"If Tolkien's world evolved into the 20th century ..."
1965:17-year-old Jon Scarby reluctantly betrays his boyfriend.
At some point during the summer holidays Davy Ross vanishes. Despite interrogation by detectives and interviews with psychiatrists Jon cannot remember anything about it. Davy is listed as missing and is eventually presumed dead. An air of suspicion hangs over Jon from that day on.
2020: Jon’s memories begin to resurface with visions of another world. Now 72, he finds a carefully placed icon from his youth. Only one person could possibly have left it, but can it really be Davy after all these years?
Jon must return to a seemingly impossible land where subtle magic stands in for science. The only way his ghosts can be laid to rest is to relive the weeks that were erased from his teenage years.
