An anthology of three erotic stories about hustlers (male prostitutes). There are three stories: "Wayne in Spain" by William Maltese, "That Voodoo" by Ally Blue and "Dark Side of the Moon" by Laura Baumbach.

I did not like the first story. Maltese has a reputation for writing great gay erotic novels; this isn't one of them. This came off like the rambling diary of a prepubescent boy who wants to talk dirty about sex - there is very little actual dialog. And it's also one of those stories where the language/writing gets in the way of the tale. Parentheses and italicized text were WAY overused and distracting. I actually cringed when I read the line "reflexively flexed," and one entire paragraph is an exercise in how many different raunchy ways to say "he was masturbating." I'm still uncertain if this was meant to be humorous or not. Worse, I didn't find the story erotic at all. There is no coherent sex scene that isn't interrupted by the character's erratic thoughts. 1 Star. Thankfully, the other two stories more than made up for it.

Ally Blue's story was a shocking delight that is unlike any of her other writing. She usually offers simple, but touching, gay romances with explicit sex to spice it up. Happily every afters are a must. This story veers completely off that path, with excellent results. A man living in the Caribbean picks up a male hustler, dressed as a girl. But, he is much more than he seems and will give the man more than a night of hot sex. His days will be filled with lust and love, though they are far fewer than he knows. Fantastic story, with a great twist that still somehow retains the touching quality of romance. 5 Stars.

The final story is a paranormal romance between a vampire and a werewolf with Baumbach's trademark seering hot sex. Harley is a hustler; becoming a vampire didn't change that. But when he becomes mentally damaged after being shot in the head, the vampire community decides he must die. On the run, he is taken in by the sexiest man he's ever met. Matt has been waiting for Harley, he only has to convince Harley of it - and protect him from assassins. This story was so good, and the characters so interesting, I wish the author had expanded it into a full novel! (Please let there at least be a sequel). 5 Stars. This story also appears in the anthology "Blood Desires."

You can't absolutely lose this anthology. Three tales about hustlers, but not your common hustlers...

Wayne in Spain by William Maltese is the story of the journey of Wayne on the discovery of sex. Born in a wealthy and noble half american half spanish family, Wayne first discovers sex all alone in his bedroom. He has no one to talk with in the isolated castle in the Spanish country. And he is instructed to the joy of masturbation from a unknow and unnamed spanish straight guy. When Wayne goes to college he is approached by a rich but ugly fifty years old professor who assures him he will not forget his mastery in bed if he will give him a chance to prove it. Wyane is young and unskilled and finds in Alec, the professor, a Master in every sense.

That Voodo by Ally Blue tells us about Doug, a lonely rich amercian who lives in the Jamaican beach. He sometimes searches companionship with the young hustlers, and one day he finds Antoine, an half american half jamaican boy. But Antoine is not what he seems and with him Doug will find his ultimate travel to pleasure.

Dark Side of the Moon by Laura Baumbach is the story of Harley, a sick vampire running away from the Eliminators, vampires hunt vampire marked for stermination. He travels toward north, searching the longest night and he finds Matt, a strong man who satiates his hunger and wants to make him his mate. Harley is a spitfire, weak on body but strong on wit; he wants to live and this desire drews Matt, and Matt's sense of protectiveness.

In William Maltese and Laura Baumbach's tales I can clearly identify their hands. Maltese's joy of life, express through a joyful and very physical sex, and Baumbach's sense of caring, phisically represented in a strong alpha male. Ally Blue instead surprise me... her usual angsty tales here drift to a tale with a underlying sadness. All the three tales are well plotted and beautiful: an absolutely keeper anthology!

This review is only for Laura Baumbach's "Dark Side of the Moon": 4.5 stars!

I will say it again that I love it when Laura Baumbach writes about vampires. Her vampires are always so loveable, so adorable, so different than other vampire characters I have read. In this story, Laura writes about Hayley, a vampire who is sick and weaken after being shot in the head. Marked as defective, Hayley needs to run away from Eliminators who are sent to kill him. He travels to deep Canada, where with a kindness of a trucker, finds himself in a small town. Then, he hooks up with this gorgeous guy, have a great sex with him, only to find out afterwards that not only that Matt is the deputy on the town, he is also a Lycan! Vampires and Lycans don't mix, right? Right. Except that Matt has decided that Hayley is his mate and well, werewolves protect their own.

I love this story so very much, definitely one of my favorites from Laura. She fleshes out Hayley as vulnerable even if he seems arrogant. But the way Matt strips out his defenses is just lovely. I also love the description of Canada, as Hayley travel there.

Even for a novella, this one is gives me a total satisfaction.
