Great American Wreaths

Rate this book
Both a how-to craft book and a decorating guide, Wreaths offers 51 projects for delightful wreaths--complete with step-by-step instructions--honoring the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Designed for use throughout the year, these wreaths are made from materials inspired by their locations: i.e. an oak leaf and acorn wreath as a homage to the nation's capital; cranberries for Massachusetts; and golden wheat to symbolize Oklahoma. Martha Helen Stewart is an American retail businesswoman, writer, and television personality. As the founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, focusing on home and hospitality, she gained success through a variety of business ventures, encompassing publishing, broadcasting, merchandising and e-commerce. She has written numerous bestselling books, was the publisher of Martha Stewart Living magazine and hosted two syndicated television programs: Martha Stewart Living, which ran from 1993 to 2004, and The Martha Stewart Show, which ran from 2005 to 2012.
In 2004, Stewart was convicted of felony charges related to the ImClone stock trading case; she served five months in federal prison for fraud and was released in March 2005. There was speculation that the incident would effectively end her media empire, but in 2005 Stewart began a comeback campaign and her company returned to profitability in 2006. Stewart rejoined the board of directors of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in 2011 and became chairwoman of her namesake company again in 2012. The company was acquired by Sequential Brands in 2015. Sequential Brands Group agreed in April 2019 to sell Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, including the Emeril brand, to Marquee Brands for $175 million with benchmarked additional payments.

There were some original and beautiful wreaths in this book. If I would try any, it would be the Ohio Buckeye wreath. Some of the fruit wreaths look like they would be too heavy to mount on the door but otherwise I got some real inspiration.

Great American Wreaths gives a wreath project for each state using a plant indigenous to that state or territory (U.S. Territories is given a page as well.)

This book covers several types of wreaths, swags, garlands and wire forms. The information given is short and concise also giving historical background for the choice of plant used.

I found this book to be informative and the pictures were beautiful but the instructions are not for a beginner even when told to refer to the one picture given within the directions.

If you want to know how to make a variety of beautiful wreaths, then this is the book for you. What I like about Martha Stewart's books is that they're written clearly and with a lot of quality pictures to show the process, not just the finished products.

My kids gave this to me for Mother's day a few years back. I guess that they thought it might help me. I do like to look at the pictures in the book. Since we don't have magnolia leaves and wheat sheaves (sp?)a plenty here in ABQ I just make do with the grapevine wreath that I have.

The pictures are beautiful and the reason I plan to keep the book. I have made wreaths all my life and the instructions are not good.
