This book is a good introduction to MDM for those not familiar with the space. It is written as a textbook, so it is a bit long yet thorough on the topic of MDM. The graphics provide helpful context on key topics, particularly the discussions about service-oriented architecture that make up a major portion of this book.
One area that is a bit light is the Data Governance portion of the book. While it gets equal billing in the title, there is only one chapter really devoted to the topic. The authors state that other sources provide more general background. While that may be true, why not include that info in an additional chapter which people can skip if they already know the key concepts?
For those in the IT Service Management space (ITSM), it is a good thought to learn more about these topics because Configuration Management has a strong linkage to MDM. I have a new appreciation for the complexity of managing data. Since ITSM heavily focuses on the use of information, we need to approach the setup of CMS/CMDB systems using MDM concepts.
