'Did you hear the news? President Ford okayed Operation Babylift. Instead of taking out 6 babies, you'll help us take home 300!' 'With that exciting announcement, all the questions about why two Midwestern homemakers would fly into a war zone were answered. Their mission at last was clear. I was born on a Marine Corps base during this time as my Marine dad was in charge of the Vietnamese camps & helping them find new homes in the US. It brought to light times in our history that are important. Each person makes a difference during times of challenge! I am thankful for people like LeAnn & Carol who went to a war zone to help rescue so many!

This true story of the women who assisted with Baby Lift during the Vietnam War paints a fascinating picture of war-torn Saigon and the desperate attempt to get orphans out of the country. This book succeeds in pulling your heartstrings and illustrating the emotional chaos of this period. It's a quick, easy read and will be especially meaningful to adoptive parents. For a more in-depth historical look at this event, I would highly recommend Cherie Clark's "After Sorrow Comes Joy."

This is the story of Operation Babylift, told by a nurse who witnessed the horrors of the fall of Saigon firsthand. LeAnn Thieman is a riveting storyteller who was on one of those planes out of Vietnam, carrying dozens of orphans to another life away from war. I recommend it highly to anyone who wishes to learn of this recent history from someone who lived it, and I guarantee you won't be able to put this book down!
