(Buddy read with Ok thxbyeeeeee)

We’re here at the end! I was surprised the characters made it. I was surprised I made it. The only ones I weren’t surprised had made it were the zombies because they were everywhere anyway and my buddy reader because I’ve never seen him read anything with so much determination.

What is there to say about this ending apart from that it seemed to have thrown away what little characterisation the writer had previously given Selena. The pairing of her and Clint was absurd and much too convenient. Her willingness to give up her entire values and depart with him in such a way was so nonsensical it was like a zombie had possessed her body when she’d gone off on her detour to reveal her true reason for being in London. And it was definitely not a good enough reason to warrant almost dying in the UK zombie wasteland again.

The plot here essentially stole from the 28 Weeks Later but left out crucial scenes so it made less sense. It felt much too rushed, but it had the most potential out of all the previous volumes’ plots, which just goes to show that when the writer can rely on other people’s ideas he can deliver something that isn’t as mediocre as this series in its entirety.

Ugh, so now the comic dovetails into the terrible film sequel 28 Weeks Later.

It's really bad. Really, really bad. Terrible art, terrible plotting, terrible characterisation, terrible dialogue.

OF COURSE Selena falls in love Pclaulnt, the ridiculously bad journalist (who has supposedly won a Pulitzer!!! lol), because that's one cliche that wasn't mined yet.

"Thank you for making life worth living again."

HA HA oh god

So we find out that Selena had to kill her own husband because he got bitten, and she wants to bury him with all the terrible jewelry he has given her.. THAT'S why she went on this trip? TWO months after she barely got out of the place? That is not NEARLY a strong enough incentive to do any of this!

(We also get an origin story for her machete, which: no. Not everything has to have an origin story.)

And then they go to Paris and she leaves her machete there, sticking out of the ground in a park, with lots of people around, because that's something you'd do with a large, dangerous weapon like that.

Why is everything so overwritten? Why does everyone keep saying subtext out loud?

HA HA This series is SO bad!!

(HA HA with Kahahadi!!!)

A fine ending indeed. Americans always showing up in another country trying to tell folks what to do. Idiots. I love my country and have served. Idiots.

Does anyone remember the airplane scene in World War Z??? Just sayin'....

Filling the gap between movies, 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, Michael Alan Nelson tells a riveting story of Selena, survivor from the movie and Clive, US journalist bent on writing a story of what happened on the British Isle. Their journey from coast of Scotland to London is filled with danger, not only infected, but people. Story arc with the officer on a path of vengeance is a bit too much. Could've gone without it, but Nelson makes up with some pretty hard hitting scenes and emotional journey in this last volume. Art varies from since it was drawn by multiple artists, but they should've given Leonardo Manco more, if not all series to draw as his one episode had best art. His dark style fits the story.

Personaggi credibili e niente supereroismi.
Divertente e gustoso fino alla fine.

For a story that happens *after* they got to safety, this was surprisingly tense. In fact it got *really* anxiety-inducing near the end, which is a testimony to the talent of the plotting. Glad I stuck it out til the end.

This is kind of a review for the last 3 volumes since I read them pretty close together and without writing reviews in between but I think overall this became a lot more enjoyable when I stopped trying to compare it to the movie at every turn. Like yeah there are a lot of plot points that are reused but it's still enjoyable to read and it does give more insight into Selena's background and character which I really like. The ending is a little bit meh but I guess even from the beginning this franchise was always a bit shaky on endings. It's a very quick series to read though so I'd recommend it if you like the movie and want to see more of Selena.

ABSOLUTE RATING: {3+/5 stars}

STANDARDIZED RATING: <3/5 stars>

I'm really glad things were able to pick back up for Homecoming. I just wish volumes 3-5 kept the suspense up to this level, which was initially established in volumes 1-2. This was a series that had its slight ups and downs, and while I initially expected more from the series (following the first volume), it turned out to be pretty good on the whole.

I'm conflicted on the ending to this series. On one hand, this final volume makes damn clear that this is the bridging story between DAYS and WEEKS. The events of WEEKS happen within the time-frame of this story. And overall, it's more close to the feel of the movies than most of the volumes in this series, which is nice.

On the other hand... the "fanboy" protective nature of me just does not like what happens or what isn't explained. I WISH i knew what became of Hannah and Jim, besides the one sentence lines in the previous volume. I WISH Selena was somehow able to find and reunite with them. I WISH Selena had a life with those two instead of random guy Clint who finds her in this series. There's a lot I wished happened instead of what did happen. But that's just my jaded nature when it comes to this franchise and these characters.

I suppose I'm happy Selena gets her happy ending. I suppose I'm happy to see infection breakthrough to the rest of mainland England. I suppose I'm happy I now know what happens to Selena and what happened in the events between 28 DAYS LATER AND 28 WEEKS LATER.

But I suppose I'd be more happy if this was a series of Selena, Jim and Hannah... And I suppose I'd wish this series was more of what I wanted once 28 YEARS LATER comes out...

I absolutely loved the ending.
Some people may find it a little cheesy, perhaps even a little predictable, but I enjoyed it.

This was one heck of a fun series, and I plan to keep re-reading the series as the years pass; something I do only with a handful of books.

It was that much fun and had that much action and character experience trapped within the 6 volumes.

It's definitely not a comic that is a literary work of art, but it's a fun read.
It stays true to the nature of 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.

The Art is incredible, too!

I really enjoyed this series. It was good to follow Selena around and see how her story continues. Good job, Michael. Now, I have to watch both movies, again. I really wish there was a third to this story. I always hoped there would be a "28 Months Later" to round out the trilogy that never was. At least, I have these books to fill that space.

Conclusione soddisfacente e che segue coerentemente tutta la narrazione.

Una lettura d'intrattenimento con studiati momenti di suspance e un buon equilibrio fra azione e dialoghi, senza mai tralasciare l'interiorità dei personaggi.

Reprints 28 Days Later #21-24 (March 2011-June 2011). Selina and Clint have reached “civilization”. Quarantined in London’s Green Zone, Selina and Clint question if they are safe or if they are really the prisoners. Selina sets out to say goodbye to her past, and Clint tries to get his story to editors in America…but a danger is lurking on the streets of London and the Infected might live again!

Written by Michael Alan Nelson, 28 Days Later 6: Homecoming is the final volume in the series which bridges the gap between the film 28 Days Later (2002) and the sequel 28 Weeks Later (2007). Following 28 Days Later 5: Ghost Town, the collection features art by Pablo Preppino on 28 Days Later #21, and Alejandro Aragon completing the series. The issues were also collected in the 28 Days Later Omnibus.

I really enjoyed 28 Days Later when the movie was released in 2007. It was edgy and inventive, and zombies were just “on the rise” then. As the years have passed, zombies became second nature again with shows like The Walking Dead and the failure of 28 Weeks Later didn’t help impress. This series however was a fun connection because it kept the best parts of 28 Days Later and sculpted it into a story to show what 28 Weeks Later was missing.

The series really is a bookend series. The action in the volume relates to events in 28 Weeks Later. The Green Zone prison that Clint and Selina are trapped in is the same prison that the characters are trying to escape in the sequel. The book also smartly ends with the exact moment where 28 Weeks Later ends…the Infected have spread to France with the crash of the military helicopter. Fortunately, the characters smartly didn’t end on a down note by allowing Selina and Clint to escape “happily ever after”.

The story also did a nice job developing Selina’s “pre-Infected” life as a pharmacist. It is a great contrast to show how her happy life was destroyed by the Infected and this volume gives Selina some hope. She is able to put her past behind her and move on with Clint…and since they share a past of horror they can work together.

The art for the comic is good. It is tough to recreate real characters in comic book form and hold true to the original look. The story feels both in the art and composition like it could be storyboards for a 28 Days Later film and that is a great way to work for this type of comic.

28 Days Later was a decent comic. It was great, but it also was much more highly developed than a lot of tie-in comics. I like that the characters got a happy ending, but it does leave you wondering what happened after the infection spread again. There has been talk of a 28 Months Later film and it wouldn’t shock me if it happened. I’m sure if it does another 28 Days Later comic might surface…I just hope Selina gets to keep her peace.

This is the 6th and final graphic novel in the series, containing episodes 21 to 24. This series has definitely got better towards the end, with these last episodes being the best by a lost way in my opinion. There mix between action and building up the story is just right and the way the graphic novel's story ties in with the '28 Days Later' film plot is great. The best bit of the whole series to me is that we find out the fates of all three survivors from the '28 Days Later' film, and we are given a lot of background to Selena's story which was amazing for a fan of the films.

In terms of the series as a whole, all of it was enjoyable, but the last two books of the six made it worth buying them all in my opinion. There are a couple of minor things that don't ring true for a story set in the UK (like the road signs being in kilometres) but they don't spoil anything and the tie-in with the two films is very well handled. The atmosphere is tense all the way through and the graphic novels 'feel' like they belong in the same universe as the films. Great work.

And so ends the tie in between two 28 xx Later films. This 6 volume arc certainly kept my attention, and I was compelled to put aside all other readings to motor through every volumes on a slow Saturday afternoon. This final volume, Homecoming, runs parallel to the occurrences in 28 Weeks Later and it works really well. The survivors from the previous volumes contend with the confusion and uncertainty that engulfs the characters in the film, but the reader (who has seen the movie) knows exactly what is happening and gets to enjoy the build up to the inevitable explosion of mayhem. The resolution for the remaining characters is handled well, and there's a general sense of satisfaction as the final page is turned.

Fans of the films are strongly recommended to read this bridging story that could well have worked (minus the filler) as a sequel in its own right.

Hadn't watched the movie. Came looking for some horror here. Though the plot has a nice twist moving more towards human relationships, it was not handled well on this part too. And there was no horror. At All. Except a few times when it came close. But I wonder why they would make a comic series (If not for generating revenue) out of a movie and make it this lame. There was nothing in here that The Walking Dead had not covered fantastically already. Well Except the Mannequin. Loved that part. The art work was good but use of stills from the movie as a frame in the page? That is not good for the artist who is really doing good otherwise.

Like the previous book, once I started reading this final installment of the series I was unable to put it down. This book takes place during the same time period as the movie 28 Weeks Later and the repatriation of London with several events from the movie being rehashed here from the viewpoint of Clint and Selena.

I was quite content with the ending of this book and the ending of this great series. I'd also like to think that a TV adaptation of this story could work quite well, so someone should get right on that!

graphic novel.
While I normally run away from anything in the zombie genre, this universe intrigued me and I have actually sat through both of the films. This series a great tie-in between the two with likable characters and an interesting perspective on the events from the second film.

A much too predictable ending to a decent series, there could have been much more interesting plot-lines to follow. This final installment was the weakest one of the series.
