Saskia is British by birth, but because of her parent's nomadic tendencies she grew up traveling the globe--an only child with a serious book habit. She dreamed of being a writer since the age of 12 and finally began writing seriously in the late 1990s.

Saskia's short stories have now been published in over one hundred international anthologies and magazines including Cosmo, and Bust. In the noughties Saskia started working on longer projects and since then her novels have been published by Penguin and Harlequin as well as other publishing houses. To her absolute delight two of her novels won Passionate Plume awards and her work has twice been nominated for an Romantic Times Magazine Reviewers' Choice Award. Her Witches of Scotland series was widely translated and became a Scandinavian bestseller. In 2015 she became a USA TODAY bestselling author. It's been an amazing journey! Saskia is now a full time author and she has many more stories to tell.

Saskia lives in the north of England, on the beautiful, windswept landscape of the Yorkshire moors, with her real life hero, Mark. Mark supports her work through all its ups and downs, and manages to keep her sane and grounded when fiction threatens to take over.

Good but not quite what I was expecting

*** 3 1/2 Stars ***

I have read other books by Saskia Walker and was intrigued when this book was available for me to read and review. It is one of her older books but the book description piqued my interest when I read it. The book is nicely written but I can definitely see how the author has grown and changed in her writing and storytelling styles. I found the characters of Amy and Sebastian to be likeable and they did have a lot of sizzling smexy between them. The story-line was good but not quite as developed as I had expected. Overall this was a good read, just not as good as her more recent books, at least for me.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Seems Amy is the master at finding herself in funny and embarrassing situations. The first one being after she agrees to go on a blind date with a contact of hers, Roger. Seems fate had other plans and most definitely wanted her to be put into the path of Sebastian instead. Not that he minded one bit.

It all starts with Amy wanting to do an investigation piece – a way to prove herself as a real journalist – on a missing Ghost Hunter show presenter. Gossip puts possible occult reasons at play but Amy wants to find the truth for a scoop of her own. Working at her fathers company has its drawbacks as she feels she has to work twice as hard to be seen as competent. She doesn’t want any favoritism, just wants to prove herself a good journalist. Hopefully this big break will give her that, well if she cracks it that is. Seems her father has a few stipulations for her though. The first one being whom she has to answer to she can deal with but the second one not so much. Seems he thinks she needs a minder/bodyguard on this case. She doesn’t want a minder or to be slowed down because of one but reluctantly agrees figuring it can’ be too bad. Well that’s what she was thinking until he walked through the door and she realized she’d meet him the night before in a bit of an embarrassing way. Seems she was getting flirty with a contact of hers over the phone and when he asked to meet her for some no-strings fun she (along with her boss giving big thumbs up) agrees to go along for her first blind date. I think you can imagine what might happen next. Starts with a comical fall into a lap, goes straight into the whole banter as if she’s known him a while and finishes off by saying she can’t wait for some no strings fun. When realizes she’s with the wrong guy though, mainly because she spots the correct one further down the bar, she just makes a run for it. New shoes got her into trouble and she’s hoping they won’t stop her escape. Seems Sebastian isn’t so keen to let her disappear without a trace though and goes up to the guy in question to subtly ask about whom he’s waiting for. Gets a pleasant surprise the next day when he finds out she’s the daughter of the guy who hired his firm for a bodyguard duty. Not something he usually does anymore as he tends to stick to the investigation side of his firm but fate again seems to have put them in each other’s paths so he’s not going to knock it.

Embarrassment aside its soon a fun road trip ahead with possible ghostly tales along the way. Seems Amy is a bit of a scaredy-cat and drama queen rolled into one. When she feels betrayed she just goes full speed ahead into attack mode but soon starts to realize that’s not the best way to act. The mystery of Quentin takes more of a back seat throughout as the story revolves more on the connection slowly building between Amy and Sebastian and the situations they find themselves in. The sexual tension is seen a mile off and its not long before the no strings deal is back on the table. Fan me down how hot were they together! More of a steamy romance read than mystery solving. Even though that’s still in play its really just a means to an end to get the pair of them somewhere alone together. Comical and spicy read throughout so all good fun though. One thing you learn straight off is that she doesn’t like being lied to or feeling like she’s been played. Something Sebastian should really take note of since he hides the fact he’s not really just a bodyguard. Can their ‘no strings fun’ turn into something more? Only time will tell but its looking good for now.

Spoiler-free review

Adults only! - Graphic sexual content and bad language.

This story brings to mind the full on passion/ obsession of a teenage relationship except the characters are older and more experienced.

The main plot is circles around the erotica that the two main characters tantilize the reader with and their developing romance, but the sub-plot I thought was also good - a journalist looking for some professional excitement or a big break (as it were).

I think the author did a great job of getting the reader to relate personally to these characters and that's what I like most in any book.

The story progressed and ended just the way it should have in my opinion :)
I really enjoyed this one!

5 stars and comes highly recommended.

Sebastian and Amy meet by accident at a bar where she is supposed to meet a blind date. He does not get her name, but is enthralled with her. The next day he meets a new client, as a bodyguard, even though he is mainly a PI. She is a journalist for the paper her father runs and she will be on assignment with that bodyguard....OOPS. The heat is on while they search for clues to the missing TV host. The characters and storyline were great. The romance was right up front. The mystery seemed to disappear for the most part, but made a great come-back at the end. Loved the ending.

Amy hits on Sebastian in a bar the night before he begins his job. They set out on finding the story but they can not bypass the sizzling attraction they have between them. This book has great characters and an enjoyable storyline with drama, humor, and sizzling passion.

An interesting premise caught my eye and I chose to read this book based on it. I liked the characters who were great together. I thought the author crafted a story that was fun to read. His character made things interesting for her and the storyline. I wasn’t totally into her character initially but she grew on me by the end.

British Rom with a Little Com

Sebastian is hired as a bodyguard for Amy while she investigates a missing person. Through misperceptions and some fake ghosts, they find love. This one is a bit dated now (no one uses fax machines hardly anymore), but the sweet nature of the relationship still hold up. A fun romp of the British countryside, and a happy ending in the end.

Mild and sweet.
Sebastian is just what Amy needs. He may be rather vanilla but doesn't mess around when he sees a woman he wants. Their instant mutual attraction explodes as professionalism is thrown out the window.

I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind, and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading, I could not put it down until I read the last page.

To be fair I really enjoy Saskia Walker's writing. I recommend reading the book as it was enjoyable, other than some of the issues I had with the heroine. The chemistry between the hero and heroine was hot, the plot was good, but those dang heroine issues just got in the way. Now on to my rant that isn't just about this book, but some of the romance novels I've read lately.

Not sure what's going on lately, but the reason this book got 3 stars from me is mainly due to the heroine. Which seems to normally be the reason a book gets a low rating from me anymore. I just want a normal woman to be the heroine, but lately they seem to either be drama queens or cold-hearted bitches. This one falls into the drama queen side. The reason the book got 3 stars from me instead of 2 was because at least in this book the heroine admitted to herself later that day that she had been a drama queen. But then the author went and had her faint at what she perceived to be a shooting, but what was really a murder mystery weekend shooting. I mean really, what is this, the Victorian era? She's supposed to be a competent newspaper reporter and she faints at a shooting? Were these academy award winners acting at the murder mystery weekend? To be fair, the rest of the book was pretty good. I would give it a 4 if the heroine hadn't bugged me. I'm really hoping that the next book I read has a heroine that isn't behaving in ways that make me roll my eyes and sigh in annoyance.

This book was a great read! I wanted to read something short and this is my kind of short! It had a fun story line and the beginning of this story is down right HAlarious! You have Amy who is this reporter for a paper and she goes on a blind date and ends up hitting on the wrong guy! Talk about embarrassing! Quickly following that she gets a lead on this story she wants to cover but her boss aka her dad will only allow her to pursue the story with a bodyguard...cough cough...this bodyguard happens to be the handsome gentleman that she came on to the night before. So great another embarrassing moment for Amy. Not only does she see this guy again but now he's her bodyguard! Sebastian aka the bodyguard hasn't been able to get the mystery woman who came on to him at a bar out of his mind. She abruptly left him and he doesn't know her name. Sebastian's a PI but has decided to take on a bodyguard job since none of the guys at his office are able too. He gets a surprise when it is the woman from the night before...As soon as he sees her he plans to woo her...But Amy is so embarrassed and is really focused on her job she tries to keep away, but since they're going to be together 24/7 can she remain focused?
Again this is a great story and has some great steamy scenes!! I really enjoyed the story and loved Sebastian's character!

This was my first non-paranormal read and it was fabulous! I got this as a free read on Amazon and I'm so glad I did. Amy is a journalist who is looking for something different, something exciting. She finds it when a famous TV personality goes missing. When she gets the ok for the story she had no idea that she would need a bodyguard, Sebastian. Not only does she get her story but she also gets something else along the way. This was a really cute story, I would definitely recommend it.

I don't know if I what's going on with this book. But there are large portions of the story missing in the kindle version I have. You're reading a quote and flip the page to read the rest. And you find yourself reading a completely different sentence. It very frustrating, to say the least.

I really had high hopes for this book, too high. It started out good, but by the end i was just praying for it too end. The "mystery" in the book held no appeal to me, and needed something more.
