I just arrived at the Alpha King's castle, but I have no idea why I'm here. I think it's to pay off my family's debt, but when I'm taken to a fancy bedroom, I have the feeling I'm not going to be his maid....
Isla
I'm a nobody from a distant pack. My family owes a lot for medical expenses for my brother. I'll do what I can to help them, but when I find out I've been sold to Alpha King Maddox as his breeder, I'm not sure I can do that.
The king is cold and standoffish, and rumor has it he killed his first wife. But he's also sexy and alluring. My mind might be telling me no, but my body wants him in every way possible.
How am I going to survive as the Alpha King's breeder when I've never even been with a man before? Will he kill again?
Maddox
Ever since my Luna Queen died, I've sworn to never love again. I didn't go looking for a breeder, but I only have a year until I must produce an heir or lose my throne. This beautiful girl, Isla, showed up on my doorstep just in time. Is it fate? Is she my second chance mate? No, I don't want one of those.
All I need is a kid.
But the more time I spend with Isla, the more I want not just any old breeder--I want her.
Over one million reads on Radish--one click this steamy wolf shifter romance right now!
Good story...everything else is a joke. Some scenes are insane "haha" and some are insane..."what?" There's a prison guard in here that cries just by being asked questions, and apparently loves the word boobies.
This first book describes an interesting shifter world with an alpha king. His mate has died and he needs an heir. A devious sub alpha basically sells him a young girl from his pack to breed an heir. There isn't much shifting in this story, it could be any royal kingdom. There is romance, evil enemies, mean wanna be other woman, found heritage and possibly love. The story continues in the next book. Unfortunately this edition is flawed by many misused words. It's as if someone muttered into a speech to type program. Cleaned up editorially, it makes an entertaining read.
Great summertime read. Fast paced, good plot, characters you can like and hate. Would love to read the series but only book one is a Kindle Unlimited. Definitely recommend but there is a cliffhanger.
you’re telling me that in this fantasy werewolf world in which indentured servitude is completely normal & people are getting thrown into dungeons for disobeying the king, they have UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE??? shit, this doesn’t sound like too bad of a place to be!
anyways… this is not top tier literature. it’s basically a soap opera (about werewolves) in book form. very wattpad. but that is exactly what i wanted & i was not disappointed!!
tw: kidnapping, physical assault, murder + mentions of sexual violence, incest, & death of a spouse
It's easier to read through an app on the mobile phone when travelling or commuting, especially when the book i'm reading is hard cover and/or heavy and/or bulky. I even started to appreciate a type of story (werewolf etc) which I tend to avoid in films. This series "The Alpha King's breeder" is about the most interesting story to be found in the app's portfolio, as far as I am concerned.
The characters are parodies of themselves. The Alpha King. The innocent virgin. The evil, greedy alphas. The conniving and evil girl after the Alpha King. It’s quite ridiculous and like bad reality TV, you could get sucked in.
Here’s some gripes I had with the crappiness of this story:
In the beginning Maddox is thinking about how he hasn’t slept with very many women since his wife died. Then several chapters later, he’s thinking about how Isla isn’t forgettable compared to the countless women he’s been with. “Countless” 🙄
Isla is a 20yo virgin idiot. She’s told she’s going to be the alpha king’s breeder. And she’s like, “…..what does that mean?” Then she’s thinking she knows how babies are made because she has so many younger brothers. Then some chapters later, idiot Isla is all “can I get pregnant from Maddox’ tongue in me!?!?” Seriously!? This girl is an idiot. The super innocent virgin trope is just cringe.
And what’s with the mind link seldomly being used. It’s an after thought to the author, like she forgot she made it so these guys have the ability. Maddox wants a sandwich, instead of letting a maid know via mind link he tells his Beta to go get him one or to find someone else to go get him one. It’s stupid.
And all the betrayal. This Alpha King sucks at being an alpha and a king if he can’t get loyal employees. Such trashy crap.
And what is with the Samoan sounding names for this blond haired blue eyed girl…🙄 Atuafafine- seriously!?
I wish I had known there was a book 2. I might have spared myself the crap TV book 1.
5 minute later update: There’s 4 books about Maddox and Isla. Oh hell no! Especially when in book 3 they’re still not in a secure relationship. The trash is going to get trashier. Hard pass on the rest for me!
Bought by the Alpha is the first book in the Alpha King’s Breeder series. The author does a great job with world-building, character development, and plot development. The story is an age-gap, forbidden love, forced proximity, fated mates, mystery, steamy romance. The castle in the Kingdom of Crescent Falls is the home of Alpha King Maddox, who needs an heir before his thirtieth birthday in eleven months, or he could be replaced as the Alpha King. Determined to never marry again, Maddox hires innocent Isla Moon to be a breeder to get an heir. Both MCs have challenges they need to overcome.
The story has many twists, and I like that the MCs pasts are brought up and explored. Overall, I enjoyed the story and the main and supporting characters. Isla is a mystery. She thought she was a poor girl from the Willow Pack, but she starts having old memories surface of another home far away. This mystery is what helps lead to the next book in the series. I look forward to the next book.
This is very much a book version of a soap opera. There’s an over the top bad person, the MFC is a virginal and timid and used to being treated badly, the MMC is a king, and the two never get to have a real conversation. Many over the top things happen and then it ends, abruptly. You’ll need to read the next book (and the next) to get a resolution. I think I saw at least three more books in the series. This book didn’t feel finished, it’s more like the pay to read books from apps designed to string you along and rip you off. The writing is very juvenile. It’s not bad, per se, just heavy handed. Like a soap opera or AI. OR like AI wrote a soap opera as a book. It may appeal to some readers who want an easy read or aren’t bothered by the writing style.
Enjoying the story so far. Based on the title you think you know what this book is about but thankfully, its not anything close to your standard breeder story. This book is loaded with mysteries and suspenseful happenings. I like the main characters, my only complaints keeping it from 5 stars are the Alpha King seems a bit weak as a leader. He doesnt act on things soon enough or at all and his afraid of other Alphas. There's not a lot of shifting going on for a shifter story so far, the MFC is a little too nieve for my liking but thats improving. I'm not thrilled by the number of books its going to take to get the entire story out.
The good things are its interesting, original & the mystery around the MFC's family background is very well done.
Upon completing this book, I am highly disappointed. In all honesty, I'm being nice giving it 3 stars. Despite the fact that the plot holds promise, and the character development was somewhat satisfying, other aspects of the book fell short of my expectations. The numerous grammatical errors (15) throughout the text were irritating. I don’t understand how Amazon could allow something on their platform so poorly edited. However, since storyline shows promise. I will give it one more chance and read the second book in the series. It's truly a shame that the author didn't take more care in ensuring that the book was thoroughly edited before publication.
So I liked it but I didn’t love it. The writing style was very engaging, leaving you hanging just enough to progress chapters while alternating perspectives. The plot, however enjoyable, had many predictable moments. I felt a lot of anticlimactic “I bet it’s xyz… yup, thought so” as opposed to an excited “yes, I was right!”. Some of what I believe was intended as subtle foreshadowing was a bit obvious. That said, I did enjoy the progression, the development of the relationship, and (again) the chapter to chapter progression. I’ll probably grab another of this authors books to check out.
I was looking for a quick read to decide what to read next… I didn’t expect to get so interested that I can’t not continue immediately?! So here I am buying book 2…. I see its a whole series but short enough and only the first 4 is about this couple if I see it right. So now im on the hook and get entangled in the story of a gal becoming the Alpha King’s breeder. Its logh spice but a good political adventure intriguing kidnapping and revolution and enough complications that Im keen to continue immediately… So let me just do that…see my review on B2 soon;)
Isla has been given to the Alpha King as payment for a debt. Maddox realises that she will do well as a breeder. But everything changes and he can't take thinking about her even though he has sworn never to take another Luna. When Isla is kidnapped he realises that he can't live without but everything falls apart. And now she has left the castle and he gas no idea how to fix it. Will Isla find the answers that she is looking for? Will the past be revealed? A good read. Good storyline
This book is riviting , in the way it takes one situation and melds it into one or more other ones. Isla is a hardworking girl, who goes to her Alpha, to help her find a way to make money so she can pay off her debts to said Alpha. The Alpha then takes her to Alpha King Maddox to sell Isla to him as a Breeder. There are a lot of twists and turns that happen to them from there on. I would recommend, if you like shifter stories, this would be a good one to purchase.
Enticing story. Interesting characters; unpredictable plot developments... Really well written... This book was really good... But I hate that it's a cliffhanger - on Kindle Unlimited - only to read it and discover the rest of the series are not. It's not expensive; but they get expensive when there's like 6-7 in the series and I read one in under two days. So, I'll never get to know how it ends 😢
Well, it’s good. I did enjoy it somehow. It’s just a bit dragging the story. It’s so slow that I’m in book 2 and Isla is still not pregnant, i mean, come on she’s a breeder geez🙄! And I’ve checked that Isla and Maddox’s story is up to 4 books. It is intriguing and somehow i end up finishing each chapter. It’s full of misunderstanding and miscommunication. It’s super slow burn. I think 2 books would have been enough. Then again, I’m just a reader.
This is the first story I've read by this author and I recommend it highly 😃. A young woman who has been working so hard for her family, gets dragged into a weird situation 😯. She's doesn't understand what she's supposed to be, but finds out that she's not who she thought 🤔. Thanks so much Bella, I truly enjoyed this first story and look forward to reading more 🤓.
It is a good story. I am not into 🔥🔥🔥 so I skim. People who love the spice, it is in there. There is a solid story and action that has this book going for it. It is rare for me to give liss than 4 or 5 stars, as I think it takes guts to put a book out there.
Like I said though, it is a story that continues into the next book.
Solid 3 stars. Nothing original, but written well enough. Should have wrapped up everything and left it as a single book instead of trying to draw out the plot to write a series. As a standalone it’s ok, but nothing about this says worthy of a series to me. I won’t be reading the rest of the series.
Honestly this book isn’t what I expected it to me. I definitely loved it was a bit slow at the start but I was definitely hooked. I feel like towards the end of the book a lot of information was thrown at us at once. I’m unsure if I would read the next book but was a nice easy read. I enjoyed reading it.
I love the stories in the shifter books but do they have to be so graphic and so bent on about half the book being about the sex. It takes away from the story and makes it seem more about sex than love. I love sex as much as most people, but I would rather it was not about the sex as much as about love and dedication to someone.
The title of this book is more scandalous than the plot. 84% in and crawling through. I’ve come back to this book because of my reader ocd but I feel like it’s torture to try and finish. The heroine has yet to shift. The Male MC has shifted a few times in his POV. No steam so far. The writing is elementary as well. Sorry author, maybe next series…
