Artist Pierre-Joseph Redouté crafted two of the most famed botanical books ever made--and his paintings alone allow us to see the remarkable plants that once flourished under the care of Josephine Bonaparte. Now most of these exotic specimens have disappeared from Malmaison, her secret retreat and the setting for one of history's most legendary love stories.
