Cute Yukon - historical romance book! I enjoyed the stories, the characters and the setting. Loved the murder - mystery aspect included as well. A fun, quick read. Looking forward to starting "Klondike Fever" sometime today :D

It wasn't as interesting as The Surgeon, but I still liked it. There was too much of a tendency towards the typical romance novel exposition at times, but it was pretty easily skimmed over. Bonus points for doing a decent enough murder mystery subplot so it wasn't all romance related. And, naturally, for Luke the Mountie. *g*

[Harlequin Historical]

I just love Kate's Mounties. The characters feel so real to me. It is as if I am sitting in the room with them, listening to them tell me the story of how they met and fell in love. Of course the storytelling is the best. You will find yourself riveted to the pages and there is no better reading joy than that.

I found this in a secondhand store. Its well written and has alot of suspense in it. It has some neat little facts in it. I really like Genevieve Summerville. She shows a hidden strength and works hard to make things work. I loved the hero Luke Hunter. He had a depth that Kate brought to life in the story. There was two mysteries going on plus a romance going on. She did a excellent job of blending the two. In the time period she was dealing with things were different. She brought that out by the way she had things done. With the way Luke made sure people knew that Genevieve was his choice. Its a great book and worth reading. I will be trying to find more of her books. For there was some neat facts. Like the fact that lily of the valley can be used as poison. J

so i first read this book about ten years ago as a 7th grader. it was my stumbling foray into the world that is romance novels. the first time i read it, my young, impressionable self truly believed that it was a masterpiece to behold.

yikes, i know.

so when i came across it again, i remembered how much i liked it, so i purchased a copy and set out to read it again.

needless to say, now being 22 and having read dozens of romance novels, i didn't enjoy it nearly as much as my 12 year old self did. in fact, i didn't even finish it.

i am not saying that this is a terrible book, or that it has bad characters, or a poor plot. it just simply wasn't my cup of tea. some people like it just fine, and that's great. but i'm just going to file this under "leave a fond memory be, and don't try to relive it".

I bought this book because I was excited for a book about a Mountie. Unfortunately, this one was too stupid. The hero and heroine have a proxy wedding where the heroine is actually marrying the hero's best friend. But the judge fills out the paperwork wrong and then dies, leaving them to sort it out themselves. This could have been excellent. Instead it goes all Perils of Pauline with both characters acting like children in the first 10%. I couldn't keep reading it. Too bad because the premise, the setting and the characters all seemed interesting. The execution just wasn't ever going to get there.

This is not one of Bridges' better books. The H/h were both wishy washy on what they wanted and for half of the book the hero was with someone else. I never really felt invested or interested in the outcome of the story. DNF.
