They become inseperable. Anne's father however, has his own agenda and is determined that niether of the young lovers will ruin it for him.
If you like old fashioned romance then this book is for you. It was a pretty good read and I would suggest this to anyone that likes historical romances with the characters with a good personality.
I generally like historical romance, and this book was pretty good. It did lack the depth in the story line that I am used to in this genre, but for a shorter story, it is a decent read. It is set in the Nevada Territory, and the story line is interesting. The characters are interesting, and the romance is cute. Albert Stuart is the son of a well-to-do rancher. He is college educated and is feeling like he wants to leave Nevada and do more with his life. And he will after he helps an old friend of his father's, by showing the daughter of the Judge around while they are here looking into moving to the area. He did not plan to fall in love. If he can keep his brothers away from her. Anne Wallace doesn't know the real reason her father wants to move to this area of Nevada. It is just the two of them since her mother had died. She was raised in England, spending her favorite time with her grandfather. But her father doesn't care for him, so here they are. She was not expecting to fall for the man who was tasked with showing her around. Their love affair blossoms quickly, but Anne is in for a rude awakening when it comes to her father, the judge. His agenda may just ruin everything. This story has some twists and turns that will raise your pulse. It is a good story about love and adventure and greed. If you like westerns, you may like this one.
A gifted copy was given in exchange for an honest review. (Indulgence Anthology) A sweet love story between Albert and Ann. I like the relationship between Albert's brothers and their father. It is very interesting to see how Albert changes after meeting Ann, how he totally forgets about his dreams, being his only dream her and having her as his wife from then on. Although there are some editing issues that need to be cared of, it's a good reading and very enjoyable.
This book was read as part of the Indulgence Anthology. It is the love story of Albert and Anne. I have read other books from Jamie, this one was good but others have been better, this was slow at times. The story was good but seemed not fully developed and incomplete, with many typo's and words were blurred together. Possible HEA or implied cliffhanger with another book to follow. 3.5 stars
This book was decent, but not intriguing enough for me to read the sequel. I haven’t read many historical romance novels, but I think I prefer contemporary. I loved the personalities of the main characters. It was great how being a woman in a historical setting, Anne stood her ground and wouldn’t back down on her opinions. The arguments between her and Albert were so entertaining. I found that Albert’s brothers were fun to read about, as well. The family chemistry that was there made it great. I did find that at times Mr. Stewart seemed to be too involved with Anne and Albert’s relationship, like he knew every detail of what went on between them. Him being a parent, I found it to be a bit awkward. When reading romance novels, I need more steamy scenes. I’m not a wait until marriage person when it comes to books. After the wedding, there were many opportunities, but sadly, they weren’t expanded upon. Lastly, there were too many grammatical errors for my taste. Proof reading is important.
I found this to be an interesting idea for a story but not very well executed. It was difficult to force my way through the book, thank goodness it was so short.I found the characters to be flat, boring, and badly in need of a personality transplant. The dialogue was stilted and unnatural, if not downright bizarre, as if the words were emerging from robots. Actually, the term "dialogue" is not technically correct here since it was more like separate monologues, with responses coming in from somewhere in left field. H: stay away from that man, he's a bad character, h: It's all right, I often went to town alone when I lived in London. h: I wish this night could last forever, H: I'll go get your wrap. Anne was definitely a few rungs beneath the Too Dumb To Live stereotype. Just glad it's done.
Capital 'B' for BORING! It was boring and all the spelling and grammatical errors drive me nuts. Kept waiting for something to happen at the end, like a climax, and it didn't. They were all a bit too 'Little Women' to me. They were all lovey dovey, perfect in every way for me. Nothing even close to real life. I get it, it's a book, but I couldn't relate to these characters in the least.
Read as part of the Indulgence anthology Historical romance Albert is a rancher in the Nevada Territories. Anne is from England, willing to start a new life but her father has plans of his own. Is she strong enough to take charge of her own future?
