The life story of one of football's biggest stars covers his personal life, what it was like to grow up on the playing field and before the cameras, and bringing the San Francisco 49ers to their first-ever world championship
As a Niners faithful Joe Montana will always be the greatest to me. This book is a short and easy and very interesting read. Although it ends half way through his career with the 49ers and even before his third ring, so I'm left with the feeling of being cut off with only half the story. But it's great getting Joe Cool's view on things.
"Joe Cool" was - and still is - my favorite football player of all time. This book, although written with the help of Bob Raissman, just sounds like he is talking directly to the reader. Which is just so like his public persona! Relaxed, humble, easygoing. But reading about how driven he was from childhood on, to work the hardest and be the best, is very inspirational reading.
The only thing I wish is that there was a sequel, that covered the later years.
I think the story of Joe Montana was truly fascinating. He fought through it all to get where he is today. Not even starting college quaterback until SR year and even making it to the big time. He became arguably the best quaterback of all time and a legend
