The murder of a wealthy L.A. woman finds homicide detective Virgil Sykes on the case, with generous help from his lover, Assistant D.A. Nikki Hill, as they deal with the prime suspect, the dissolute son of one of the city's leading financiers, and the woman's young son, a computer game genius. Reprint.
Christopher Allen Darden is an American lawyer, writer, lecturer and practicing attorney. He was a 15-year veteran of the Los Angeles County District Attorney, where he was assigned to the prosecution of O. J. Simpson. Darden gained fame during the O. J. Simpson murder case when he asked Simpson to try on the once-blood-soaked gloves.
Well written. The kid was a problem for me almost from the start because he was so unkid-like. He seemed totally unfazed by his mother's murder. The shrink's diagnosis was another huge clue, and when Nikki was writing her summation, worried about the missing champagne glass and how the pistol had arrived at the scene, the kid was the only possibility.

We meet A.D.A.,Nikki Hill, and her boyfriend, Detective Virgil Sykes, as they seek the killer of a single mom. The victim's ten year old son is the only witness. Pretty good story put pushes the credibility envelope.
I have to say Christopher Darden makes a better writer than he does a lawyer. He was one of the attorney's from the prosecutor's office in the O.J. Simpson debacle.
