The paperback edition of the best-selling book in which Martha Stewart invites readers to join in her Christmas celebrations as she decorates her home, wraps special gifts, and prepares luscious meals for her friends and family throughout the holidays. Full-color phontographs.
Martha Helen Stewart is an American retail businesswoman, writer, and television personality. As the founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, focusing on home and hospitality, she gained success through a variety of business ventures, encompassing publishing, broadcasting, merchandising and e-commerce. She has written numerous bestselling books, was the publisher of Martha Stewart Living magazine and hosted two syndicated television programs: Martha Stewart Living, which ran from 1993 to 2004, and The Martha Stewart Show, which ran from 2005 to 2012. In 2004, Stewart was convicted of felony charges related to the ImClone stock trading case; she served five months in federal prison for fraud and was released in March 2005. There was speculation that the incident would effectively end her media empire, but in 2005 Stewart began a comeback campaign and her company returned to profitability in 2006. Stewart rejoined the board of directors of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in 2011 and became chairwoman of her namesake company again in 2012. The company was acquired by Sequential Brands in 2015. Sequential Brands Group agreed in April 2019 to sell Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, including the Emeril brand, to Marquee Brands for $175 million with benchmarked additional payments.
The Christmas bible. This book came out in 1989, and has not aged at all. Gorgeously warm photography, beautiful holiday inspo. I love seeing candid shots of her elaborate Christmas parties. This book really lives up to Martha's perfectionism -- everything about it is beautiful. I made the jewel cookies from this book and they were a hit at my xmas party! I wish I had the time to make a gingerbread mansion, fresh pine wreaths and canned jams for everyone. Alas, I don't have the privilege of being Martha Stewart. But that's why we love her, because she is the expert we aspire to emulate. I will reference this book each holiday season for the rest of my life.
I had forgotten about this book, it emerged when I moved this summer. The first time I read this years ago I had never heard of Martha, and my thought upon finishing it was that this woman was clearly insane. The gingerbread house with the gold leaf roof alone should have been enough to quietly put her away. My opinion has not changed since then, Martha is truly nuts, but there is no denying this is a fascinating book.
Christmas!! The definitive Christmas decorating book. The most dogeared book in my collection. Thank you to my former mother in law for gifting me with this book one year. If it were possible to devour a book, this one would be eaten up!
My edition has a completely different cover (with a much younger Martha) and I so love its retro-ness. I think I appreciate the old skool Martha-ness even more than the projects and recipes. It just feels Christma-y. What can I say? Love it.
1980s/90s Christmas entertaining literature at its finest. Totally ridiculous and I honestly can't stand Martha Stewart, which makes it all that much more fun.
Good solid ideas on how to create a home grown Christmas. So good that I bought it in 1991, gave it away a few years later, and then bought it again. I'll keep this one.
This is another book I read in years past and it was the first I'd heard of Martha Stewart. I was amazed by all the crafting in this book, along with the recipes - great book and I still look through it from time to time.
