Two cops… Bibi Ferrer, San Diego homicide, receives a Billionaire Anson Williams, will be done in by his new wife, Alexandra. Despite her best efforts, Bibi fails to prevent Williams’ death. Worse, she can’t prove Alexandra is the killer. All she can do is follow Alexandra to her Caribbean lair, the island of St. Bertram. Things are even more personal for retired Chicago police captain Terry Dunne. His younger brother is killed by a contract assassin. His only The hit-man might have unfinished business waiting for him on St. Bertram. Two killers . . . Avice Toussaint, formerly Alexandra Williams, isn’t every man’s idea of a knockout—only those with a pulse. She’s bored with luring wealthy men to their deaths. Problem is, her father wants her to continue. He’s ex-KGB. He kills people who defy him, no exceptions made for family. George Beecher was an SAS commando, a master of combat. He was far less suited to following orders. After his court martial and discharge from the military, he continued to do the only thing he knew kill people. This time for money. One plan . . . Bibi and Terry cross paths. Not wanting to alert their prey, they decide to shadow each other’s killer. Get the goods on the killers and see that justice is done. It’s a plan…but when do those things ever work out?
Joseph Flynn has been published both traditionally — Signet Books, Bantam Books and Variance Publishing — and through his own imprint, Stray Dog Press, Inc. Both major media reviews and reader reviews have praised his work. Booklist said, “Flynn is an excellent storyteller.” The Chicago Tribune said, “Flynn [is] a master of high-octane plotting.” The most repeated reader comment is: Write faster, we want more.
Wow! This one had so many twists that it was hard to keep up. Interesting thoughts on politics in a country with completely different methods than the U.S. A cop from the US goes to a Caribbean island to track down a serial killer. What she finds is quite different from what she expected. Joe Flynn knows how to make you think and keep you flipping pages!
That was a really good book, couldn't put it down! I liked the characters Bibi and Ray, but actually most of the main characters, villains included, seemed real and true to their persona, even when they were swiping names back and forth. And the hurricane certainly increased the tension -- yes, very realistic. And thanks to the author for no typos.
A small tropical island is a sanctuary for some including hardened and successful criminals. One such denizen is a beautiful black widow and her former kgb fugitive father. The widow is bored with the wooing and murdering and wants to off her father. But on the island are other killers, some who want to help her and some who want to kill het. Into the mix is a determined female detective from California. She must work with the police chief, a decent sort with a marriage on the rocks and deal with island politics.
This is a fun read. The pace is good and the plot entertaining without being convoluted. There are too many characters and it felt at times I was keeping score. But still well written and interesting.
This book was phenomenal. I couldn't stop reading. Everything was perfect. Written perfectly. Characters were great. The storyline you can keep up with the characters easily with the storyline even though there are more characters coming. The storyline just keeps getting better and it adds up and the plot just keeps thickening but it gets better. It just never non-stop got better until the end. It was wonderfully written and finally I got to be able to read a book where the conclusion is beautifully wrapped up!
This a very good and entertaining book. There are a lot of laughs and serious parts in the book. All of the characters are very entertaining and have great personalities, even though some of the characters are bad guys and gals. The description of the hurricane makes you not want to be involved in one. Ghost island is a laugh a minute. You can almost feel bad for the way it made the characters action. This a fun but.
I believe I’ve read almost all of his books and I’m continually amazed by his subject range. This one held my interest until the very last page. So many characters and storylines yet they all meshed together in the end. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the action wasn’t as consistent as I’d like. Still really good.
I have enjoyed all of Joseph Flynn’s books. This one is one of my favorites. Good plot with a couple of nice twists. Good characters. Nice locale. Mr. Flynn is a good story teller. Recommended.
Great reading and a lot of fun. I really like this author. The characters were very real and entertaining. I will be starting another book by this author very soon.
Here's minimal for you: This is one excellent book! Great plots; great characters; lotsa humor ... Read it and weep ... with joy at how much you'll love it. Flynn's a wizard with words.
I read 75% of this one and gave up on it. Too many characters, many of which are using at least one alias. When you reach a point where you no longer care how a book ends, it's time to put it down.
This was a fun read, tricky characters, laughs sometimes, then a gasp of two with a turn on the stury. Joseph Flynn has a creative mind. I will probably read more of his books, the style is appealing.
Well written story about a tropical island filled with various assassins, thieves and rebels and it all comes to a head when a hurricane bears down on it. Great read
It would help if there was a break between paragraphs to indicate a change in location and topic. Also, proofreading for syntax and misspelled words would help. The storyline is good but the flow of ideas is interrupted by rereading sentences to get the correct wording. This is a condition occurring in all of Mr Flynn's books. It's a good thing the stories are good enough to put up with these irritations or I would have stopped reading these books halfway through the first one.
The storyline is good enough that I keep reading these books even though I get irritated with the many spelling and grammatical errors. It would help the reader if there were breaks between paragraphs when the characters and locations change. I have read at least a dozen of Mr Flynn's books and these things are consistent in each book. Choosing a different proofreader might be a good idea.
Having read three other books by Joseph Flynn I wondered if THIS book really was written by the same author. Too much. Of everything. As if throwing in one more person, one more storyline, one more something, would be essential to making the main story better. It didn't. In my opinion all those additional "things" were created only for one reason: the big-bang towards the end. Didn't work for me. Wasn't that much fun to read, because the additional story-lines, characters, circumstances felt so "enforced". Less would have been more - in my opinion.
