Makten över klimatet

Rate this book
- Bonniers

Solving the Climate Challenge allows to comprehend the complexity of climate change through simplicity: simple language, simple examples with great efficacy (and no oversimplifications!).
The author, Christian Azar, combines an organic synthesis of data regarding energy systems from established studies and from his own research with open questions and his life experiences, from Brazil to Africa. The tone is never accusatory or impartial, as the final purpose is to instead provoke a wake-up call for citizens, scientists and politicians to joint their forces to solve this global issue.
The reader will be able to know more about energy systems (e.g., different energy carriers and their climate impact), impacts caused by agriculture, transports and industrial systems on climate, policy making, inter-generational and intra-generational equity, among others.
Recommended read for those who are newbie to this topic and seek for a clear understanding of it. Even though some figures might have changed since 2009, in 2018 this read is still topical as it asks questions to solve a yet not-solved problem.

This is a fine choice for anyone looking for a readable summary about climate research. Azar summarises the field of research in a way that I think should be attractive for readers with varying backgrounds (academic and otherwise). For those looking for more meat, there are piles and piles of references for further reading. Although readable, the book deserved a better translation from Swedish. In spite of this, buy it, read it and let's solve this climate crisis!
