"Come away from the window," his brother told him, but Michael Darling was still certain he could fly.
A year before, he had been taken away to Neverland by a boy called Peter Pan, and for the rest of his life he would be haunted by the certainty that there was a world beyond early 20th Century England, a world that he would fit and belong in. Through the troubled romances of school days and the horrors of World War I and into the twilight years of the Lost Generation, he would cling to the tattered memories of his youth, to a time when he was wild and strange, a time that he was desperate to find his way back to.
As a boy, he had jumped from the window and shattered himself. As a man, would he do even more to finally get to the realm of his dreams?
Jason Vanhee was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and still calls it home. He writes in several genres and styles, including contemporary fiction, historical fiction, young adult, fantasy and horror. He once drank at every bar in the city of Seattle in a year in order to get out more often. He has worked around the world on Semester at Sea, which still amazes him.
I have read this book many times and with each new read love it more and more. Truly a great work of fiction that can be read over and over. I highly recommend it.
I found this book to be charming and leisurely to read in all of the right ways. The ending bothering me just a little, but I suppose more can always be revealed in a sequel.
