I'm more a theory man than lab hands on

The version of this book I am reading is very dated. It's extremely thorough, and is/was intended for Electrician's License preparation. But it's hard to read, and hard to follow. It's not a book you just pick up and read - it's more for comprehensive preparation with tests in every chapter, etc.
