "وردة من أجل إيميلي" لـ وليم فوكنر
لم اتوقع تلك النهاية الغريبة الصادمة
وأيضًا "قصة معكوسة" لـ إلسي ايشنجر
استطاعت ببراعة ان تحكي الحدث بشكل عكسي ما بين الموت والحياة بطريقة لا تستغربها وكأنها تحكي الأمر بشكل طبيعي وعادي

هذه المجموعة رحلة بين عوالم هؤلاء المؤلفين، قصص وطرق سرد مختلفة بترجمة جيدة
تعرفك على كتاباتهم، كما تعرفك بسيرة مبسطة عن كل كاتب منهم

تجربة ممتعة ومفيدة لمحبي القصص القصيرة :)

آدم ذات ظهيرة

هنا تتعرفون، معشر القراء، على كتابات العمالقة. إيطالو كالفينو، وليام فوكنر، خورخي لويس بورخيس، فيتزجيرالد و آخرين (ستة عشر كاتبا) من خلال تسعة عشر قصة ترجمها باقتدار كل من إلياس فركوح و مؤنس الرزاز. (هذا إذا استثنينا بعض الأخطاء البشعة التي أضن أنها أخطاء في التحرير فقط)
تتقدم كلَ قصةٍ، ورقةٌ تعريفية باسم الكاتب و أشهر أعماله.

آدم ذات ظهيرة: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
قصة عن العودة للطبيعة يمثلها ليبيرسو ذو الاسم و المظهر الغريب و المحب للكائنات في الطبيعة. في مقابل ماريا-نانزيتا الخادم المرتبطة بمساحة المنزل و التي تشعر بالقرف من هذه الكائنات التي يهديها لها ليبيرسو.
قصة لطيفة.
وردة من أجل إيميلي:⭐⭐⭐
في فترة ما-بعد الحرب الأهلية الأمريكية، تتبع هذه القصة سيرة حياة شخصية قلقة لسيدة من عائلة مرموقة تتداعى الاحداث على إزعاجها فتعتزل المجتمع برمته. صلة وصلها الوحيدة، زنجي كتوم، يوفر حاجيات المنزل من بقالة. تزهد السيدة إميلي حتى في تنظيف بيتها الفخم، فترتفع الألسنة بالثرثرات و الغيبة و يطالبها البعض بالتنظيف و دفع ما عليها من ضرائب.
بعد سنوات من العزلة، يتسابق الجميع لحضور جنازتها و إلقاء نظرة على هذا المنزل المليء بالأسرار فيكتشفون جثة.
أنَّـــا الشاحبة⭐⭐⭐
قصة عن ماضي الأحداث، عن الذاكرة و عن تغير الناس. مجند عائد من الجبهة بعد انتهاء الحرب، يسكن في نزل من نوع ما. صاحبة النزل ثكلى فقدت ابنها في الحرب و تعرض صوره على صاحبنا، فيكتفي بتذكر أنَّــــا فيسأل عنها صاحبة النزل التي تجيب أنها قد تغيرت كثيرا إثر ندوب لحقت بصفحة وجهها (لن تتعرف عليها).
قصة معكوسة⭐
تتابع الحدائق ⭐
قصة في صفحتين عن عاشقين يأتمران لارتكاب جريمة لن تحدث. هكذا حدث في الرواية التي قرأها رجل الأعمال.
ليست قصة ذات شأن، و ليست بتلك التي.
الأسير ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
الساحر، خورخي لويس بورخيس (مستاء جدا من تسميته هنا جورج)
يحتاج لصفحة واحدة ليثير كل إعجاب لديك.
غارة هندية تنتهي بفقدان ولد صغير يتوه سنوات، يحذوا والداه امل بالعثور عليه، فيواصلان البحث حتى يعثرا على رجل ذي عنين زرقاوين عاش حياة بدائية في الخلاء، يعود أخيرا للبيت مبرهنا حقا أنه الإبن الموفقود و لكن يعود للبرية غير قادر على المكوث محاصرا بالجدران.
بورخيس و أنا⭐⭐⭐⭐
لنفس الكاتب، أعيد قراءة هذه القصة مرات و مرات. إنها لعبة مرايا يختلط فيها الوقعي بالروائي.
هو بورخيس، الشخصية الروائية يكتب قصة عن نفسه أو عن أناه الآخر (بورخيس، الكاتب المعروف) عن الاختلافات و التشابهات........ او ربما هو بورخيس الكاتب الذي يخط هذه الأسطر؟!
لا أعرف...... و لا حتى بورخيس نفسه يعرف.

متاهتا المَلِكَيْن⭐⭐⭐⭐
بورخيس مرة ثالثة، يطالعنا هنا بهرطقة ملك بابل الذي يريد أن يقتحم ما هو حكر فقط على الإله. أراد بناء متاهة أشبه بالمعجزة أهان بها ملك العرب بأن أدخله إليها ليتوه.
ينتقم الملك العربي بأن يترك ملك بابل يتوه في الصحراء.
متاهة، من خلق الله.

باربرة السائقة، تسوق بسرعة شيطانية هاربة من زوجها و بدون اتجاه، هاربة لأن الصمت يغري الجدران بها فتقترب أكثر منها مضيقة الخناق،.....
لغة شاعرية و تصاوير أدبية مرهفة.
الغرفة المفروشة ⭐⭐🌟⭐⭐
شاب عاشق، يقتفي أثر ممثلة مسارح جميلة شقراء، فيكتري غرفة مفروشة وضيعة بائسة، لكنه يستنطقها فتبوح له بأسرار زوارها السابقين إلى أن يسمع إحداهن تناديه..... كان هذا صوت نبات البليحاء العطرية الفواح
يقع أخيرا على ما يوحي له بمصير محبوبته، فينتحر مختنقا بالغاز،.......... كما فعلت حبيبته، آخر من سكن الشقة قبله.
الحرب ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+ 🌟🌟
نص فاخر و حجج تضحض أخرى في حوار أجراه مجموعة من الآباء المفجوعين بأبنائهم الذين قضوا في الجبهة. سباق بين المتحاورين بشأن أيهم حلت بساحته أكبر الفواجع، من مات عنه وحيده أم من فقد أحد ولديه.
تناقش القصة حب الوطن مقارنة بحب الأبناء/الآباء، و ما هو الدافع الحقيقي لإنجاب الأبناء.

Όσο αυστηρός και να θέλω να είμαι, ποτέ δεν έχω κάτι να πω εναντίον του Ίταλο Καλβίνο. Ο λυρισμός του μου χαμογελά, οι ιδέες του με αιχμαλωτίζουν.
Θα έλεγα σπονδυλωτά αυτά τα διηγήματα. Δεν έχουν τον φιλοσοφικο πλούτο των μετέπειτα έργων του, αλλά έχουν φοβερές ιστοριες. Όπως ο κρατούμενος στο στρατόπεδο συγκέντρωσης (σ.116) που προσπαθώντας να βρει ένα νόημα, θεωρεί ότι τα ράτζα είναι μήνες και προσπαθούν να του πουν πράγματα για τη ζωή του (μια ερμηνεία της αστρολογίας ως απελπισίας).

Italo Calvino is probably my favourite writer. This collection is one of his earliest volumes. Only his novel *The Path to the Spiders' Nests* and a few stories from the beginning of *Numbers in the Dark* predate the tales in this book.

*Adam, One Afternoon* contains 21 stories, the first 20 of which were published as a collection in 1949, just three years after his first book appeared. The 21st story, 'The Argentine Ant' (one of Calvino's finest realistic short stories) was written in the early 1950s.

'The Argentine Ant' is rather downbeat in tone but many of the other tales are curiously lighthearted despite the themes of war and deprivation they often deal with. Calvino's wartime stories resemble fables but they aren't particularly moral and even their development is always slightly ambiguous. 'The Crow Comes Last' is the best of the wartime bunch, a menacing tale about an inscrutable and possibly emotionless expert marksman.

Calvino's comic touch is also evident in these pages. 'Theft in a Cakeshop' and 'Dollars and the Demi-mondaine' are charming and frothy, but with a darker heart than might be immediately apparent. Usually Calvino presents the viewpoint of the ordinary man: the gardener, peasant, soldier, prostitute, migrant worker. But in 'Leaving Again Shortly', one of my favourites tales in the book, a saga of minor revolution against rich landlords is related somewhat morosely from the viewpoint of the estate owners themselves.

Calvino was a superb writer, the best or one of the best!

"Ultimo viene il corvo" è la seconda opera di Italo Calvino, ascrivibile alla sua fase "realista" assieme al celebre romanzo "Il sentiero dei nidi di ragno".
Nella sua prima edizione (1949), la raccolta comprende 30 racconti molto diversi tra loro, ma legati da tre "fili rossi": il tema della Resistenza; il tema dell'infanzia e della Liguria; il tema dell'avventura i cui protagonisti sono personaggi semplici, comuni.
I racconti sono molto brevi (massimo 10/12 pagine ciascuno) e si lasciano leggere velocemente. Ho letto queste 30 storie una per una, prendendomi il mio tempo. Sull'indice, poi, ho evidenziato con un cerchio i racconti che mi avevano colpito maggiormente, che erano stati in grado di lasciare un segno vivido, un'immagine forte nella mia mente. Risultato: ho apprezzato in modo particolare 16 racconti su 30. Non male. Consiglio in particolare la lettura del racconto eponimo "Ultimo viene il corvo", se non altro per scoprire da dove proviene lo strambo titolo dell'opera.
Elio Vittorini, a proposito di questa seconda opera calviniana, scrisse: "È un mazzo di racconti che in parte parvero spontanei e selvatici, dei fiori di campo, e in parte un po' sforzati o comunque coltivati, dei fiori di serra". Io non posso che condividere le parole del grande neorealista siciliano.

Raccolta di racconti abbastanza assimilabile all'ambientazione e l'atmosfera de Il sentiero dei nidi di ragno. Si possono piu' o meno fare le stesse considerazioni, ovvero che l'atmosfera della guerra e' resa bene e con effetto, ma la parte narrativa e' un po' acerba, e i racconti molto discontinui. Sul finale si nota un po' piu' di perizia nella narrazione, forse segno di racconti piu' maturi.

A varied set of short stories covering a time range from pre-war to post-war era. Most stories are grim and have death at the main role (e.g. One of the three is still alive), Some others read like middle-age literature (e.g. Crow Comes Last), some are comical (e.g. Desire in November). A cleverly hidden symbolism (e.g. in Argentine Ants) lurks beneath the surface of what looks like a straight and to-the-point prose. Although it is not my favourite Calvino, I enjoyed reading this collection.

Saya membaca kumpulan cerpen ini dalam Bahasa Indonesia terbitan Diva Press yang berjudul Adam, Suatu Senja. Buku ini mungkin bagi saya bukan karya terbaik Italo Calvino. Tidak seperti karya-karya besar Calvino yang mengandung unsur fantasi, kumpulan cerpen ini semuanya adalah cerita realisme. Cukup menarik tapi cukup mudah juga untuk terlupakan.

It’s always fascinating to see where an artist with such a legacy began their journey. Calvino’s early works are messy to say the least. I can see the merit in reading these stories as a fan of Calvino but don’t go in expecting anything life changing, save for Last Comes the Raven.

١٩ قصة قصيرة ل ١٦ كاتب، جزء من الكتّاب كنت لأول مرة بسمع فيهم فسعدت جدا لإنو هالمختارات عرفتني عليهم، وجزء كان ببالي جربلهم شي شبه كاثرين مانسفيلد رفيقة حبيبتي فيرجينيا يلي عرفتها قبل يومين تقريبا وصدفت إنه إلها قصة بين هالمختارات..

كانت جولة كثير ممتعة بالإنتقال بين قصص وطرق سرد مختلفة ومواضيع وأماكن. أغلب القصص حبيتها وكثير كانت عم تفتحلي عقلي لمدركات وأبعاد نظر جديدة ودهشتني، رغم إن بعضها ما فهمت مغزاه تماما، فأعتقد محتاجة عيد الكتاب بغير وقت..

كثير حبيت فكرة جمع هالقصص لكتّاب وعوالم مختلفين بنفس الكتاب. وإنو القائم على ترجمتهم الجميل إلياس فركوح ومؤنس الرزاز، حسيت بأرواحهم الجميلة عم ترافقني طول قراءتي للقصص، ممنونة جدا لإلهم ولكل مترجم على وش هالبسيطة لدورهم المهم وإضافتهم العظيمة للجمال لعالمنا 💙

A collection of short stories that felt a bit our of place for Calvino in my experience. Compared to the other much more out there stories I've read of him this felt surprisingly down to earth. Most of the short stories are set in WW2 Italy, with the first ten or so stories feeling more slice of life than anything, before delivering gut punches in the next series of stories about actual war violence. In the final set of stories, the more absurdist tones I know from this man started popping up, paradoxically jerking me both into and out of my comfort zone.
A collection of three parts, I do think this is my least favourite work of Calvino I've read so far, but it is interesting to have this peek into the humanity behind this author.

Theft in a Cakeshop, Going to Headquarters, Animal Wood og Fear on the Footpath.
