The Three-In-One Multipurpose Family Book! We have always had a tradition in our home of praying and reading the Scriptures each morning with our children, and having family devotions each evening. We have endeavored to purchase and use as much good children s material as possible, in order to train our five dear children in the things of the Lord from the day they were born. Unfortunately today, many precious lives are being led astray by the evil teaching of evolution. Young children spend countless hours, in front of a television set, watching humanistic evolutionary programs. It has been our burden to produce quality books that children and parents can use together, not only to learn about the Bible and God s word, but also to defend the Christian faith against the onslaughts of evolutionary ideas that are so pervasive in our society. The Scripture plainly teaches that the father is to be the spiritual head of the family, and the father to the children shall make know thy truth. (Isaiah 38:19) We believe this book provides a unique opportunity for parents, and particularly fathers, to spend time with their children, and teach them the wonderful truths of creation using those fascinating creatures the dinosaurs. We have tried to make this book entertaining, instructive, and colorful. We wrote it as a rhyme book, as we have found that most children enjoy learning and reciting rhymes. We hope this will be a book that parents as well as children will love. It should stimulate family togetherness, and encourage the reading of books, rather than the watching of television. It is our prayer that this book will cause children to request more and Please, read me a story, Daddy. Ken and Mally Ham
Dr. Ken Ham is the president of Answers in Genesis USA and is a well-known speaker and author on the subject of Young-Earth Creationism. He received a bachelor degree in applied science (emphasis on environmental biology) from the Queensland Institute of Technology, and a Diploma of Education from the University of Queensland. He has also received two honorary doctorates: a Doctor of Divinity from Temple Baptist College, and a Doctor of Literature from Baptist Liberty University.
He was a director of Creation Science Foundation (CSF) in Australia, an organization which he jointly founded with John Mackay. In 1987 he moved to the United States, still maintaining his links with CSF.
From 1987 to 1993, Ham worked for the Institute for Creation Research, and in 1994 set up what in 1995 became Answers in Genesis (AiG), a creation ministry dedicated to "upholding the authority of the Bible from the very first verse."
In 2008 Ham was described by well known atheist and evolutionary biologist PZ Myers as a "Wackaloon" for carrying out a prayer session with members of the Pentagon. Ham responded regarding the validity of that prayer breakfastand that PZ Myers and other critics were intolerant of his position.
How does this have any kind of a rating? This book, literally, in the back admonishes evolutionary scientists because we indoctrinate children, while on the desk page asking kids to sign a pledge stating that they won't believe anything that's not directly handed down from their parents or church members. It literally encourages kids to never think for themselves-pretty bold to accuse science of indoctrination. This book presents no accurate information. Science and religion are not at war with one another. Ken Ham is at war with common sense and education. Don't let your kids read this garbage.
Fantastic biblical account of creation and what happened to the dinosaurs. Told in great rhyming prose. I have read this book literally hundreds of times. I still enjoy it. Highly recommend.
Ken Ham has again developed a bright, colorful, and interesting book on dinosaurs and this time it is for the little ones just learning to read through perhaps 5th grade. D Is For Dinosaur is a nicely rhyming book featuring each letter of the alphabet. It is not just limited to dinosaurs, though. Children will learn simple yet profound truths in basic terminology that they can understand.
No, the pictures are not "real" or "life-like" but they will capture the interest of the young child and that is the goal here. Children are enthralled with "dinosaurs" and love to have dinosaur toys to play with. They just know these are interesting creatures. Now, the Christian parent and teacher has a good educational tool to use with the youngsters.
This is a flip-book and the flip side holds information that helps prompt the adult who is directing the reading of this book with ideas and information that pertain to that particular page's picture and verse. This book is not intended to be an argumentative tool, but it is a good beginning book to teach the basics of creation, the flood, dinosaurs and it uses the alphabet for teaching Biblical truths. Example: "A is for Answers in God's holy book."
I highly recommend D Is for Dinosaurs for the Christian home library as well as the Christian school, church, and public library. DISCLOSURE: I was provided a complimentary copy of D Is for Dinosaur by New Leaf Publishing Group on behalf of the author for the purpose of an honest review. There was no obligation for a positive review and all opinions expressed are solely mine.
I cannot emphasize enough how this book is dangerous for Children. The so-called logic that is so screwed up and flawed to be used to brainwash children makes me nauseous. I received this book from a friend who was as appalled as she knew I would be when I read it. For example: It teaches children when presented with any historical fact to ask "Were you there?" as a retort. Further, in later lessons it emphasises that you have to see something to prove it. (Strange logic from a religious book). Run, run away from this garbage!
What a fun book of all ages, from toddlers to older children! With interesting facts, names and sharing Gods Word with great illustrations and learning activities for all. I definitely would buy this book and also give it as a gift.
Instead of being an alphabet of dinosaur kinds or species, this book explains creation from Genesis 1:1 through the end of Genesis 1, and part of Genesis 2. Then the book goes on to explain the entrance of sin, death, pain, and suffering into God's perfect world through Adam's disobedience. Then the book goes on to detail the great worldwide flood of Noah's day, using Genesis 6 and 7. It explains that fossils are a result of the flood: Billions of dead things, buried in rock layers, laid down by water all over the earth. Excellent suggestions for parents to use with children accompany each letter. The backmatter provides additional info for parents and additional suggested activities to use with children. An excellent resource for parents who wish to teach their children the truths of the Bible, and who want to give them an alternative viewpoint to the evolutionary religion.
Couldn't stop laughing. Honestly thought this was a joke, like the book Awkward Moments Children's Bible by Horus Gilgamesh. Turns out, Mr. Ham is being serious, making this book funny and sad. One star for the entertainment, one star for the artwork, and a shake of the head for the sheer silliness of the entire thing.
Great childrens book. John enjoys it very much. I enjoy hearing him pronounce the dinosaur names. My negative is the way the drawings are. For example, dinosaurs with sunglasses.
