In this delightful, rhythmic sequel to One Odd Day, the young boy awakens to find that it is another strange day―now everything is even, and his mother has two heads! This time, a school field trip to the zoo is dealt with in an odd, but even-handed manner. And, like its predecessor, children will spend hours looking for all the hidden objects in the incredible art. Square it all off with more “number fun” in the “For Creative Minds” section.
After having One Odd Day, the same boy wakes up the next morning thinking everything is finally back to normal. Only everything is now even instead of odd.
Another weird one. I guess I can't call it odd this time. But it certainly is even! lol
The mom with two heads was really weird to me. But then I remember that pair of conjoined twins who were actually born like that and I feel awful for thinking that.
Anyways, this one is along the same lines as One Odd Day, but instead of everything being in groupings of off numbers, they are in groupings of even numbers.
Still a rather strange read. But cool illustrations and I like the rhyming still. It's a fun way to review these. Might seem kind of weird, but kids love weird stuff. So yeah. lol

This book is great to teach children about even numbers. Even though some of the things in the book are a little odd it is still a good read. i love the illustrations in the book because they are soo realistic and the colors are the the objects that's suppose to be that color. Overall, this book is great to read to children.
Learning about even numbers in your classroom? My Even Day will make that lesson EVEN more fun! This book is about a boy who sees everything in even numbers. His mom has two heads, two Kangaroos took his class on a tour of the zoo, and the Lions spread out their six wings. The book is silly and full of things that could not happen in our reality, but it sure gets the imagination flowing. Throughout the book the author counts forwards and backwards by two up to ten. It is a great introductory book for learning about what even numbers are and how to count by twos up to ten. In the back of the book there are great activities to do using their new found knowledge of twos!
According to my kids this "was funny and weird and weird things happen." We enjoyed the illustrations and the text was rhymey and cutesy. It did a fairly good job showing different kinds of evens without being a "textbook math book".
We viewed this online and they've watched it several times since. We enjoyed the other book about odds, but the fractions one was not up to par.
I personally would give this 3 or 4 stars, but my kids insisted it get 5.
Grade Level(s): K-3 * Students can learn number patterns (i.e. even, odd numbers). * Can be used to teach students grouping (Instead of counting 1-2-3, we can count by 2's, 5's, 10's, so forth and so on.) * Allow students to practice number patterns by creating their own number patterns, sharing them with a partner, and having their partner figure out their pattern. * Create a number pattern of a decent length on a dry erase board, and have students figure out the rule(s) to the number pattern.
The little boy in this book wakes up to a world of even numbers. It is a great book to teach even numbers to children, because it has interesting examples that students can relate to. This makes it a good hook for a math lesson on even numbers. An idea would be to get students to find things that are in even numbers around them just like the boy in the book did.
My Even Day makes learning about even numbers even more fun! This book is about a boy who sees everything in even numbers. Throughout the book the author counts forwards and backwards by two up to ten. This book would be great for introducing even numbers to students as well as learning how to count by 2's up to ten.
This book is wonderful to read when teaching students about even and odd numbers. This book is a sequel to the book One odd day. This book talks about how everything is made up of even numbers now. This book is excellent for a review of even numbers, showing what they look like in everyday life as well as it highlights on what makes an even number an even number.
A fun sequel to My Odd Day, this book has all the charm and silliness we came to expect from the first story. It's an interesting way to teach about the concept of even numbers. Our girls enjoyed watching this book read aloud on the "Tumblebooks" online audiobook site (tumblebooks.com).
Follow up to My Odd Day, continues the story of a boy who wakes to a world where everything occurs in even numbers, including a 2-headed mom! This story takes the reader to a fantastic zoo with strangely combined animals.
A nice book to incorporate even numbers during the lesson. Students can right down all the even numbers they hear or just keep track of the things they count. The back of the book even has some great ideas for you to use when teaching a lesson.
