I love the book because I wrote it with Bill. Unfortunately, I am NOT the Phil Rosenthal who worked on Everybody Loves Raymond. I have worked on some other shows in less important functions but not "...Raymond". I do get mixed up with that Phil sometimes, but I'm a different guy.
A lot of scholarship has gone into the Story of the Alamo since "Roll Call..." and some of the facts have changed since, but it's still a solid work based on the facts at hand at the time from the resources we had. It has an interesting comparison of the Alamo garrison to a modern day U.S. Army Infantry Battalion, based on my understanding as a vet.
Bill has since published quite a few more books on the subject and his research is impeccable. He is an excellent historian. I also published one more work, again back in the 80s, called "Alamo Soldiers-An Armchair Historian's Guide To The Defenders of the Alamo". Again, it was fine for its time but some facts have changed. It's still a decent read.
... by Phil Rosenthal and Bill Groneman. It has been a while since I've read this. It was interesting, historically. This may have been the first book on the story of the fall of the Alamo that got me to understanding the actual scene and events as they really were.
