This is a pretty good guide to guitar maintenance. It's also geared towards someone who has not done serious maintenance in the past. However, when it gets into the electronics part of the lessons, it gets a little more complicated than I was expecting. The net result was that it lost me from time to time and, even after reading the book, I wouldn't try to change out a pick on a Les Paul, especially the bridge pickup. I'm not totally sure it's the author's fault.
