Luna Lynn Miller awakens to find herself naked and freezing in the pitch black nothingness of a cement pit. Instantly panic stricken, she discovers that blood is steadily seeping from several deep cuts on her neck and wrists.
Mysteriously elusive, her captors give her a choice; she can either drink a supposedly lifesaving concoction from their chalice or die.
Now, there's one thing you must understand about Luna, she's no shrinking violet. And she won't stand for scare tactics or manipulation. Beyond that, she's dead set against cooperating with her kidnappers.
Nonetheless, Luna's in for quite an adventure when she discovers that her future's irrevocably intertwined with the world of the vampire aristocracy. Will she give in to their demands or choose her own path?
The characters were good. I enjoyed Luna, she was strong willed but a little too defiant. Her inner dialog got old quick. I am pretty sure she talked to herself more than anyone else in the book.
This was an ok read. I started out liking Luna but towards the end she just started petering out for me. I am also not sure I understand how easy it was for her to kill her dad when he's such a big, powerful vampire. I don't know if it's because I had started skimming instead of reading so maybe I missed the set up. The premise of the story was good but not sure I want to read the rest of the books in the series. I also wasn't a big fan of Lucien always calling Luna "girlie". That could be just because I can't stand for someone to call me that. It irritates the _____ out of me.
not too bad. A ton of inner voice dialogue which was distracting at times. Other than that the book was pretty good. And being a Kansas girl, it sparked my interest and I would read if again. Looked for the sequal but was unable to find it.
