本书是选堂诗词评注丛书之一。 《总辔集》为饶宗颐在日本期间讲学之余所创作的纪行诗歌总集，共集录诗歌104首（其中诗作100首，译诗4首）。在日本京都讲课之余，饶老历览山川，放浪江海，南涉九州，北至网走，临橿原之都，诵万叶之诗，寻觅古迹，感悟虾夷文化风俗，得诗百首，合为此集。亦弥补了先人对九州、北海道地区吟咏未详之憾。
