Love Finds You in Folly Beach, South Carolina
First impressions, thank goodness, really can't be trusted! When marine biologist Holly Leonard agrees to help Parker Brant write a book on giant sea turtles, she expects a charming and charismatic charter boat captain--not the strait-laced, all-business dud who greets her. For his part, Parker is surprised to find that Dr. Leonard is not the matronly grandmother he expected but a blue-eyed beauty who's lively, fun-- and a total klutz. Unfortunately, the harder Holly tries to shed her "Holly Folly" nickname, the clumsier she becomes. Holly's has breezed into Parker's well-ordered world like a hurricane--but will he welcome the disruption?

I bought this book based on the cover and because it is set is SC. This is a great book. When I bought it, I didn't know it was a Christian novel. It was a pleasant surprise! It's nice to find a good love story that isn't trashy. The characters in the story are interesting and have distinct personalities. The story line is great. I just love this book, period! My mom is reading it now =]

I have added Folly Beach, SC to my list of vacation spots.

Nice love story with family secrets but I doubt that the author has ever been to Folly Beach South Carolina.

Really good, easy reading. I love a book with a happy ending that doesn't make me a nervous wreck before I get to the end.

Holly’s has breezed into Parker’s well-ordered world like a hurricane—but will he welcome the disruption?'
REVIEW: This book is filled with good humor, some pathos and heartache, and sweet romance. I loved wacky, zany, clutzy Holly and the fact that she learned to appreciate who she was and her family. Parker represented so many soldiers who have fought and suffered in modern day wars and still carry both internal and external scars. They were such opposites but such a good match as their strengths filled in each other's weaknesses. Good story line and easy read. I have read several of Loree Lough's LFY books and enjoyed each of them.
FAVORITE QUOTES: " 'Patience is earned through testing, by trial and tribulation," Pastor Clemens had teased the congregants, 'so it makes more sense to pray for endurance.' "
"I'd think that believing only in things that can be validated and verified would be a very cold and lonely way to live. It's comforting to know that God's love is all around us."

This book was extremely slow moving! I read it on the heels of reading From Ashes to Honor by the author, in order to compare it to that book and see if it was just me having a bad time with that particular book book. However, this was not the case.
The "falling in love" was practically non-existant, in fact, it seemed like "ooh, getting to know you" then BAM! they're in love with one another and dithering about not being good enough for the other person. They also seemed a bit "unequally yoked", since Parker was not a devout Christian, nor had he changed by the end of the book. Deception ran rampant in this book, and while they eventually came clean, it didn't seem to be a very Christian attitude. Holly was the most religious of the bunch, and while she seemed very natural at it, the fact that there was no other Christian fellowship in the book made it very abnormal.
After the disaster that I've had with both of the author's books I've read, I think it is safe to say that I don't enjoy her work, and will plan to avoid in the future.

Holly Leonard is not your ordinary doctor. In fact, she is not your ordinary Marine Biologist either. Holly is energetic, clumsy, and warm spirited. Holly embarks on her journey to Folly Beach, South Carolina to help Parker Brant with his book for the summer.
Parker, ex-military, just wants to get his book finished. He pictures Holly being this grandmother looking type of doctor. Imagine his surprise when he realizes that she is the complete opposite. At first sight, he is mesmerized by her. He can't help imagine how this summer will turn out. Is love in the air? To find out read: Love Finds You in Folly Beach, South Carolina.
I enjoyed my short visit in South Carolina. I thought this book was both fast paced at the beginning and slow paced at the end. I enjoyed the journey that Holly and Parker embarked on together. I enjoyed getting to know their characters as well as Hank and Maude.
I was a little disappointed with the ending. I thought there could have been more to it.
I did enjoy the description and the fact that I could imagine myself in the story.
I rate this book 4/5

Just finished Loree Lough's "Love finds you in Folly Beach, South Carolina! Loree never disappoints........She has a way of drawing her readers in from the very beginning. Her characters are so well written that you feel as if you can "reach out and touch them"!
I love the character "Holly" because she is a real person and has the ability to laugh at herself . We all need that ability because everyday life can get so serious. She also sees the good in everyone and tries to make the world a better place for the people she loves.
Parker is a good person but he has a "little" trouble trusting others. He has always felt like his mother was keeping a huge secret from him, but he still loves and respects her because she is his mother. Even though he loves and respects her, there is still "something" there between them.
To find out why Holly laughs at herself and what that "something" is between Parker and his mother, you are going to have to read the book! Happy Reading!!

I can't say anything bad about this book. It was well-written. It had well-rounded characters. The plot was well-developed. Everything you'd expect from a proficient, award winning author.
That being said, it was formulaic. Nothing to make it stand out from other books in the same genre. Maybe I'm just burnt out on romance right now and shouldn't have picked it to read in the first place.
For the record, I'm sure fans of Christian Romance will love this book. It has everything one could want. A tormented hero. A spunky heroine. Interesting secondary characters. Inner turmoil, secrets and revelations. Just because it didn't thrill me doesn't mean it won't become one of your favorite books.

Loved the setting and summertime vibe in this book. Holly was such a lovable heroine, and once I got past Parker's initial surliness, I liked him too. A fun, heartwarming and satisfying read!

I loved Holly. Parker was okay. Story was cute. I laughed a lot. Fun read.
Read
April 5, 2022As someone who lived in the Charleston area for 6½ years, I tried to fall head-over-heels for this book.
But it was too slow for my liking. :( It also seemed to lack focus in many areas.
Overall, it was a good book. I simply didn't find it spectacular.
The faith content was odd as well. What I'm about to say may or may not be considered a spoiler, so I'll put a spoiler warning just in case. Lol.
I felt like the main two characters who are attracted to each other were unequally yoked. They also fell for each SO quickly! It wasn't necessarily unrealistic, but the way they were thinking about kissing right upon meeting each other... It wasn't entirely realistic either. It weirded me out a bit.
Content Warnings:
• Woman soaks in a bath.
• "Your lose, pal, 'cause she's a looker."
• Mention of mother nature.
• Uses of holy moly, holy mackerel, etc.
• A man enjoys the view of a woman "filling out a pair of khaki shorts."
• Multiple mentions of booze and alcoholic beverages.
• Multiple kisses and embraces, but none were super detailed.
• The main characters think about kissing and embracing a lot.

I enjoyed this book for the most part, though the narrative felt 'clunky' in parts (a few things mentioned that seemed important to the story line, only to never be mentioned again . . . the timeline jumping forward without smoothness, etc.). I also really wish we'd seen more of the reason Holly and Parker came together . . . we hear almost nothing of the lighthouse and only slightly more about the turtles.
I did really enjoy both Holly and Parker, though, and thought their relationship was sweet. I liked how Holly was such a force of kindness to everyone she came in contact with, and how Parker took difficult things and used them to not only become a better person, but learned what was truly important to him.

ahhh this story had the potential to be so so good but missed the mark...there was next to nothing in regards to folly beach, it was just a cheesy unrealistic romance, the girl was a scientist but acted like an immature high schooler and the guy had years of baggage that all got resolved in a couple of months....I would of loved some in-depth telling about the turtles and the nature of them and some words giving me a visual of the area...but none of that was there...oh well

I found this book to be disappointing. The concept of the story should have worked, but the lack of a solid plot or any real character development left the entire story flat and lacking. I've read other books by this author that were good, but this one missed the mark.

Okay read. Not much depth for the characters. I'm not really sure why they loved each other, other than "he's hot" and "she's sweet and gorgeous" maybe I missed something? (I don't think I did.) It was an okay beach read.

Holly and Parker
A very enjoyable story. I like this series, although they are all written by different authors.

Quick read with no suspense or anxiety. Needed this one after a few heavy topic books. The plot was predictable and the character thoughts were just... cheesy.

I couldn't put it down. The character's were real and lovable. I wanted to jump in the story and join them. It was well worth the time to read. I recommend it. I would read it again.

A good Christian love story about an older couple that have nothing in common but find love anyway. Enjoyable.

Great book, very hallmark-y and a quick read. A couple things I wasn’t expecting, great ending.

Love Finds You In Folly Beach, South Carolina***** by Loree Lough
Marine biologist Dr. Hollace (Holly) Leonard had planned to be in Folly Beach, South Carolina hours ago, but she got lost-again and had a flat tire. Tired after the long drive, she finally arrives at the Bed and Breakfast she will be staying at for the summer while she helps Mr. Brant write his book on giant sea turtles. However, he is not what she expected when they meet. He is a former soldier, has a hard time trusting others and is so serious. Maybe she can get him to lighten-up some while they work together.
Parker Brant, owns and operates a charter service and is active with protecting the sea turtles and lighthouses. He is writing a book on the giant sea turtles, but since he doesn't have any talent writing he hires a marine biologist, Dr. Hollace Leonard, to assist him with his book. She will stay in Folly Beach for the summer so they can get it completed as soon as possible. Expecting Dr. Leonard to be the grandmotherly-type, he is very surprised when she arrives. Not only is she not the grandmotherly-type, she is young, very cute and clumsy.
There are secrets that are revealed with much heartache, many challenges the characters face and must come to grips from their past, surprises, romance, faith and forgiveness to make this a great story.
~~I received a copy of this book from the author (no monetary gain were exchanged), this is my honest review~~

The book was okay. It was not the best book that i have ever read but it also was not the worst. The book seems to go on and on almost about nothing. The story did not get overly interesting until about half way through. It seemed to be going through the motions and it would try to insert some big story feature only to lose it until six chapters later. The romance of the story goes so smoothly I do not think I’ve been it go so smooth in any other book.
If you are looking for a book that is a easy going smooth relaxed light romance this might be your book.

I was doing just fine with this book right up until I realized how down on themselves the two main characters are.
He thinks she could never love him because he's a gimp of a former soldier - and because of something he finds out about his past that the only one it bothered was him. She thinks he could never love her because she's a 'blond ditz'.
After a while, I started going 'yeah, you're perfect for eachother - but not in a good way'. Not to mention that all the twists and secrets were making a mountain out of a molehill.
Well, I'm going back to reading historical romance.

This was an enjoyable book that is very different from other romance novels I read. Holly, the main character, is very spiritual and brings prayer and her beliefs in God to the story. It was so nice to see this in a novel! Parker, the other main character, had his doubts about God, but he believed in Holly and her spirituality, so love found a way for the two. It was a sweet romance with a great setting in Folly Beach, SC. If you are looking for steamy romance, this book is not for you.
