Nick and Ellie are cornered as the net of the Time Keepers closes in around them. Can Nick find a way to keep Ellie safe or will she succumb to the will of the Governor?
Nicki J. Markus / Asta Idonea was born in England but now lives in Adelaide, South Australia. She has loved both reading and writing from a young age and is also a keen linguist, having studied several foreign languages.
She launched her writing career in 2011 and divides her efforts not only between MM and mainstream works but also between traditional and indie publishing. Her works span the genres, from paranormal to historical and from contemporary to fantasy. It just depends what story and which characters spring into her mind!
As a day job, she works part time as an administrator and part time as a freelance editor and proofreader, and in whatever spare time she can find she enjoys music, theater, cinema, photography, and sketching. She also loves history, folklore and mythology, pen-palling, and travel, all of which have provided plenty of inspiration for her writing.
Actually a 4 1/2 star, but dang them not allowing 1/2 star ratings.
In the previous two months I have had the privilege of reviewing Nicki J Markus' eBook Time Keeper series, which she is releasing in 4 parts and this month is no different.
In part one, Running Blind, we learn that there is a world where werewolves, witches and vampires have come out into the open regarding their existence and a young man, Nick, has a chance encounter with Ellie, who is on the run from someone. We are left wondering if this change encounter will cause a problem for Nick, who has his own secrets to keep.
The Beast Within, is part two of Time Keepers. After their chance encounter and narrow escape, Nick and Ellie are on the move again trying to avoid the pursuing Governor and Time Keepers, but this time Nick’s secret is out. Will they be able to keep under the radar or is their time up?
As we begin part three, Consequences, Nick and Ellie become cornered and captured by the Governor and his goons. They duo are separated and it appears to be up to Nick to get them out before Ellie succumbs to the will of the Governor and before any of the Governor's resources are used on him.
Consequences (Time Keepers) by Nicki J Marcus is by far my favorite part of the upcoming 4 part saga. It starts out with some intense action and is quickly followed up with some mystery and intrigue. We learn more about why the Governor and the Time Keepers are chasing Ellie, as well, as what they may have planned with Nick now that they know his secret. I'm still slightly irritated that I have to wait for the final installment, but as I said, that is a fault of an impatient reader and notsomuch of the author. It actually speaks highly of the author and the talents to keep a reader engaged.
Consequences is the 3rd in the Time Keepers series. This series is a total of 4 short stories – very short, each are 10 pages at most. Because of this, the pacing is fast but it leaves you wanting more. In this installment, Nick and Ellie are still trying to avoid being captured. The Governor knows who and what they are, and will stop at nothing to capture them. This particular story didn't have much together time for Nick and Ellie. I'd like to see more between these two, but things are happening so fast there isn't time for that. As with the other installments, this one goes by extremely quickly, is well written, and ends with a cliff-hangar. I'm looking forward to the last installment to see how this story plays out!
A futuristic tale set in a world where the existence of vampires, werewolves and witches is accepted, a chance encounter with a girl named Ellie is about to change Nick's seemingly normal life forever.
Ellie is a time-traveller, and she is on the run from the Governor who seeks to harness her abilities for his own political advantage. Nick, too, harbours a dangerous secret, and the moment the two cross paths it doesn't take long for the adventure, intrigue and excitement to begin.
Brilliantly written with fascinating characters, this is, to date, my favourite work by Nicki J. Markus. I just wish it was longer!
