I have two versions of this books, a 2012 and 2023. If you are hoping for a reference guide with detailed information on varieties, print quantities, and price charts, then this is not the book for you. This title is really more of an advertising pamphlet for the author's store. Including actual advertisements in the book, it is only 79 pages long (2023 version).

Some material is even omitted entirely:
--> Ex. 1) Book only mentions common reproductions of the 1864 $100 T65 note using serial number 92685, but many other serials are known for reproductions of this note; this is a common theme with many notes in the book.
--> Ex. 2) 1864 $100 T65 note has multiple series (no series listing, SERIES I, SERIES II). The book does not make any mention of the existence of the multiple series of this note. Consequently no population information is given for these series.

Much of the information contained is vague:
--> Ex. 1) With all entries the author provides values by stating 'The notes are valued at $X to $X.'. No detail is given as to what value each grade is worth or how to determine grade. At least something is given for a ballpark range; an experienced collector can piece additional info from outside sources to make informed guesses.

I would recommend the author commit to either producing a catalog of the items they have for sale or producing a true reference book. If the choose the path of the former, then they should include much more information about their inventory as of a specific date (if the book version 2025 is being printed, then take count of your Confederate Note inventory as of 12/31/2024 and include all of your current totals as of that date). If you choose the latter, then make the book much longer and include a detailed chart for pricing (Eg. A note in Good condition would sell for $X, a note in Fine would sell for $X, a VF note for $X, etc.). If you include a topic, please perform research to provide all reasonably available info about that topic (Eg. the Havana counterfeits - you mention their existence, but that is really it).
