This is a short story. It ends around 35% on a kindle, 63 pages. The rest is all about the authors other books. The story is told from Jenny's point of view. Jenny gets herself in some weird and funny situations. I did feel the book ended a bit a little bit abruptly.
I love Jenny Lopez in this series she's the friend that every girl needs so a little spin off just for her to be the star is great loved it read in a few hours
What a fabulous little read. I sat and read this in one sitting in about 90 minutes. I am not a reader of "chic lit" but wanted something to read that wasn't going to take me long. This book just seemed as if it was going to be a light hearted read, and it was just that. The book mainly centres around Jenny, but then there's her friends Erin and Angela. Jenny's life seems to be in a mess since coming back from LA. No real job, no roommate and no boyfriend as she's been dumped by the love of her life. I loved going through Jenny's week with her. I found that I was easily able to picture her and her friends and her little apartment. I found the book funny and was actually quite sad when it came to an end as I wanted to carry on her life's journey for her. I have never heard of this author but will certainly hunt down her books. It has also changed my mind a little about chic-lit books, so I won't rule them out in the future. Great read. Give it a try

I love all of the books by Lindsey Kelk so when I saw this short novella for free I just knew that I had to get it.
It is a really good quick read book by the talented Lindsey Kelk! Everything you could expect from a 'chick lit' book and more! Jenny Lopez is one of my favourite characters from the 'I Heart' Series, in this book we get more of a taste of this character, it is a fun book to read while waiting for the next book to come out.
I know this is only a novella, but it seemed like it was only just getting started and suddenly it ends... Just a short snippet into the life and thoughts of Jenny Lopez, wish it was a full book. I've enjoyed seeing things from another characters perspective.
Too short to really have a good opinion about it. Fun to read for sure, but not more than that. Not much extra on the series, and could have gone without reading it

Jenny Lopez Has A Bad Week is an exclusive short story from Lindsey Kelk, the author of the I Heart novels, and gives Angela’s best friend Jenny a voice. It’s a mere 82 pages long and it took me about 40 minutes or so to complete it. I must admit, I’m not a fan of the I Heart novel – Angela is one of the softest most annoying heroines ever (she’s like a diluted Becky Bloomwood and I love Becky). However, when I was reading the I Heart novels, I did love Jenny. She was spunky and she was, frankly, everything Angela was not. She had life, she had verve, she was funny. So I was thrilled when I heard about the short story focusing completely on her.
I thoroughly enjoyed Jenny Lopez Has A Bad Week, Jenny is a total star, and carries the book beautifully, and I must admit, I was sad the novel was only 82 pages long because I would have quite happily continued reading. Jenny could easily carry off a full-length novel, and if Lindsey ever felt like writing it, I’d certainly pick it up. There’s definitely a story there somewhere, and the 82 pages just whizzed by. Sure it was a teensy bit predictable, but to be honest it was easy to brush that aside, it 82 pages so it needed to have some predictability to it or else it would never have gotten finished.
My only teensy tiny complaint is more of a personal one. In the I Heart novels Angela continually refers to men as boys. It drove me nuts then and it drove me nuts now whilst reading Jenny Lopez, because they still have that affliction. It drives me loopy, but again I think it’s more a personal thing, and probably many people won’t have a problem with it. It just seems patronising and childish particularly since they’re meant to be grown women. Even if you’re not a fan of the I Heart books you can still pick this up. It’s short and sweet (and free for a limited time) and it’s an easy way to pass an hour or so. I sincerely hope Kelk decides to expand and give Jenny her own full length novel. She deserves it.
Over the last year or so Lindsey Kelk has found her way into my heart and become one of my favorite authors. Her fantastic I Heart series has really caught the imagination of Chick Lit lovers all round the world with her protagonist, Angela Clark who moves to New York to start a brand new life. Oh how we have lived vicariously through her life as she lands a plum job on a magazine, nabs a herself a cute hipster boyfriend and travels to exciting cities such as LA and Paris to cover stories. Lindsey has been a very busy lady not only is she working on a new I Heart book she has also written a stand alone title called The Single Girls To-Do List which is released in June and she has also found time to write a spin off of the I Heart series. Jenny Lopez Has a Bad Week is a short digital download which follows Angela’s best friend as she struggles to restart her life after moving back to NYC from LA. A native New Yorker, Jenny’s dream came true when she landed a cool gig as a stylist in La La Land and where she rubs shoulders with starlets. Also she had Angela for company so the two would explore LA night life and get into all sorts of mischief. However Jenny’s luck ran out when she found out that her flat mate was a high class hooker and it was time to head back east.
So she is back in the Big Apple but at her lowest ebb with no job, flat mate or boyfriend so she sets out to rectify this and fast. Pretty soon she has sorted out a viewing with a potential flat mate and has booked two dates with exciting prospects. It looks like the job situation has been sorted when her mate Erin hooks her up with a job to babysit a supermodel. Piece of cake she thinks after all one thing she is good at is is dealing with people, except she finds out that the supermodel is a real handful. It looks like Jenny is going to have a really bad week. We always take the lead protagonist in a book to our hearts but it is often the supporting characters that often steal the show and with theI Heart series, Jenny Lopez with her sassy wit stole the show. After all it was she who got Angela back on her feet when she first landed in NYC and looking fabulous in her designer and vintage outfits. So it is only right that Jenny should get her own spin off book where we get to know the little minx much better. It has been a while since I last read an I Heart title so it was really great to catch up with Jenny and Angela, after all they do lead the most fabulous lives. In a nutshell Jenny Has a Bad Week was short but very very sweet.
My Kindle made this book seem a lot longer than it was because at the end there were big samples from the first two books in the 'I Heart' series and another book by Lindsey Kelk. Which is sad because I would have liked this to be longer.
It was a cute read, something that was different from reading about Angela's life which was nice.
The story follows Jenny through a week of disappointing dates and possibly a new career venture. I feel like it's so short I don't have a lot to say about it.
I was expecting more for Jenny though, I don't know what it is but I wanted more about her and more thoughts? I don't know, I think I wanted more in-depth about Jenny as we only know her from the eyes of Angela, and in Angela's eyes, Jenny seems to just be the best. Which isn't bad but at the same time it would be great just to know Jenny as herself.
I also don't like where this story ended for Jenny, it seemed like things had just begun looking up for her again and I want to know more of what happened, I mean I know we will probably find out in the next main series book but it won't be focused on as much because we will return to Angela, though at this stage I would much rather hear about Jenny.
Oh well, guess we can't have everything.
Like I said before I think this is a cute read, though way too short because I feel like I was just getting into it only to find it was ending. Here's hoping we find out what happens with Jenny and her new career and possibly her new boyfriend(?) when we return to the main series with I Heart Vegas.
This was a quick read. When I was reading, all I could think of was how quickly this short story will age. The book contains so many references to current pop culture that it's distracting, and even more so when in 5 years you have no idea who and what the people, TV shows and fashion labels mentioned in the book are.
An average read which didn't require much concentration . I normally love chic lit but this was a little too cheesy and too much use of the word " dude". Not sure I would be in a hurry to read another .
This was a bit meh. It was okay but felt dated and a touch boring. Good if you still hanker after sex and shopping books with very little plot and no conflict.
I don’t think this added anything to the storyline going on in the I Heart series and while it was fun to see things from someone else’s perspective, I don’t like Jenny. She starts off having a bad week (no roommate, job or boyfriend) then it all turns around. Yay. The content is very dated, the tension is absent, and the ending is super abrupt. I read this thinking it might add to the overarching story, but after reading it I wish I would’ve skipped it.
SPOILERS AHEAD: She gets a job as a supermodel assistant and the supermodel also loses her boyfriend and is down on her luck so she asks to move in. She finds out her ex, Jeff, is engaged but then she starts dating one of Alex’s friends.
This was a very short story highlighting one of the auxiliary characters. There were a lot of silly situations that were sometimes funny, sometimes cringy, probably didn't age well. It had some Sex in the City vibes which is necessarily my cup of tea. I definitely like Kelk's newer stuff more.
Jenny Lopez is one of my favourite characters so I’m glad there are a couple of short stories based mostly on her. She’s sassy and funny and she is a girl that would always have your back. If ever I run off to New York after catching my fiancé cheating on me then I want to find Jenny Lopez so she can sort my life out like she did Angela’s . If you don’t know what I’m on about read I Heart New York. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed
Although a short story, it was brilliant to see a week in Jennys eyes. I wish the story was longer, I do love Jenny Lopez!
I loved how Lindsey continued the storyline from Paris and it flowed really well. I am rooting for Jennys new potential man and roomie and hoping we here more about this in the main books.
I started the "I Heart" series back in 2017/2018 but only read the first three books. When I found out that there was a short story that came after the third book I thought it was the perfect way to get back into the series before I read the 4th book. I love Jenny Lopez as a character and think that she sounds like a great friend to have! A total girls girl.
Read this to have the complete series under my belt. As this is novella, it does not tell you much at all and frankly Angela is just better companion for me then Jenny - based on those 100 pages. How many times exactly is too much for use of Dude? Count and check :D Also, you do not have to read this to have complete understanding of I hear series.
I missed Jenny 😭😭 and having a book told from her perspective is the dream! Sometimes I really wondered what went through her mind (not that I got all the answers, of course). Seriously, Jenny is the kind of best friend you wouldn't want to miss and I couldn't love her more (actually, on second thought, one can always love her more <3).
A little spin off from the I Heart series. The story focuses on Jenny, learning about Jenny's life since arriving back from LA. It was nice to learn about the real Jenny.
Looking forward to another instalment and spin off of the I Heart Series.
