She saved my life that day we met in detention on her eighteenth birthday. Then she crushed my soul when she disappeared three weeks later. I thought I had lost her for good. But our reunion was a ballad straight from hell. Regardless, I’m still in love with Alina Timber.

I’ve been wanting to die since tragedy struck my family, before I was forced to leave the love of my life three weeks after meeting him. He went on to fail at fame, while I was sold off to settle a debt. I’m not who he remembers. But I’m trying to hold on long enough to be Sebastian Cox’s girl once more.

I received this book as an ARC and I loved it. Give me a rockstar romance with a killer emo playlist and I am here for it.

Their story, the songs, the trauma. Check your triggers!! Bash and Lina’s stories of trauma were heartbreaking, but watching them reconnect, rekindle and heal each other was powerful. I love the dual POV and Then/Now chapters.

Bash is our rockstar MMC who’s fallen from grace and Alina is our strong and beautiful FMC. I absolutely fell in love with Bash; his story line brought me to literal tears several times.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a super spicy, quick read with a twisted HEA. 🖤

I’m not actually reading this book. I’m reading the first one in the series that doesn’t seem to be in GoodReads. There was a lot to not like about it, but the heart on the face scene made it a 5. I’m not personally into that but it was a powerful fucking scene. Made my guts clench. Been a while since a book did that.
Also, the fight fuck love thing is such a punk world view. I felt it deeply.

Hauntingly Dark, Trigged Filled Story:

Let me start by saying if any of this list triggers you, this book is NOT for you. If you are looking for a happy love second chance story. This book is NOT for you.
This book is dark, brutal at times even. But if you can handle these triggers and want a really well written dark read - this one could be just the thing.

Abuse

MC’s Lina and Bash met in high school during detention. She was the good girl, he the emo bad boy and both had home lives that left them lacking. They become each others lifelines and then she vanished on him. When he sees her again many years later he is a recovering addict rock star and she has been “sold” into prostitution to pay off her fathers gambling debts. Bash cannot stand to see the woman he still loves being treated so terribly and vows to rescue her no matter what.

I have never read a book this dark and like I stated above it is absolutely not for light reading. However, I could not put it down. I devoured this book in about 3.5 hours. I do not want to give spoilers but I want to say that ending is just insane and bloody and described so vividly that I spent the rest of the day just shaking my head and processing it all. It was a very good book. I am not sad I read it at all. Not every story is sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes you need some goth/emo/tragic darkness!

Hold On

Tierney, you my love describes the emotion, the love, the hurt beautifully; especially the moment where dissociation and shock intertwine. I have falling in love while moments of my heart breaking-my breath being held while my heart races!! We all need a Bash in our lives and to have the love Lina Girl carries even in her darkest moments, Bash as well. Just like Hold On by Good Charlotte’s meaning, to Hold On doesn’t mean that the pain you felt doesn’t still exist nor goes away but finding something within yourself and if you’re lucky you will get to have a Bash to give you that extra strength to keep pushing forward and knowing taking pauses only helps you to continue to Hold On.
Full circle moments where it begins with a boy and continues to haught him but when the girl he’s always loved since that day in detention gets to experience in a very similar way what the boy she gave herself to went through. Love. Heartbreak. All intertwined with such intensity that will forever imprint itself onto your very existence because it did just that to mine!! Just like the breakfast club; each individual all uniquely in their own way have things going on but in the end of their dentition they all found they connected through one another’s feeling of emotion but knew the were equal in ways you can only find in the ‘feeling of emotion’. That’s what connected them, and that’s what connected Bash Cox and Lina Girl.

Listen, I signed up for a spicy, angsty, second-chance romance, NOT a full-blown emotional exorcism. Yet here I am, dehydrated from crying and in dire need of therapy.

Sebastian—aka Bash, aka former rock god, aka human embodiment of a tragic love song—has been through it. Addiction? Check. Trauma? Check. A love so deep it makes Romeo & Juliet look like a summer fling? Double check. And then we have Alina, who’s been handed the worst deck of life cards imaginable but still manages to be a badass. When these two first meet, sparks fly… and then life, in all its cruel, dramatic glory, drags them apart faster than you can say “emotional damage.”

Fast forward years later, and BOOM—they’re thrown back together with enough unresolved tension to power a city-wide blackout. The angst? Unmatched. The steam? Spicy enough to melt my Kindle. The emotional pain? Help.

This book is dark, raw, and filled with enough pain and passion to leave you emotionally winded—but somehow, it still gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling by the end. Just please check the trigger warnings, because this one isn’t pulling any punches.

I received this book as an ARC, and it was an emotional, intense read that completely pulled me in. Sebastian, a recovering addict and former rockstar, and Alina, who was sold into prostitution by her father, share a heartbreaking yet undeniable connection. Their love is raw, painful, and deeply moving as they struggle to heal from their pasts and find their way back to each other.

From the moment Alina saves Sebastian’s life in detention, their bond is set, but fate tears them apart just three weeks later. Years later, their reunion is filled with tension, longing, and a desperate fight to reclaim what was lost. Sebastian’s unwavering love and Alina’s resilience make this story unforgettable.

This book is dark, emotional, and beautifully written—definitely check the triggers before diving in. If you love second-chance romances with deep emotional stakes and characters who fight for their love despite the odds, this one is a must-read.

I enjoyed this book so much. It's so traumatic and beautiful at the same time. Alina and Sebastian went through so much and have held on to their trauma all this time. Having them come back together after all this time and slowly healing each other was amazing. Showing how trauma is moving forward but can still have you take three steps back and lash out or feel it all over again is very real and important. These two are my favorite mix of trauma, love and crazy all in one.

Check. Trigger. Warnings.

Sebastian is a rockstar. Alina is the one who got away essentially. They met in highschool detention and then Alina disappeared. This book alternates between present time and 10 years prior - when they met. The trauma that both characters went through was a lot. I just wanted to take their troubles away. I loved this book.

Hold on by Tierney Alina Eddy

I received hold on by Tierney from Tierney. This book is full of triggers, so if you have not read the trigger warnings, please do as your mental health matters. Always remember to hold on as you never know when someone will walk into your life and alter the course of everything.

This book is a dark romance duet, Sebastian Cox and Alina Timber. If you are easily effected by such triggers again do not read this.

Sebastian Cox is a rock and roll music lover, coming up from nothing in a abusive home. He strives to protect his mom from his dad and takes the brunt of everything. Music is the only thing that’s been keeping him going until it just wasn’t anymore. He makes a decision that its his last day to take the pain and he’s going to take the pain away, until he meets her where she altered the course of his life forever. He found the will to live again.

Alina Timber grew up in a loving home with her brother and parents. She loved alternative rock and elder emo bands that sparked her life since not having many friends. She would try to make friends or talk to guys but they just wanted her for one thing and she just couldn’t get herself to go through with it. With her prudeness it landed her a degrading name causing her to punch out the lights of a guy. She was sentenced to detention, where she walked in talking to the teacher about what happened when she seen the most beautiful boy her eyes have ever seen.

This is a then and now series so there are several flashbacks but each chapter lets you know where you are. Then: 10-12 years ago when they were 18/19, Now: 10-12 years present when they are 30/32. The age was the only thing for the years between that I got confusing but everything else came together smoothly. Overall this was an excellent dark romance and I look forward to more.

I finished it at least, that's why it got 3⭐. I don't know if I just went into this book with higher expectations than I should have, but it was heavily focused on the spice and it kind of felt like the plot was just on the back burner. But if you're looking for a dark romance that's focused on that about a fallen rockstar who struggles with substance abuse and his first love whose life definitely went off track, this might be more up your alley than it was mine!

Sebastian Cox is a high school student who has lived a rough life of abuse and neglect. He’s made the decided to end it when he meets a girl who changes everything.

Ah, this story got me in the feels. It was everything I need in a second chance romance. The flashbacks of Bash and Alina in high school were so sweet 🥰 The pacing was perfect. I love the way the POVs switch multiple times in the chapters. We’re constantly aware of what each character is thinking and that kept the story flowing.

I adore Tierney Alina Eddy’s characters. They’re normal, realistic, every-day people. Sure, Bash is a rock star, but that’s not his entire personality. I don’t know how to explain it except that I would be friends with them.

Lina is one of my favorite FMCs. She’s resilient as fuck. This woman has been through go hell but didn’t let it break her.

Bash has the green flag energy that I love. He adores the ground Alina walks on. He knows exactly what she’s been through and feels so bad when he said negative things to her.

This book deals with tough topics, so check the triggers, but it’s well worth the read.

TLDR: Second chance romance with flawed, realistic characters. Soooo goood!!!

Sebastian's life has been a long journey through pain and abuse, until he crosses paths with Alina on a fateful day. Unfortunately, many years later when they reunite, Alina has also been burdened by her own experiences of suffering and hardship.

The deep scars from their traumas have left both of them feeling like mere shadows of their true selves.

This book is undoubtedly a difficult read, highlighting the heavy emotional weight that both main characters carry. However, it is written well. I enjoyed how the story intertwines their past—when they first met as teens—with their present as adults navigating their painful realities.

Ultimately, it’s a quick yet profoundly emotional journey that leads to a hopeful ending, touching on themes of pain, trauma, forgiveness, and the possibility of healing.

Wow, this book will punch you in the gut with how gut wrenching it was. So much trauma, sadness, crying and heartache.

Two people who have loved each other since they were in high school. They dated and could never see themselves without each other ... until an unforeseen circumstance separated them and they had no choice but to part ways. He became a rock god that spiraled and she just led a very different life that no parent would approve of, but unlike her situation, she was put in it unwillingly.

One day when he returned home, he ran into the love of his life (still was after all the years) and he is the one who came to her rescue. Although they became inseparable, they still had demons to work on. They would still be at each other's throat for what happened years ago, but they also knew that they couldn't be without each other. She was in a dilemma at the moment, and he was going to do everything in his power to get her out of it.

I was torn from how much heartache these two went through in life and all the anxiety it gave me while reading. But all in all ... it was a good, heart wrenching story that will tear your heart out.

PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS! If this is not for you, please do not read!

Well written, dark, trigger heavy and spicy what else can you ask for in a book.
A story of deeply troubled couple who had an instant connection in high school until life came along and ripped them apart but their trauma responses bring them back together. Their journey to their happy ending is filled with sex, music and blood shed! I enjoyed this book and the way they helped each other overcome their previous trauma to rebuild that bond they had!
