How well do you really know the person in bed beside you?
Brynn Nelson is living the American dream. She has a nice home in the suburbs, a husband working on Wall Street, and two fabulous kids. But when the FBI rings the doorbell at midnight, storming her home and arresting her husband Tom for murder, her peaceful world is shattered.
When Tom is killed under mysterious circumstances within hours of his arrest, Brynn finds herself following a trail of cryptic clues planted by Tom himself. Soon it's clear that her husband was leading a secret life, and now those same secrets threaten to kill her next.
Good thriller. Liked how the story moved and how the different characters were slowly revealed. I would recommend this book to anybody interested in this Genre. It will keep you guessing and you will continue reading to see what is going to happen next.
Poorly written with enough plot holes to drive a Hummer through. Although the story could be good the writing was so juvenile it was hard not to laugh and the characters acted in unbelievable ways. Don't bother reading this one.
FANTASTIC Thriller! Takes you on a mile a minute ride from page one & throughout.
My attention span is short, but this kept me constantly interested with the short chapters that move us from place to place. Focus was distributed from character to character, but it was not at all confusing or hard to keep track of.
I notice other reviewers taking issue with spelling and grammatical errors & while these things are extremely distracting to me, too, I pay attention to these things and take time to report on this area as well.
I read this on my kindle August 15, 2012 but downloaded it some time ago - maybe a few months or so. I had VERY FEW spelling/grammatical errors on my copy. Here and there might be a missing word or a grammar error, but I feel that the editing is very comparable to the typical big-house published books we're used to reading. So, don't look past this great book because of a poor editing complaint. I simply didn't have problems with that at all and there is no way I wouldn't have noticed. Also mentioned was foul language...I didn't notice that either. There must have recently been an amended version; therefore this previous stated editing issue is now a NON-issue. And now we can concentrate on the story...
Extremely enjoyable book! I'd put it in my top 20 best thrillers ever. Some parts of it seem a little farfetched, but hey - I'll occasionally fake gullibility if it means the difference between an okay book and a spectacular one. Very plain and easy use of language, but still intelligently written.
I'm giving this one a very deserved 5 stars! Not moving or life changing enough to be in my all-time favorite book list, but it was a grand ride and WELL worth my time. I would certainly love to read another title by this author!
They are watching, listening in, and following you. Don't believe anything. Looks are very deceiving. This was a pretty good mystery. There are a lot of twists, turns, and cast of characters it gets kinda hard to follow all of it. It starts with Tom getting arrested for murder, in the middle of the night, and escalates from there. Sometimes you need to question your friend's actions.
Never think you've got this one figured out. There's a twist at every turn of the page. Well written and easily flowing, this book is one you won't want to put down.
It was fine... I just really didn't care about anyone in the story, especially the main character. I didn't believe her. Hence, I was not invested at all in what happened and it was a very surface level skim read for me.
Masses of intrigue One of the easiest reads I've come across in long while, it's was immensely enjoyable and flowed so well. It's not an action book but it is packed full of intrigue with never a dull moment. Some reviewers have commented that it is a farfetched story and to a certain degree some elements are, but not overly so. But hey, so what, sit back and enjoy this engrossing thriller. This was my first read by this author and I was very impressed with his writing style. I did find what I thought was an unexplained hole I in the plot and there were a couple of irritating peripheral characters so I'm not describing the book as perfect.... Just extremely good and worthy of the 5 stars
Comments: - I don't read thrillers often, only because I don't come across them as much but I'm glad I came across this one. The writing of it was great in giving me visuals of the scenes, even the action-packed, on-the-run type. - The storyline in general was intriguing enough for me to be genuinely surprised when *spoiler alert* Tod and Daphne end up alive and it all turned out to be a master plan (maybe something that could have been predictable to the daily thriller reader?) - I'll put it down to lack of experience that I didn't see that one coming.
With this story, I never knew what was going to happen next. I thought Brynn was going to totally fall apart when she heard her husband was dead. Her best friend, Sadie, wasn't the friend she thought she was. In this story nothing is what it appears to be, but you need to read the book to find out what I mean. I could not put this book down until the end. A fascinating read.
I was going to rate it 4 stars until the end. Whatever happened to Mr Z? I guess it's left open for a sequel or I missed something? I agree that I have a difficult time believing a smart family man will take this offer of "help" knowing ahead of time the possible consequences. But overall, I enjoyed the action and the mystery and the thrill ride.
I don't usually choose "thrillers" but this was a pretty good book. (Mostly) smart characters, very fast moving, and lots of twists and turns kept my attention throughout the book. It is amazing what some people will do to help their friends, and how they are not always repaid in kind. I would give this book 3-1/2 stars. Might be a little far-fetched, but that was half the fun.
This book was like an action movie. The thrill was maintained throughout. The only downside for me was that Mr. Z and his men "got away". I mean they were portrayed like these extremely dangerous guys, i don't get why the Nelsons were so comfortable going back to their normal way of life.
This is a great book except that there are many many typographical errors, missing words, and many sentences that don’t make sense. I’m available if you need a proofreader.
This certainly was strange. I cant believe the twists and turns. I would have been comatose as the wife. Anyway, i really enjoyed the characters and the story.
This was a real page turner and when you think you have it all figured out...bam...along comes a twist. I would have given it five stars but I felt the editing and proof-reading could be improved
