About the author

Wesley Frank Craven received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Duke University and his Ph.D. from Cornell University, where he studied under Wallace Notestein. He was appointed to the faculty of New York University in 1928, where he taught for 22 years, except for a three-year period (1943-46) when he was on leave to serve as chief of the Operational History Branch of the USAAF. In 1950 he accepted a position at Princeton University, where he taught until his retirement in 1973.

Necessary information about the finding of Virginia's Jamestown colony from 1607 until the dissolving of the company in 1624, when it became a royal colony. Discusses the problems involved in the organizing and development of the colony, which was almost lost after 4 years.

Good targeted, focused, purposeful read. The scope of this book is hust that of the title. Primary sources are mentioned but not reproduced and virtually no proper citations are given. But a nice primer tease.
