Watch Your Back,

Rashard “Stone” Williams, a Houston police officer, returns to his hometown of Montgomery, Alabama, to bury his father. He finds there is more to his father’s death. Rashard sets out to find the truth, no matter what it takes.

Even though this book is less than 200 pages, the author does an excellent job of capturing the attention of his readers. “Freedom is Not Free” is a very fast paced story, and with every turn of the page comes more adventure. This book will have you rushing to see what happens at the end. Readers of this King James’ novel will find out nothing is ever what it seems, trust no one and always watch your back.

This book had it all from crime, embezzelment, politics power ad secrets.
This story has it all, big crime in a little town with corruption that had been hidden for years until one day when it all comes down. When he comes home to his dads funeral he had no idea the secrets that his dad held. People are being killed to avoid explosion of the big secret. The more you dig for answers you are involved, not knowing who to trust.

Well, the story was semi-interesting, but not very original. Television shows have done and re-done the story of political corruption in a small town which is taken care of by a righteous cop. The writing was a little hard for me to follow. The characters all speak in Ebonics which, if you're not used to it is a little difficult to follow. Additionally, characters didn't use many contractions when speaking. That may be grammatically correct but most people use the simple contractions in every day speaking. Without contractions the dialogue didn't seem very natural to me. The main character, Houston Police Detective Rashard Williams is a tough no-nonsense cop who isn't afraid to bend the rules to solve crimes. Again, this is very similar to what you find on most cop TV shows. But, it was a satisfying story that ended happily.

I really enjoyed this book from this new indie author. The story was original and it took place in my hometown. That was cool, since I don't know of too many books set in Montgomery. It was very good. I think future projects from this author will be great. I think anyone that enjoys action packed adventures will enjoy this book.

Good story, horribly written. The writing style was very juvenile as the book seemed to have been written by a 16 year old.
