About the Author: Raynesha Pittman grew up as one of L.A's many troubled youth which led her into serving four years around Los Angeles juvenile corrections centers, placements, and camps. She first recognized her love for writing while incarcerated. Her first manuscript was written to her mother in hopes of giving her insight to what Raynesha was going through as a teen but never published. One positive Raynesha had during her troubled years was book smarts, her ticket out of the hands of correctional facilities. She was an honors student since kindergarten, certified gifted in the third grade, and was sent to Woodland hills, CA for a more challenging education, yet she had to be placed in Honors classes there too. Her temper and fighting had her removed from the enriched schools but that didn't stop her. She crossed the stage as the valedictorian of her high school a month after turning 16 years old, her graduation credits were meet at 15 and she received acceptance letters to five out-of-state private institutions of higher education which she later declined offers to due to still being on probation until 18 years of age and not being able to leave the state. California State University at Los Angeles and Northridge accepted her last minute application with open arms. While attending school, she discovered she was pregnant and decided to put her role as a mother first. After carrying her second child she moved to TN for a new start with her sons and received her PTCB national certification in July 2010 after 3 1/2 years of being a licensed Pharmacy technician. It was while working in a pharmacy she met Michael Antonio of Payne Publishing, Inc., who encouraged her to write a book. She took his opinion to heart and wrote her debut novel "Kismet". Raynesha currently lives in TN with her, “Roq” and six children.
Professionally: Raynesha Pittman is the CEO, Founder and an author at Conglomerate Ink, an Urban Literature publishing company established November 2010 to help authors expose and share their talents of storytelling while developing discipline in their craft. In May 2011 Raynesha was offered the opportunity to help promote literacy nationwide by childhood friend, author and now publisher Terry L. Wroten by joining the West Coast Authors Movement also known as W-CAM where Raynesha not only fills the position of an author on the team but is also over website design and management and acts as W-CAM's Southern liaison due to her living in the South. Her greatest literary achievement came in January 2014 when she was signed to Write2Eat Concepts publications under the legendary K'wan Foye. From there possibilities became endless. Raynesha currently has two books in stores under Kensington/Urban Books, another due to release in March 2017 under Kensington/ Urban Renaissance and Penguin/Random House and one title in stores under her own publishing company. She says, “…this is only the beginning.”
Accomplishments: Raynesha was nominated in the Hip Hop of the Ville awards for best Indie author of the year in January 2012 and was also nominated in the Prodigy Publishing Group's Second Annual Urban Literary Awards for most likely to succeed debut author of the year in February 2012. In 2015 Raynesha was nominated for Journalist of the year in the Southern Entertainment Awards.
This was such a quick read. I enjoyed the story but didn't really like the main character, but I think that was the point. This book is about a hard edged chick named Savannah that is hell bent on doing whatever and whoever she wants whenever she wants. She's determined to get revenge on her hometown "frenemies" and said revenge leads to detrimental consequences.
This was a good read. It has everything a good story requires to include suspense and intrigue. I also feel there were some very original plot twists. I will be looking for this new author's next novel. I actually got this as a free download from smashwords. thanks for the promo.
Growing up hooping on the court Savannah James exchanges the ball to work in a corporate office and she's moving up fast. Savannah holds no no punches and always seem to get what she wanted being from a man or a woman. She's a woman that's in control of her destiny or so she thought until she meets Dre (Andre Burns) after a week of raw sex unexpected things and Savannah is back jumping into different men beds, She feels no shame or pitty for the next person no matter who she hurts. I read teasers this book is jaw dropping slap your mama good. Despite the editing issues I was still able read through it like they weren't there I can't wait for part II. Big Ups to Raynesha for a job well done.
" Kismet" was my first read by Author Raynesha Pittman. It is the story of Savannah, or Na-Na as some know her as. Haunted by the memories of those who've wronged her in the past, she vows revenge. Along the way, she meets the ever so charming, Dre, and things unexpectedly begin to heat up! Kismet was a great read! I've had this book on my kindle for quite some time but overlooked it . My mouth was literally open as I read this book. Revenge, drama, lies, and sex all wrapped into one. Can't wait to read part 2. There were a few errors but not enough to take away from the book or storyline.
I am not giving this book any stars. I won this book so I felt that I had to read it (and because I'm addicted to reading and I have to finish books once I start them). I had a hard time imagining that this woman got where she was in her company with her "extracurricular" activities, and the way she spoke. I wouldn't even rate this book for the sex (since that's what it was all about) because it was very tasteless, and poorly worded.
I really and truely enjoyed this one...It was very interesting, exciting, and on the basis of real life!!! It kept me on my toes with suspense as to what was gonna happen next and the next thing I knew I had finished the entire book.
For Savannah James the world is her oyster. A college educated woman, she’s handsomely paid and lives her life doing what makes Savannah happy at all times. When the chance to go back to California arises, Savannah is pleased that she finally gets to go back home and show everybody that clowned her who and what she has become. No longer Na-Na, that tomboy with the jumper, Savannah has her mind set on revenge. When she starts doling out the punishment, there may be blowback. Is she ready to deal with the consequences of her actions?
KISMET by Raynesha Pittman is just okay. The story offers revenge, drama and secrets, but it also deals with very serious issues that I think the author should’ve used more care with. The author spent so much time on the revenge aspect of the story, that character development, formatting and editing obviously fell to the wayside. While KISMET has the appeal to hold your attention, the book is in terrible condition. There are missing punctuation and words, misspellings, wrong tense and incorrect word usage. Any reader that failed to mention the many grievances in this book is not doing this author any favors. In its current state, I cannot recommend.
Title: Kismet (Beyond the Bedroom Book 1) Author: Raynesha Pittman Rate: 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reviewed by: Sandra
Review:
Kismet (Beyond the Bedroom Book 1) is a good read. This is my first time reading from Mrs. Pittman. She did a good job. I'll definitely continue to reading her work. It's well written and well character.
Like:
Savannah James is successful and business woman. She has a family or friends be there for her. Dre is a good and loyal man to her.
Dislike:
Savannah James plays too much childish games. Keisha, Christina and Melinda are dumb, jealous and crazy women.
Emotional:
I'm having a emotional breakdown because what's happen to Big Ant. Ms. James needs to let it go her past.
Recommend:
You haven't read this book. This book is amazing and it's page turner. This book keeps my eyes open. Hopefully, Ms. James needs to grow up, and learn how to take care of her daughter. I can't wait to read part 2 of Kismet.
This book was 5 plus stars easy! I wish I had more stars to rate this book, because it was off the meter! Savannah and her so call friends took me on a whirlwind full of so many dramatic twists and turns. Once I picked up this book and really started reading, I was like I can't put this down until I am finished! I have to get to part 2, to see if Dre and Savannah will really make it. Will her old friends come back to get her? I also want to know how her relationship with her mom will be now that she is back in the picture? Will that be short-lived or will she become the mother she never was to Savannah and a grandmother to Sade? I just got to know. On to Part 2!!!
DRMRAB DMV chapter: March Discussion: The consensus of our meeting was that this was a great read. Savannah and her actions from beginning to end were able to spark a lot of conversation and healthy debate surrounding love, life, revenge and the pursuit of happiness. We had two out of three members who felt the need to continue on with the series as they desired to know more about Savannah and her family after a jaw dropping ending. the flow of this book was steady not rushed and very intriguing throughout. It was given a 5 star rating from each member of DRMRAB DMV chapter that read the book.
This book was something! Savannah decides to get revenge on some people from her past. It was crazy what she decided to do to pay them back but it almost costed her life. On to the next book to see what's next
3.5 STARS Let's just go ahead and get what is fast becoming the norm out of the way. This book needs editing. It isn't to bad really a lot of the errors could have been prevented by a pair of fresh eyes but still it needs to be done.
That being said I enjoyed the story. It is usually hard for me to stay entertained when a book is written in the first person for a majority of the story but Savannah keeps you on your toes.
Savannah is determined not to fall into the same lifestyle and the people in her neighborhood. She starts out being confused about her sexuality then it's like she just said ah screw it and went all in on doing whatever she wanted. She makes it out all right and she goes to school and ends up with a great job. Yet she still has that same mentality she is trying to run away from she just has money.
So if you want to be entertained this is a good book to start with and don't count anything out because Savannah brings you a bit of everything.
Talk about messy boots. Savannah is messy and stands in her mess and don't care. I appreciated the fact that she knew she wasn't fit to be a mom and did what was best for baby girl. Now with all the hell she caused getting revenge, her mom is back and I'm sure it's about to be more drama and a bunch of hell. Karma is coming , it has to
The book had a lot of drama and who doesn't love drama, but this book had a little to much. I read enough to know that an author can go a little overboard to make drama and it can be somewhat unbelievable. This book took the super drama too far for me. I'm not sure if I will read the remainder of this series.
Omg! This is one of the best books I've ever read and I've read tons!!! I love the way all the characters all come together! I love how Savannah was going to do her no matter what! & I also love Dre and his thug appeal! 5 stars!
This book had me not wanting to put it down. Savanna never really know it but she was just like her mother. The things she did for revenge was a little over the top. But she did get a second change to live the right way.
I feel like Savannah had a messed up and childish reason to want revenge on things that happened as a teenager. Yes those things hurt us and can scar us for life....but really....revenge like that???
First I would like to give Raynesha a shout out. Girl you know you are special. Lol. I love Savannah with her crazy self. Where did you get her from? I really love me some Dre. He loved him some Savannah. Y'all need to one click this book. It is excellent.
I really wanted to like this book but it was all over the place. For me it didn't flow smoothly and the plot was really far fetched, just wasn't believable or warranted.
It was definitely different from a lot of books that I read before. There was a lot of reflecting on the past that basically took up space but once they got past that point it was really good.
This storyline was everything. Kismet had me at the the first sentence. I took my time reading this book. I can't wait to discuss this book with Raynesha
