The authorised biography of the hugely popular Aussie boxer and WBA light-heavyweight champion Danny Green.
Former world boxing champion Danny 'the Green Machine' Green's raw courage in the boxing ring - and his humanity outside of it - has made him one of Australia's most admired fighters. In CLOSED FIStS, OPEN HEARt: tHE DANNY GREEN StORY he documents the life of a modern day gladiator in a series of fast paced anecdotes which get straight to the heart of boxing and why men continue to pursue the sport.
I have read a lot of sporting biographies and this wasn't one of the best, but it was still ok. It was a little confusing to read because at times he appeared to contradict himself a little. For example he would sound humble and then would tell us how good he was at some things. The book ends with his retirement but then of course he would later make a comeback so all he wrote about retiring is also contradicted. Overall though, he appeared honest and I liked his thoughts on Anthony Mundine who he had a great rivalry with. He was very fair in his comments on him. As I said, it was an OK read.
