Very readable book full of interesting info. The impact of car travel, immigration etc. are well covered, as is the distinctly American style of dinning. I've already ordered a book the author mentioned, and look forward to reading it as well.

Slightly dated with being printed in 1991 (many of the places and people mentioned in the present tense are closed or dead), but I couldn't come up with any major innovations in the last quarter century that would require an updated version either.
