Did not age well. Rather insensitive. I have never been a fan of the Savage Worlds system, so that hurts it as well, but the racial stereotyping is the harsh part.
Alright, so technically I did NOT finish reading it. Some chapters are only supposed to be read by players with permission of the Marshal (the game master) and since I was not playing certain types of characters those chapters are supposed to remain secrets to make the game more fun for me. Fun read, and an even more awesome time spent this past Saturday with two friends as we tried out the game. Our first combat lasted 3 rounds, and took about 2 hours to finish. BRUTAL! I hope it gets a bit easier with future battles as we get more familiar with the rules, rolls and weird stuff that happens throughout the process. :) I played two characters--a gunslinger and a blessed missionary (former saloon girl turned nun)--to try to experiment with some of the various types. FUN!
A product of its time. Not that good nowadays. Also fuck any game designer that thinks the CSA surviving would be plausible or needed for a good Restoration period horror west game.
Love the setting, love the idea of using poker chips and card in play. The actual mechanics could use some work, but this is till a great game with a lot to offer.
