The Betrayed Profession: Lawyering at the End of the Twentieth Century.

Rate this book
A revealing dissection of the legal establishment that identifies many reasons for the public's low opinion of lawyers. As the author puts it, "Lawyers inherited a noble profession and made it a business." This discussion is balanced by suggestions for how the legal community can help turn opinion and reality around. This is one of the very best books that I have ever read about the legal profession. Law has always been both a profession and a business. However, Linowitz points out that over the years law has become much less a profession and much more a business. Since the book's publication in 1994, things have only gotten worse!
