Left behind by his childhood friend, Aiben ekes out his existence as a cybermancer acolyte and part-time starship mechanic on a backwater world. He leads an uncertain life until the Zenzani Protectorate invades his home and destroys everything he has ever known. Aiben soon learns that the molecule-sized machines, which augment his mind and body, have a centuries-old plan for him involving nanotechnology, genetic manipulation, and hyperspatial thought. Now, along with his companions, an old soldier, and a sentient mechanoid, he journeys to a world of fabricated prophecies where he must navigate the treacheries of war and espionage to find an ancient weapon and a long-forgotten people that will bring his past crashing into his future and seal his destiny forever.

Okay. I will try not to speak about any characters or anything so as to prevent any spoilers for all potential readers.
I really loved this book. It has a solid story line and keeps itself interesting with something new revealed every few pages.
This is the story of an adolescent boy named Aiben. The story starts as he is looking up to a docking platform on his home planet. We immediately learn that he is looking to see if his best friend Nairom has returned from his leaving the planet. We also learn that Aiben has many microscopic robots within his body that allows to communicate with others with these machines and also he can connect to certain pieces of machinery.
Overall this is an amazing book (one of my personal favorites.) It has an exciting love story, an action packed adventure, stories of betrayal and a long lost alien race back from the dead.
My only recommendation for the author to change this book is to include a small dictionary in the back in the alien language to let readers easily understand what is being said. (much like the Eragon series.)
