BLOODRIGHT picks up right where BLOOD LAW (book 1) leaves off. Falon has just been given to Rafael’s brother, Lucien, as payment of Blood Law. Rafael killed Lucien’s true mate years ago, who he believed to be a Slayer, but Lucien claimed she wasn’t and wanted Blood Law enacted, which basically means an eye for an eye. Instead of being given the chance to kill Falon, the council decides that since there’s doubt on both brothers’ claims, Lucien can have Falon as his own true mate, leaving her unharmed or release her to Rafael. He chooses to take her as his mate and leaves a broken hearted Rafael behind as Falon is now part of the Mondragon pack. The entire book focuses on Falon now being an alpha with Lucien and preparing for the big Blood Moon rising when the fight between the packs and the Slayers will come to a bloody conclusion. Rafael, being the honorable man that he is, has also promised to mark another mate in return for Lucien saving Falon when she’s mortally wounded early on.

BLOOD LAW was the story of true mates Rafael and Falon, BLOODRIGHT is the story of true mates Lucien and Falon and I had such a hard time with this. In the first book, it’s driven home, many times, about how Rafael and Falon and true mates, she loves him with all her heart and soul and would do anything for him. It takes her all of 40 pages in BLOODRIGHT to have sex with Lucien. To me, this trashes everything she was feeling for Rafael in book 1. Falon can’t help how her body responds to Lucien, but she doesn’t even try to resist him and after her initial plan to make his life a living hell gets forgotten rather quickly, she’s starting to fall in love with the brother who wants nothing more than to see Rafael destroyed.

Lucien knows that Falon loves Rafael, she states this many times throughout the story that she won’t ever be able to stop loving him, but she chooses to stay with Lucien. First, it’s to honor the Blood Law and I guess it’s also her way to honor Rafael, but that turns into her choosing to stay with Lucien for Lucien and the love she’s feeling for him. Lucien came across as such an insecure guy, which as an alpha, just didn’t mix. He goes back and forth the whole book with “releasing” Falon and telling her the choice is hers as to whether she stays with him or goes back to Lucien. She never denies the love she feels for Rafael, nor does she deny the love she feels for Lucien and tells him many times that she chooses to be with him. Lucien can feel the love the she has for Rafael and it pisses him off all the time. It was hard to understand why he kept acting out when he felt her love for his brother, especially when she told him time and again that yes, she loves Rafael, but she chose to stay with Lucien. Things would settle down and then he’d feel her love for Rafael again and the cycle would start all over. I thought many times, enough!! She picked you, Lucien, believe her, deal with the love she feels for her first true mate (which shouldn’t be a shock) and move on!

Falon made some bad decisions as well. She’s still learning about the power she has within her and as part of the powerful three: her, Lucien and Rafael. But she taunts the wrong people with her power and ends up finding herself in more than one life threatening situation. She’s still in the dark about who her father is, but her mother makes an appearance and I’d have liked to have gotten more information from her about what exactly happened in the past. Even though what happened between her mother and her yet to be revealed father is completely uncertain, it is eluded to, I wanted her to finally shed some light on everything to Falon (and us as readers).

My biggest issue with this book – it crosses the line sexually between Falon and Lucien. I try to keep an open mind when it comes to erotic stories, especially erotic PNR because lines will be pushed, pretty far sometimes, but there are some lines that I just don't want to read about being crossed. Lucien and Falon have some dirty, animalistic sex scenes. Early on, the most daring was Falon in her human form and Lucien in his wolf form during foreplay. It was a little eh, but it was foreplay and that was it; until it came to the scene where they had full out sex with Falon as human and Lucien in his wolf form. No. Just no. That’s not an image and scene I want burned into my brain and really, their sex was rough and daring enough without going there. I would have DNF’d the book right at that point had there been more than about 50 pages left in the story. I thought, I’m this close to the end, I’ll just finish it. Only to find another scene with more human/wolf sex, this time Falon shifts to wolf right in the middle of them having sex. This is a no-go for me and even with the issues I was having regarding the main relationship not really working, this just soured me to the whole book.

I did end up finishing it and the book ends on another cliffhanger. A third person comes into the mix claiming that Falon is their true mate (this one woman seems to be everyone’s true mate) and takes off with her, leaving the brothers in the dust. Judging by the cover of book 3 and all the hints leading up to the final installment, the three leads will finally come together for the big Blood Moon rising. At this point, I have no desire to find out how it all plays out in the final book. This story left a bad taste with the human/wolf sex line it crossed and it’s not a book I’ll recommend.

Lycan race to extinction…
Bloodright, the second book in the Blood Moon Rising trilogy, is fast paced, edgy, very… and I do mean, very sexy… so sexy, in fact, that it borders on taboo. This book begins where Blood Law left off and right from the start it grabbed hold, and seriously, didn't let go! I can’t wait for the third and final book of the trilogy, Blood Vow, due out in December, 2012.

W-O-W Lucian is SMOKING!

I loved this one MUCH better probably because it centred around Lucian and Falon. I mean yeah Raf is nice, but Lucas, dang, he's sexy!

He oozes sex appeal, hotnesses and mystery.
How can you not be attracted to that, he is well appealing, interesting and gorgeous!

And that ending? Wow, did not see that coming. Falon Groton my nerves a little but. She couldn't be happy with Lucian, or even Raf. She wants both of them. Some trio relationship with two BROTHERS. I mean two brothers and one girl.. *shudders*. It's kinda weird but when their both just gorgeous well I'm kinda jealous haha!

But yeah. Now the 'fenir' wolf's got her so... What ever, pray tell, will happen now?

I loved these scenes between Falon and Lucien;

He pressed his forehead to hers and looked down at her swollen breasts. His fingers tightened around her arms.
What he did next stunned her. Carefully, he buttoned up her vest and then stood back from her. He held out his hand to her. Dumbfounded, she took it. He led her through the heaving, gasping, humping pack up the metal stairway to his room.
Quietly, he shut the door behind them. “Get some sleep, Falon. Your body isn’t as strong as you think it is.”
He walked past her into the bathroom.
Speechless, she stood there in the middle of the bedroom, her body on fire while he—he did what? Brushed his teeth?

“Do not ever interfere in my business,” he commanded.
Falon threw her head back and laughed. Then narrowed her eyes at him and demanded, “Am I not your chosen one? As such, I demand to stand beside my almighty alpha.” She bowed to him as if he were King Shit.

Bloodright (Blood Moon Rising Trilogy #2)

by Karin Tabke

The coming of the Blood Moon will lead two Lycan packs into war, spur two rival brothers into conflict, and spark an act of vengeance so evil that its effects will be felt for generations.
One woman stands at the center of it all...

After years of waiting, the Blood Law is at last avenged. Lycan Alpha Lucien Mondragon takes revenge on his brother, Rafael. Lucien is poised to slay Rafael's life mate, the Lycan/Slayer half-breed Falon- but cannot complete the kill. For Falon's mystical powers and fiery nature awaken a heart Lucien thought long dead. Instead of ending her life, Lucien defiantly marks Falon as his own, tormenting his brother to insanity and spurning Rafael's blood thirst for his own revenge.

Though terrified by the savage Lucien, Falon finds herself inexplicably drawn to his primal rage and strength by a desire she cannot resist. Torn between the true love she has for Rafael and the burning hunger she holds for Lucien, Falon knows that the will of her heart will lead her to her destined life mate. But it may also doom the Alpha brothers-and the Lycan race-to extinction..

I waited and waited and waited for this book! I was NOT disappointed! Right from the beginning it picks up right where it left off in Blood Law. Rafa and Fallon have agreed to abide by what ever the council decides. It could mean the difference between life and death for both Rafa and Fallon. This stems back from a family feud between Rafa and Luca each alphas of their both packs. Pack Vulkasin and Pack Mondragon. Lucien wants revenge! Rafa slayed his chosen and the term an eye for an eye is literal. Rafa states his chosen Mara was a slayer and of course Luca disagrees whole heartedly.

The council decides to give Fallon over to Lucien and it sets the three of them on a course that is chain reactive for all the packs!

I loved every minute of this book and kept turning pages! I was angry when I had to put the book down, I didn’t want to stop! Fallon doesn’t want to have feelings for Lucien but he gets her on a soul deep level. Brings out a side of her she has never know before. Even with Rafa… Can I just stop right there and say this? WEREWOLF SANDWICHING IS IN!

Now Lucien never thought he would be able to open his heart to another and finds out that he is wrong in ways that only make a girl go *swoon* He’s dark and sinful and sexy as hell! He’s unique bedside manner came be considered taboo to most people but I found that Tabke took you to the edge and pulled you over in a safe way. Who doesn’t want a little werewolf in them? *winks* I know from just seeing some of the comments that people had issues with some of the more “taboo” scenes. But damn she did it up right! I say it was perfect for Luca’s personality, he lived on the edge pushed the envelope not only with his emotions but with Fallon and made her see a side of herself she didn’t know existed.

There is a lot of Rafa in this book and Fallon is equally torn between both brothers and finds that she can’t live without them. The power of three will unite the packs and vanquish the slayers for all time come the rising! And I am all for it as long as it entails the three of them tangled on the forest floor enjoying themselves! HA! I’m serious there is a scene in this book that you will enjoy if your into Werewolf Sandwiches!

I loved the dynamics of the packs and how they were all emotionally connected to their alphas, when the alphas mated the pack mated and when the alpha gets with cub then the packs will begin to reproduce. That is strong family connection right there! Then of course there are a few surprises there is Layla who Fallon recognizes from her past and then there is Fenrir and the ring! (In a Lord of the Rings voice) The one true ring to rule them all! The precious! Fallon tests her emotional boundaries as well as her physical and mental boundaries, she’s got powers beyond a Lycans.

I gotta say I know where this is headed and I am eager to see how it all plays out and of course Tabke leaves you on edge at the end wanting the next book NOW! Be prepared to get pulled into a world deep with emotions and heartache…. Because Bloodright will take you there and back again only to leave you wanting!

Hands down I enjoyed this book it gets more than 5 starts more like 10!

After nearly a year of impatiently waiting I finally got to read what happens after “all hell broke loose.” The wait was worth it. Bloodright is an amazing follow up to Blood Law. The book starts off at a quick pace and the action, emotions and revelations just keep accelerating. Be prepared to not be able to put this book down until the very last page!

Going into the second book in Karin’s Blood Moon Rising trilogy I was determined not to like Lucien. I loved Rafael and Falon as a couple. Their relationship was securely established in Blood Law. I felt that Lucien’s anger and hatred towards his only living blood relative was extreme and probably should have lessened some over the past sixteen years.

To say that Lucien’s character shocked me would be an understatement. There are so many layers to this male. Initially Falon sees the brothers as “Rafael was all that was golden and honorable, Lucien was all that was dark and decadent.” Nothing with these two males is that simple. As Falon gets to know Lucien she quickly discovers this fact. He is just as loyal and honorable as his golden brother. She also discovers that she may be able to bring the two packs back together.

The two packs reuniting are paramount for their coming battle at the rise of the Blood Moon with the Slayers. Lucien, Falon, and Rafael are preparing for this battle and what their roles in it will be. Through a Slayer attack they discover that together they make a more formidable pack to fight against the Slayers that are determined to rid the world of all Lycans.

Falon’s strength as a heroine continues to astonish me. She has been put into an impossible position. Her choice in the man she will be with has been taken from her by laws that she was not raised by. She makes the best of her situation. Even when both men seem to only see their inner torment over the circumstances that they have found themselves in she still keeps her head high and seeks to find a way for all to be happy with the councils ruling in regards to the Blood Law.

The sex scenes are beyond hot and sensually erotic. Lucien is one sexually charged Lycan that has finally found the female that completes him. This is one hot and sexy romance. There are a few sexual situations where the characters are in their shifted wolf forms. These scenes are tastefully written on flow with the eroticism of the book and the primal mating bond that get established between the couple.

And now I will impatiently wait for December 4 and the release of the third and final book in this amazing series, Blood Vow. I can’t wait to see how this series wraps up.

DOWN RIGHT AWESOME!!!

Here I thought theirs no way I'll even come close to liking Lucien, but my mind and body played tricks on me. I Love HIM!! Great story line and awesome as heck characters! The Hero and heroine are kick ass! Nice come back from the first novel and well worth waiting nearly a year to finally read it.

One con for me was the transforming into their uh "beasts" and doing the dirty,it was done twice, but I got over it cause the novel was GREEEEEAT!

Damn I feel like I betrayed Rafa! Now I know how Falon feels.GOSH!

In Bloodright, author Karen Tabke weaves an exciting, tension filled tale of a Lycan nation on the brink of war and the very discordant, intense emotional dynamics between three Lycans. This story had my heart twisted up in all sorts of directions because of the intensity of the heartache, pain and love came screaming off the pages in this book. Add in the intensity of the plot against the Slayers who want to destroy the werewolves and you have a recipe for a superb story.

Lucien Mondragon and Rafael Vulkasin are twin brothers who are the respective alphas of their packs - the Mondragon Pack and the Vulkasin Pack. Lucien’s attitude toward his brother is very bitter and hateful ever since Rafael killed his mate. Rafael is confident in the decision he made to slay Lucien’s mate because he was sure she was a Slayer - the Lycan’s worst enemy - and in turn, saving Lucien’s life since laying with a Slayer is punishable by death.

Because Rafael killed Lucien’s mate, Lucien has declared his right in the Blood Law where he is able to exact the same offense upon his brother, the offending party. Falcon, Rafael’s mate is ordered by the elders who oversee and uphold the laws of the packs to go to Lucien. The beginning of the story has the reader thrown into the middle of the ramifications of Rafael handing over Falcon to Lucien creating an astounding start to a great book.

As a heroine, Falcon is level headed, brave, and is able to do what she needs to do in order to make sure the packs stay cohesive rather than war with each other despite the declaration of the Blood Law on Lucien’s insistence. Because of her powers and ther relationship with the two alphas, she becomes a major player int he building conflict.

Falcon’s personal life gets more complicated. The more time Falcon spends with Lucien, she falls in love with him, too. Because of the tie she spends with Lucien, she also learns more about herself and her powers. The strength of the feelings she has for both Lucien and Rafael causes Falcon to be torn between the feelings she has for each brother since they have both melded to her soul. They each fulfill here in different and inexorable ways which make her complete. In addition, she has a strong feeling that she is supposed to be with both brothers and has a strong suspicion that the Prophecy of the Three relates to the three of them.

Bloodright is an outstanding book and I am waiting with bated breath for the next installment of this series. If you are a paranormal romance genre reader, this is a book you do not want to pass up. It has everything one could hope for in a good book - love, hate, mayhem, sensual moments, Lycans. Absolutely a hands down five star read! And the ending will leave you pining for more.

Happy Reading from Bona Fide Reflections!!

Bloodright by Karin Tabke
A Blood Moon Rising Novel #2

Entering the second book in Karin Tabke’s Blood Moon Rising series, we start off exactly where the first book ended. For those of you that haven’t read the first book , I strongly recommend you start at the first book. The first book ends in a cliffhanger, and the author doesn’t spend any time rehashing the foundation of the story from the first book, and you just might find yourself a bit lost.

I was reeled in with the first book to this series, Bloodlaw and couldn’t wait for the next book to finally land in my greedy little hands. I love the world that Tabke has created, with her chopper riding bad boy Lycan‘s, and the history of the brothers Lucien and Rafael, also the story behind the Slayers. The history in which she has given her characters and their story is compelling, and totally sucked me in to the story. I am normally a character driven reader, and Tabke hit all the major marks with me. However, there are a couple of issues I had with this book, and it revolves around Fallon. How many times is she going to get herself killed before she realizes that she is not in fact invincible. Also, I found myself a bit irritated over the fact that EVERYONE wants Fallon, and each time she’s brought back from death, or the brink of, her hormones are running rampant. Now I know this is PNR but those things were a bit over the top.

After the ending of the first book left me shocked and awe’d, I thought there was no way I could accept any outcome that denied Rafael and Fallon their HEA. Boy was I wrong!! I got the drift really quick in this book that Tabke was going to try to make me like Lucien, aaaaand well I not only liked him, I fell completely in love with him. His character is so complex, as he starts revealing his true self piece by piece, my heart opened up the same way. Thus leaving me in much of the same situation as Fallon, loving both brothers. But I will admit that were I faced with the choice myself, I would without a doubt choose Lucien.

I’m not going to go into the story / plot here, if you like shifter stories, this series is for you. This is the fourth book I’ve read by this author, and I think she is incredibly talented in her writing and characterization, and I look forward to reading more from her. Mrs. Tabke also knows her way around the smexy scenes, and will surely make your toes curl!

4 Stars! Bloodright picks up immediately where blood law ended. I love Lucien.*sigh* He's a manipulative, bossy, ruthless, sexy bad boy alpha that is essentially a tortured soul. I waited forever (about a year) for him and he didn't disappoint. 3 stars are just for him. Beware he is tattooed, pierced,(both in the nether regions - yep down south ladies) and can be a huge jealous a-hole at times. When I say jealous I mean Lucien is seriously jealous of Rafael. He just want to be loved and all that good stuff.

Falon is pretty badass herself but she annoyed me three times which is two times too many. o you ever think logically girl? Oh and Rafe?

The Sex. H-O-T. The taboo part if the book didn't throw me off. Yes, it's definitely not for everyone but it didn't bother me. They are wolves. Lucien has no boundaries and doesn't like to be restrained or follow rules. I pretty much just went with the flow.

Overall Bloodright focuses on Lucien and Falon but packs a lot of action and the underlying tension of the two lycan packs into it. Good book for a erotic romance and way better than the first for me. There is another cliffhanger that has you thinking 'Damn It!'. Falon is in demand all around. Oh and I did enjoy it and will be anxiously awaiting the conclusion se for later this year.

Based on every other review I've read, I'm totally cranky or reading a different book than everyone else read. The first book of the trilogy was a guilty pleasure. This one was, IMO kind of a mess with some dubious consent, inconsistent characterization and (for me) squicky wolf-human sexual situations.

I'm including spoiler tags even though I'm going to talk in generalities JIC.

OMG, what can I say. Outstanding. If you want action, romance, and erotica, you have got to read this book. Don't pick it up, if you are going to be squeamish. There are some very bold situations in this book. She put the first book to shame. I cannot believe how it ended. It is sin to have to wait till December for the final book. I am so Team LUCA and RAFA!! I would like to know who her father is, maybe we will get that in the last book. I take my 5 stars back, 6 stars Ladies and Gentleman :DDD

Review Courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: A woman torn away from the man she loves only to be drawn into the bed of another.

Opening Sentence: Lucien grabbed Falon to his chest before Rafael could touch her and whirled away from him deep into the safety of his pack.

The Joint Review:

Sheila’s Thoughts:

Bloodright is considered a paranormal erotic romance. The “paranormal” is there, along with lots of scenes that get the “erotic” stamp of approval. It’s the drama queen romance that is too clichéd for words. Really, not being able to decide between two hottie twins is fine and dandy, but to profess undying love to one then the other in an obscenely short amount of time is too much. It smacks of Romeo and his fickle love in Romeo & Juliet. Good story, but the flightiness is hard to swallow.

If the first book centers on Rafael, then the second installment of the Blood Moon Rising trilogy is all about Lucien. Lucien, the dark, brooding yet misunderstood twin. Lucien, the epicenter of all the in-fighting among the clans of werewolves. Lucien, bane of Rafael and Falon’s Happily-Ever-After. Lucien, the black sheep of the family that only needs the love of a good woman to make him the better man he was always destined to be.

Admittedly, Falon and Lucien are thrust together in an uncomfortable situation and try to make the most of it. They are the alphas of their pack, and love doesn’t have to be a part of the equation. But Lucien is never happy, no matter what changes. He wants Falon’s body, so she gives it. Now, he wants her to love him as much as she loves his brother, so she does. Does he stop there, heck no! He is jealous because he can’t have ALL of her heart. There just seems to be no right answer for Falon here. So I ask, what’s the point? It just seems to me like a bad relationship that thrives on drama.

Then there is Rafael. He gives up Falon, his chosen mate, to his brother because it’s the right thing to do. As if THAT is going to keep him warm at night. When he sees that she is making the most of her situation and trying to make a life with Lucien, Rafael gets pissed. Really? You push her away and now that she is happy, you want her back? What is this book, the Jerry Springer Show: Werewolves Special? And in true Jerry fashion, Falon admits to wanting both as her mate – at the same time. Fine Falon, but do you need to drag it out so? What’s the point in going back and forth between the two if you want them both together? Shouldn’t that be your goal and not making everyone miserable? Can these emotionally immature people get their act straight before the final fight happens? Or will they be so busy wrapped up in themselves to even notice the bigger picture?

True, there is a lot going on besides the love triangle. Lucien learns the truth about Mara; the whole reason this blood feud between twins started in the first place. Rafael and Lucien make tentative steps toward reconciliation. Falon learns more about her parents. And the three of them tap into a tremendous power that could possibly tip the balance in this war with the Slayers.

For the most part, this is a good read. Aside from the wishy-washy Falon and both brothers’ lamenting, the overall plot was great. I enjoyed the fact that the well written sex scenes are evenly dispersed as to not overwhelm the overall story and slink into porno territory. Other than that, I don’t recommend this book to people that have a hard time reading fickle hearts residing within blood thirsty heroines. On the other hand, if you are looking for another love triangle, this is the series for you.

Angela’s Thought’s:

From the moment that I finished Blood Law, I knew that Bloodright would be at the top of my must read list. The ending from the first book has a killer cliffhanger and Rafael and Falon’s story was far from over. I’d been impatiently waiting to find out how the story would progress and how Rafael would be able to hold onto Falon, and everything that they shared. This isn’t a book that you can just jump into. You have to read the first book because the events in this book are very much tied to everything that happened in the first book.

Honestly, I’ve been thinking about this review since I read the book a month ago. In many ways I knew how certain elements of this story would play out. The foreshadowing in Blood Law and other plot point hints didn’t really prepare me for the story that I read in Bloodright. From the jump I had misgivings about Lucien and Falon having a real relationship and the idea of them being “true” mates. Their previous interactions were cantankerous at best, but more importantly, they didn’t share a connection.

Many of Tabke’s signature styles remain evident in Bloodright. The writing style, world building, and mythology/lore are all fantastic. My biggest critique of this book is the characterization and believability. I like some of the twists and turns that Tabke threw at the reader as well as the evenly placed plot devices, the kind where the author will write their characters into a corner and the reader is then frantic trying to figure out how their beloved characters will get out of the mess that they got themselves into. In this case it didn’t work with Falon and Lucien.

I knew that Falon would have a lot of challenges to face, but I didn’t expect her to be so mercurial. Falon initially presented as someone who was very strong, independent, loyal and resourceful despite all of her previous hardships. Given everything that she shared with Rafael, it was truly hard to believe that in such a short period of time (a week or two) she would be able to give herself so completely to the one person who swore he would destroy the only man that she has ever loved. The relationship that Falon and Lucien developed just didn’t seem sincere. Falon seemed to justify her deplorable actions by hiding behind the blood law. Telling herself that what she was doing was right for the pack and that she was honoring Rafael in his selfless, albeit forced act to give her up. The running theme throughout this story is that all of a sudden Lucien is the “key”. I guess conveniently, he is the key to everything. The war against the Slayers simply can’t be won without him and everything else that needs to be done to save the Lycan race also falls at his feet. I couldn’t help feeling as if Falon thought so little of the love that she supposedly shared with Rafael, the alpha who she shared a mark with; the alpha who was supposed to be her “true” mate. Falon never really processed the loss of Rafael or truly mourned the demise of their relationship before she threw him aside like trash to fall into bed with his brother. I was truly disappointed and didn’t care for the neutered version of Rafael in this installment.

The only other thing that I will mention is that this story isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a sexy story with vividly detailed love scenes, which might cause some readers to pause because there are a few human/animal sex scenes. Meaning one character is in their human form and the other is in their wolf form. I’ll let you be the judge.

Readers are also treated to another cliffhanger, which I didn’t seem coming at all. You’ll just have to wait a few months because the third installment, Blood Vow, won’t hit shelves until December 2012.

Overall, while I was disappointed with certain aspects of this latest installment, Bloodright was a decent read. It’s a good continuation of the complicated/ill-fated story arc, but not a great installment. I just found it hard to be sympathetic towards Falon and Lucien’s continued deceit was just too much. I didn’t find him as likable as I thought I would, and it was really hard to connect with Falon in this story. She wasn’t the slightest bit relatable. Not in the same way she captured my heart in the first book.

Notable Scene:

Falon lick her dry lips and glanced at Lucien, who had walked over o talk weapons with Anton. He looked so damn sexy in the pair of low-slung jeans. His muscles rippled along his arms as he grasped a sword from Anton’s cache, making stabbing and thrusting gestures. Lucien’s dark hair framed his fallen-angel face in a wild halo of midnight black. Her body warmed when she thought of them earlier that day on the riverbank. It had been ferocious, frantic, untamed. But then, so was Lucien. He kept her off balance. She never knew what to expect from him except the unexpected.

Lucien’s feral nature was the polar opposite of Rafael’s civility. Rafael was a sensualist. Slow. Deliberate, and oh so passionate. With Rafael, Falon knew where she stood, and that he would always do the right thing. He was grounded, revered among his people, and highly intelligent. He was her first. She had always thought he would be her last. But fate had a funny way of stepping in and shaking up a person’s life.

Falon’s chest tightened with longing. She missed waking in Rafa’s strong secure arms. Yet her breath hitched high in her throat and her belly did chaotic somersaults when she thought of Lucien’s touch. He was instant heat followed be internal combustion.

How was it that each man, in his different way, completed her?

Bloodright continues right where Blood Law left off. This is definitely a series that you need to read in order as it follows one main storyline and three central characters. Blood Law was about the budding love between Falon and Rafael but now its Lucien’s turn…

The Blood Law has been avenged but not in a way any of them foresaw. Falon is ripped from her love, Rafael, the alpha of pack Vulkasin, and given to his vengeful twin brother Lucien Mondragon. Unable to imagine a life without Rafael and one where she must submit to Lucien, Falon tries to take her own life. Rafael pleads with Lucien to save his Chosen One and agrees never to see or make contact with Falon again if Lucien will save her life. When Falon sees the real man under all of Lucien’s hate and anger, she slowly starts to fall for him. But how can she love both the brothers without betraying one of them? With the Blood Moon coming and the Slayers organizing, Falon must make a decision and in the end no one will walk away unscathed.

Wow, after the cliffhanger in Blood Law I was dying to get on with Bloodright to see what happened and I am so glad that I read these first two books together! Bloodright was a sensational continuation of the series and I loved everything about Lucien and Falon. Lucien has so many layers to him and once he starts to let go of his anger we really see what a big heart he has. Maybe it’s my love for bad boys or the underdogs of a story but I have been rooting for Lucien from the beginning and I was not disappointed now that he finally got his chance.
With love blossoming between him and Falon, Lucien realizes that yes; maybe his heart is capable of loving again. Falon opens him up like no one else can and shows him that he deserves happiness and not just with her but between him and his brother as well. Falon doesn’t think that there is any room in her heart for anyone other than Rafa but she quickly realizes that there is plenty of room in there for Luca too. But she feels that by loving one she is betraying the other. The story reaches the point where Falon has to come to a decision and to either make it selfishly or for the good of the packs. The jealousy between the brothers escalates though and I thought Lucien’s growth here, while not complete, was intriguing to follow while Rafael somewhat digresses but in this situation is entirely understandable.
Falon is also discovering more about the power she holds inside of her, sometimes she gets a bit cocky in battles and the outcome is not good because of it, which got annoying but it’s a learning curve for her and Falon eventually learns that she cannot take on everything by herself, especially when it comes to the Corbet’s.

Surrounding the romance is the continuing story-line of the Blood Moon Rising and the battle between the Lycan’s and Slayers. Such a war doesn’t happen without lots of blood falling and casualties but all the packs are gearing up and preparing for a victory. The slayers aren't making it easy for them though and now they want both Falon and the Eye of Fenrir.
When Falon and Lucien get together though is when the story really starts to sizzle. Lucien is passion personified. If you thought Falon and Rafael had some chemistry than you haven’t seen anything yet. Lucien brings out a whole new sensual side in Falon and I was surprised that the pages didn’t combust in my hands. I just loved these two together!
There were some inconsistencies between the first novel, Blood Law, and Bloodright that bugged me a bit. In Blood Law it was fourteen years ago that Rafael killed Lucien’s Chosen One while in Bloodright it is changed to sixteen years ago. Rafael and Lucien’s age is also changed from nineteen to seventeen. Call it a pet peeve of mine. J
But for paranormal romance fans Bloodright had it all; wolfish romance, relationship drama and tension, edgy action and prophetic suspense and of course sizzling sex. I recommend the Blood Moon Rising series to all lovers of this genre! Expect another jaw-dropping cliffhanger though with this one. I'm counting down the days until Blood Vow now, I need to know what happens next!

Warning: Falon and Lucien are lycan and explore their sexual nature through both their human and their beast. I thought this aspect was very well written and found no complaint with these scenes but others may not find them to their liking. Also there is a little bit of delicious sandwich action going on between Lucien, Falon and Rafael. Just a teeny tiny bit but enough to leave you panting for more!

Karin Tabke has created a fascinating dystopian fantasy in her "Blood Moon Rising" series, inventing a primeval culture both vividly and compellingly depicted. Her mythologized races of Slayers and Lycan are riveting, her characterizations powerful, and plots mouthwateringly complex.

Rafael Vulkasin, Lucien Mondragon, and Falon Corbet are back for another pulse-pounding heart-wrenching round, battling inner demons, mortal enemies, and each other. These three main characters are deeply flawed but thoroughly sympathetic, thanks to Tabke's deft hand. Kudos also for expertly penning a tortured, complicated scenario that continues to surprise with twists and turns: each of these characters struggle through impossible situations, damned no matter what choices they make.

"Golden boy" Rafael is effectively marginalized in this installment, honor-bound to abide by the Blood Law, but dark and dangerous Lucien is unleashed in all his bad boy glory! He's deliciously fleshed out into a tantalizing anti-hero. Motivated by hate and lusty revenge, he practically steals Falon from his brother, lying and cheating to keep her by his side. Even so, he's impossible not to root for. Lucien is convincingly redeemed as his scarred, hardened heart opens up to love, both romantic and fraternal, once more – thanks to and in spite of Falon.

The book isn't perfect, though. Editing is still an issue, with run-on paragraphs and a confusing handling of dialogue that sometimes makes it hard to tell who's talking. It's not enough to totally pull me out of the story, but I certainly expect better from Penguin, especially when I'm paying 10 bucks for an ebook.

But far more importantly, the sassy, strong Falon I fell in love with in the first book now threatens to become an arrogant twit, frequently getting herself killed (yeah, she's died and been resurrected 3 or 4 times in the series now). She operates with an incomplete knowledge of the Lycan/Slayer world, however, which everyone around her takes advantage of, so perhaps she has some excuse for her pathological underestimation of threats and overconfidence in her own powers. But seeing how often she gets her ass handed to her, where does all her sudden cockiness as alpha female come from? She also starts spouting the mythic hero-speak favored by Lycans and Slayers alike – so much so that I desperately miss her sardonic quips from before. Both habits are annoying and feel out-of-character.

Another criticism – and I hardly believe I'm actually going to write this – but the book gets bogged down in sex scenes. Tabke competently writes steamy, explicit sex and makes it abundantly clear that werewolves are extremely libidinous creatures, but I found myself skimming through the sex scenes to get to the far more interesting verbal and emotional interplay between characters and lively action scenes. This is no small problem, as it felt like nearly half the book was spent documenting coitus-ad-nauseam.

This series is not for the faint of heart. Sexual taboos mean little to Tabke; her werewolves fight dirty and love hard. Bestiality, dubious consent, orgiastic sex, and bloodplay all feature in her work. I doubt incest will prove to be much of an obstacle for her, and I'm predicting the brothers are about to learn a serious lesson in sharing at some point in the next installment… which I will most definitely read!

I was not quite sure what to expect when I started this book but the premise of twin wolf shifters fighting over a mate had me intrigued. Lucian Mondragon is a pack alpha that has lost almost everything. His parents were killed in front of him as a child, his chosen mate was later killed right before his eyes by his twin brother. Rafael is the Vulkasin pack leader fighting to keep the chosen mate he so dearly loves. Falon, a half breed lycan and Rafael's chosen mate, is now in the middle of a pack war over the blood law they must follow. Rafael swears that the reason he killed Lucian's so called mate was because she was a slayer and not really in love with his brother. Pack law states that slayers must be killed and Rafael swears he was simply abiding the law. Without concrete proof, Lucian swears that Rafael was mistaken and claims bloodrights to kill Rafael's mate as payment for taking his. When the council agrees that Lucian's demand is just, Falon must decide, does she go with Lucian and become his mated Alpha to pack Mondragon, or does she end her life to finish the war. When the decision is taken from her, Falon must decide if she can deal with the heart break of losing her Rafa, and find a way to get under the icy exterior of her forced mate Lucian. Or will she break her vow and possibly destroy both packs.

This book took me a while to get through. While the story was intriguing, I found myself struggling to get into it at first. It took a while but once I got into the true conflict, I could not put it down. The anger Falon feels toward Lucian is fueled by passion. When the two of them are together, tension is putting it mildly. The scenes are explosive and passionate to say the least, and her determination not to hurt either of the brothers is heartbreaking. She simply can't win until they truly understand her predicament.

*****SMALL SEXUAL CONTENT WARNING / SPOILER AHEAD*****

I did enjoy the fact that as a shifter book, the author shows how the Alpha's are one with their packs and how strong pack law can be. With that said, I must add a small spoiler (and I am very against spoilers). This being a shifter book, it does involve a couple of sexual scenes involving wolves and humans. While the characters are remorseful for their actions, there is a scene when a wolf penetrates a human female and one where a human male is penetrating his female in her wolf form. In this instance it did add to the characters and it further emphasized the Alpha's need to dominate his female in any way possible. This leads to a bond with certain characters and brings up a prophecy that has been foretold about the Alphas and their mate/mates. I kept waiting to see if the prophecy in the book would be fulfilled and found myself frustrated when I was left with a cliffhanger awaiting the next book just as things were really getting interesting.

*****End WARNING / Spoiler*****

I have to say, I am curious about the next book in the series and have added it to my TBR list because I want to know what happens next. Secrets have been revealed about Falon's past and I am curious to see if there are further explanations. The Alpha's have a difficult conflict with an easy fix but have not taken that leap of faith yet. Once I became involved with the book, I was pulled in and I find that my heart has softened for the Alphas. I want to see them find their happiness and am curious to see where the author takes the series.

If you are a fan of shifter books, and don't mind the wolf/human interactions, this book is worth the read.

3.5 STARS

First off, I will say that I was a huge fan of the first book. Karin Tabke pulls no punches in this passionate and animalistic erotic romance. What I loved about the first book is its dark and sinful alpha men, Rafael and Lucien and the lone woman who stands between them.

BLOODRIGHT continues off where BLOOD LAW ended. Falon now belongs to the dark and dangerous alpha of the Mondragon clan, Lucien, her former lover’s brother. Things are a complete mess in the beginning. Falon wants nothing to do with Luca and at every turn, she makes it known that her heart lies with his brother and not with Luca. Feeling as if his pride has been tackled by a raging bull, Luca doesn’t take this rejection lightly. He’s an alpha and he also makes that known to Falon. There is no way he is backing down. She belongs to him now. And that is that.

However, Falon is also an alpha and she doesn’t yield when Luca demands her submission. What I liked about Falon in the first book and later on in this book was the fact that despite standing between two alpha men, she isn’t overshadowed by their hard personalities. She definitely holds her own and in turn, gains the respect of both the Vulkusin and Mondragon packs.

I have mixed feelings about this book because though it holds the same passion and the same intensity as the first book, I thought there were a lot of rough patches between Falon and Luca. Readers have already fallen in love with Rafa in the last book, so I was eager to see how Tabke would accomplish the hard task of making Falon love Luca just as much as Rafa in this book. At first, I didn’t feel it. Luca is the exact opposite of Rafa. Where Rafa is honor and light, Luca is torment and darkness. Luca believes that Rafa, his brother, his own blood betrayed him when he stole the life of his chosen one, Mara all those years ago. It’s why the bloodright works now because an eye for an eye means that Luca now has the power to take, or kill Rafa’s chosen one. Instead, he takes his brother’s lover, Falon into his bed.

The first sex between Falon and Luca is a hard one to read. Full of anger and without love, it made me pause because I can’t say I enjoyed it. I have no problem with rough sex, but this wasn’t about that. This was about Luca removing Rafa’s claim on Falon’s body and marking her as his own.

Later sex scenes also gave me another reason to pause. I have read many erotic romances and some of them have pushed my limits, however none of them really stand next to how I felt about this one. The wolf smexing was not to my liking. I get why the author did it. It fits the story – Luca and Falon are passionate wolves and their animalistic urges are natural, but it was just a little weird for me. That awkwardness took some of the heat from the love scenes for me.

Action like you’ve never seen before happens in the latter half of this book. Tabke really kicks things up, ending at a great time that will make readers want to know what happens next. Overall, BLOODRIGHT was another great read by Karin Tabke. I could just do without the wolf smexing next time.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS ->UNDER THE HEADING MARKED MINOR SPOILERS
"Hearts are meant to be broken,Falon, just as they are meant to heal and love again." -Lucien in Bloodright

Falon was her fun free spirited bold self as usual. Tabke made her heroine just the way i like them. Fun, Fearless and female, Falon is never afraid to take a stand and fight and that is why i love her. I fell hard for Lucien... I mean come on who could not love him he is the epitome of a Badass shifter. I love Rafe and Falon and i love Lucien and Falon just like her i can not choose. Bloodright picks up right where the first book left off with both brothers locked in a vicious fight to the death. Secrets are revealed, Omission is held, Love takes a hold of hearts and seperation becomes inevitable.

Minor Spoilers below

Tabke took no prisoners she is among the few authors who are not afraid to take risks and be Taboo. And i loved it!! ;) It does not take much for the sexy Lucien to get in btwn Falon's legs or in her heart. She begins to see and understand why Lucien is the way he is, and realizes her love for both brothers is equal and runs deep. Finally Falons mother makes an appearance in order to save Falon from the brink of death and inparts some wisdom to Falon as well. Lucien finds out a long awaited truth. And Rafa is forced to take another mate but has a hard time moving on. I loved this book and i am wating and anticipating for the 3rd book Blood Moon Rising. Awesome job Karin Tabke!!!

Book Summary below from Goodreads

But it may also doom the Alpha brothers-and the Lycan race-to extinction...

This book was the death of me!! OMG!! I can’t believe what I just read! And to be clear, the 5 stars are for Rafael and Lucien and NOT for Falon! I have to admit that Karin Tabke really knows how to write an AMAZING book full of adventure and passion! “Bloodright” is the second book in the Blood Moon Rising series and I have to tell that I couldn’t put it down!

In this book Falon is forced to leave Rafael and go with Lucien and be his mate. Falon at first doesn’t want this development but soon things become complicated. Here is when I start feeling not so warm with the heroine. At the beginning she didn’t want Lucien and she was saying how much she wants Rafael but THE SAME day she gave herself to Lucien. Sorry, but I wasn’t convinced that she did it for Rafael. Is she insane?? She made love with his brother and she believed that that’s what he wanted?? Although I admire how brave she is and how strong and how determined to save the Lycans, I truly believe that she was all the way wrong!

Of course, Lucien isn’t the bad boy that he thinks for himself. He is a man in pain, he is jealous and he only wants to be loved. He is like an angry with the world teenager! I loved him because his character has the greatest development in the story, although he made many mistakes.

Rafael is the most aggrieved in the whole story! He was kind and right from the beginning and he suffers the most! He did his best for Falon to live and now she loves his brother too! I understand that both brothers love her, but I can’t understand her. I can see why she has sympathy for Lucien. He is great and he loves her but how she can have feelings for him so quickly? And I didn’t like her attitude sometimes! She was acting like she had every right in the world! Guess what? She hadn’t! I feel sorry for her situation but I think that she would have done better!

I loved both brothers! Lucien and Rafael are two of the best male characters in a paranormal romance book! Both proud, strong and brave. They want to be loved, to love back, to do the right think even if sometimes it hurts too much.

The story is fast-paced, well-written and I can’t wait for the next book! I love the world-building and I truly believe that the author is one of the best authors ever! Have I say that the erotic scenes are amazing?????????? Yes, they are! I totally recommend this book!!

OMGOODNESS!!! Emotional rollercoaster all the way through!
Ok this 2nd installment takes you back into the world of Falon, Rafa, & Luca. The rights of the Blood Law will be avenged. But as you are thrust into this crazy, angry, decadent, sexy, erotic world, you see something that you didn't expect was possible. The dawning of a new love. While different, is just as passionate if not more. And so many things are at stake now. What will become of these 3, not to mention the world of their packs?

This one had me on edge, so much so that I actually had to walk away from it for a few days. I cried. I bit off all my nails. And now I have no idea where this story will land.

I will say in certain major scenerios, Falon got on my nerves. She did things that just did not make sense to me. She urked me during those times. And for me it kinda wrecked the flow of the story. So this is why I only gave it 4 stars.

This book overall definitely pushes the envolope that was placed upon us in the 1st book. It pushed me passed my comfort zone on all levels. There is nothing more I can say except this is just one of those books you just have to read. But I urge you to read the 1st in this series "Blood Law" before starting this one.

I hope Ms. Tabke can keep the trend going with the final installment. I will say that I will be highly disappointed if the final book does not blow these first 2 out of the water. There is just way too much of a cliff hanger and other plots left open, for the final book not to go out with a bang instead of a fizzle.

*Crosses fingers* Here's to hoping.

Bloodright by Karin Tabke

What a good series, it’s too bad I have to wait for the next one…again! I took me a bit to get into the story because I read the first book so long ago but after that hiccup I was reading at a fast clip. Yes, read them in order, yes the end is a ‘to be continued’, YES they are well worth the wait.

Falon is a kick ass heroine. She wants her cake and I’m guessing [please] she will eat it too in the next book. LOL!

Lucien is the bad boy. The dark half of the twin set with the apadrayva piercing (look it up...wink) and the smoking tattoo that extend to Mr. Piercing. Mr. Revenge had no feelings humm... Side note-I was really disappointed that the cover of this book didn’t show his tat. The one on top, not his extension one…literally!;o. That would probably get this book banned. LMAO

Rafael is the honorable one. He is the light half of the twins and Falon’s chosen mate in the first book and odd man out in this story.

My…have the tides turned in this story and not in a bad way to my way of thinking. You learn so much more about Luca and discover that he is not so different from his brother at his core, in all the ways that count. Rafe is desolate as the loss of his mate but to a degree is now closer to his brother. Falon is learning so much more about her powers and finding her inner strength.

The line that comes to mind when I read this story is “If can’t be with the one you love…love the one your with”.

Favorite scene…

“She sniffed back her tears, wiping her nose on his biceps….Thank you for that, he said grimly. She started crying again. Falon! I was kidding. Blow your nose all over me if you want.”

Frankly, I don't know what to say except, that Karin has done it again. When I finished Blood Law, the first book in the series I felt like I had been in the book. I was stunned and felt dazed. Then slowly came to my senses and rushed to the computer to get the next book. When I saw it would not come out until next year, I felt like I've been punched in gut. After that KILLER cliffhanger how could I wait so long?? I was talking to my friends for days about how much I loved it, and how the waiting is killing me. Not often do I feel that way after reading a book. In fact, there were only two books that made feel that. But I feel it now.

From the first page to the last Bloodright is breathtakingly exciting, heartbreakingly sad or intensely romantic...Scorching hot. Put aside everything you are doing and go find a bookstore, because this compelling lycan trio is waiting for you.

Bloodright is book two in the Blood Moon Rising Trilogy and what a great sequel it was to Blood Law (Blood Moon Trilogy #1) by Karin Tabke . I think I went through every emotion reading this book. My heart is so torn between Lucien and Rafael. At times I was so frustrated with Falon...well, all three of them really...I just wanted to slap someone. Imagine my husbands surprise when out of the blue I slapped him.

I'm really loving this trilogy and highly recommend these books. My only advice is you might want to wait till after the third one comes out in December to start reading them. Otherwise you're going to find yourself extremely frustrated to know what happens like I am now...I guess my husband in for another surprise after he gets home from work today.

*Halfway through the book, 4AM*
Love that we get to see how Luca actually loves her and isn't just all about vengeance. Love the jealousy since that's my fav. drug in any love story.
Okay, now since I have to sleep sometime, I skiped forward to see parts here and there. *Crying and running around "nyaaa nooo" TTOTT* Bad Rafael, I think I'm gonna hate him. DON'T LOVE HIM!!! *crying some more* Okay I think I should go to sleep, and cry some more while sleeping? Maybe. Anyways I'll write more on how I feel about the situation when I get myself to read the rest of the book, since I feel it's won't be anytime soon. Too depressing? Run away! That's how I got unfinished things (kdrama) from 5-6+ years ago.
