This book actually deserves 10 stars! I've said it before and I'll say it again "You cannot go wrong with DK (Publisher)!" They do it right 100% of the time.

Each recipe tells the amount it makes, the time it takes to prep, the time it takes to bake and how long the item will last.

There are chilling times, rising times, special equipment needed (if required) and more!

There is a list of ingredients (with measurements), instructions (method) and sometimes, a "Baker's Tip".

Almost all of the recipes include a color picture -- sometimes there is a color picture for one item and then no picture for the variation(s) or vice versa.

Everything provides step-by-step instructions. Often, there are step-by-step instructions with color pictures of what your item should look like at each step. Don't let this freak you out! They do not do this because the recipes are too hard! Most anybody can make these items!

I xeroxed many items for personal use cannot wait to try them!!!!

I wanted to give this book five stars when I first picked it up. I love the DKP books, and this one looked like another winner. The photos are gorgeous — however, the instructions, not so much.

Could we have had 1 1/8 cups of butter, rather than 18 tablespoons? Shortening was given in cups, why not butter? Although I understand the need for consistency. Sometimes ingredients are given in ounce and metrics and sometimes cups and ounces, And, nowhere in the book could I find instructions on how much a cup of flour weighs or how it is measured (dip and sweep or spoon and sweep). A few suggestions would not have gone amiss, either. Like what size egg whites in the Lemon Meringue pie or the grade of maple syrup in Pecan Pie. Most would know, but would a beginner?

I must to say this is a great book! If I can I will give 10 stars! I love this book, and very useful for me. Really details are in there for people to learn, and as long as you follow the instructions, will be no problem with backing. I made many different cakes, breads based on this book, it shows the pictures and give really clear steps with every move you gonna do. So great book!

the recipes seem a bit dated to me and I found all the photos to be a bit overwhelming, I personally would prefer to watch a video instruction but if you don't have access to video this would be a good alternative.

I adored reading through this book. The receipes are for the most part, absolutely beautiful, and look fairly simple to bake. There are a lot of favourites among the recipes, as well as some items I'd never heard of before, and some staples I never would have thought to bake myself, such as crumpets adn English muffins. I'm looking forward to trying out many of the recipes in this book.

Pictures of Recipes? Yes, and many have pictures for each step in the recipe.
Commentary on Recipes? A little.
Nutrition Facts? Nope.
Recipe style? Almost anything you could want to bake, sweet and savory.
Any keepers? So many I should just buy the book.

Easy to follow recipes and beautiful images. For several of the recipes it will give you the basic recipe and then variations.
