Recommended is a low fat, high fiber, low sodium plant-based diet that not only works best to overcome insulin resistance but also helps to protect against heart disease, promote a healthy body weight, and achieve and maintain good blood sugar control. Complete with over 50 recipes, meal menus, a basic shopping list and a new food pyramid designated for people with diabetes, readers are given all the tools they need for a successful transition to a new dietary lifestyle. User-friendly advice on how to improve exercise, sleep, sex and self-care addresses all of the essentials for living well including the importance of emotional well- being. In cases where diet and exercise are not enough, information on alternative therapies and supplements are explored as well as conventional therapies.

All bow down before the latest god, veganism. It cures diabetes, it improves your sex life according to the authors. The menus are grouped under the title "recipes for defeating diabetes". All backed up by science, same as the Atkins, Southbeach, Grapefruit, peanut butter etc etc etc. Rather than a book on health and diabetes, it's just another diet book.

My Mom is a diabetic. I read this for her. I wanted to know about all types. She is not a type 2 diabetic but it still was very helpful.
