Julia Sykes is a USA Today bestselling author of edgy, emotional romance. When she's not writing, she's usually reading.
Other than reading, her obsessions include iced coffee, unicorns, charcuterie, aged Manchego cheese (or any cheese, really), and fancy dresses.
An American expat, Julia now lives in her adopted, beloved home of York, England. Most days, you can find her wandering the cobbled streets and daydreaming about her next novel.
Julia Sykes writes insanely hot stories, and the Impossible series is the perfect way to introduce yourself to her work. Each book works as a standalone novel, but there is a continuous storyline throughout that will have you desperately diving into the next book to see what happens with the characters you love.
If you enjoy dark stories, well written BDSM, great characters, and a storyline that constantly leaves you desperate for more, then the Impossible series is well worth reading. All books were four-star ratings, except for Mentor which was a three-star rating, and certainly worth reading.
Great value buying this boxed set. I had been purchasing each book individually, but grabbed this because the last book was one I had to buy yet. It was a no brainer for sure. I highly recommend you buy this set. These books are addicting. Well written, characters you come to really care about and interesting plots.
I liked the individual stories for each character. The last book about Santiago didn't have much drama. I would have liked to have seen more. But all in all really good books.
A very unique book. It took me weeks to read as it dipped in and out reading the 7 individual stories that make up this set. The only one I didn't fully enjoy was the last one. It did give me a better understanding of what the lifestyle is all about. Very well written
If you don't like BDSM, skip these. I found Impossible slow going but it was originally written as a serial so maybe that' why. And while all the books stand alone, they are all interwoven, so I finished it to set me up for the rest. 2 stars Savior - Rose and Clayton. Didn't like that Clayton had no problem sharing Rose, although Rose certainly enjoyed it. Knight - Smith and Lydia. Lydia was kidnapped and kept as a sex slave for a long time. so it's no surprise she's extremely submissive when rescued. Dom Smith, an FBI agent, takes her under his wing, literally, and helps her find herself again, while trying to resist the perfect relationship in his mind. But he knows it's wrong, so let's her go. But they get back together later after a murder and when Lydia is found by her former master again. My fave in this set. Rogue- Sharon the FBI agent and BDSM club owner Derek. Dom meets submissive who doesn't know she is a sub. She's working undercover in the club to find Lydia's old master, and agrees to learn how to be a Dominatrix by learning how sub behaves from Derek. A good exploration of how of a person discovers, is trained in D/s. Another fave. The Mentor - How the guy who taught Lydia's original master become a serial killer. Totally creeped me out, but well-written. No HEA. Master -- Chicago FBI agent Kathryn Byrd is chasing the Mentor. She's also got a new partner, Reed Miller who out in the BDSM lifestyle to help her. But when the Mentor targets her as his next slave, Reed gets awfully close and awfully bossy, not just at work but in bed, too. King - Charlotte is given to the Latin Kings by her dad, a former Irish gang member and a drug runner, as security that her brother Derek won't run the Kings out of his club but will let them deal there. Javier, FBI agent, has been undercover for a year when Charlotte lands with the Kings. He fights for her - knowing Derek is working with FBI - and to keep her safe first locks her up in his apartment then marries her. A kink-laden love comes after marriage plot. I read these all in a row, so noticed some repetition of language in certain situations, but not bad if you like some kink.
This is an exciting and very suspense filled series. The first book is full of action and begins to introduce us to the special FBI group in which all of the members are involved in the D/s lifestyle and this comes into play with the solving of some of the cases and how the officers relate to each other and their jobs. I began the series and read through Book 1 Monster without problem. There is some slight D/s action but more action than about the lifestyle. As I have progressed through the series I found myself being drawn into the action and the personalities of the characters. I reached the book titled Mentor and had to stop. My PTSD had been triggered and I needed time to deal with what had been written in the previous book and I had great concerns about going forward. On a personal note the series is so well written that I found myself finding answers to some things I had questioned about my self since my own trauma. I think the author put much thought into writing and keeping the readers in mind. Be sure that you are ready to read these books.
I got this series as it was a cheap box set and needed something to read but not a lot of cash this close to Christmas! An I'm really glad that I did! This series gets better with every book. Loved that the underlying story flowed through the books as well as getting little sip it's of characters from previous books I think Savior, Rogue and Mentor have to be my favourite out of them all for very different reasons
Savior because I loved Clayton In the first book (I was really rooting for him to get the girl
I was pleasantly surprised that these books felt like a stand alone novel. Each book told it's own story, but they were all connected in some way. The sex scenes were pretty hot. Even though they were short stories, none of them felt rushed. Great writing. I can't wait to read more by this author.
This was a great set of books. I loved how it told so many different characters stories, the differences and the similarities! I was hooked! Hours went by without me knowing, I think at one point my husband had a conversation with me! Excellent
I loved The Impossible Series by Julia Sykes. Each book in this box set is a standalone, but they tie in perfectly with each other. All of the characters were easy to fall in love with. This book had the perfect mix of romance and suspense that I love. I highly recommend this series.
It had everything I needed after coming down frown my last series by another author. Very well written, great graphics lots, and I fell for all the characters.
Wow! This series was mind blowing I'm still replaying every word I read in my head cuz it was that hott!Love the characters each one had his own unique style of BDSM!
What an amazing series! Each book ties together in one amazing story filled with suspense, drama and erotica. Each character has a strong personality and aspects of each book can easily fit into actions of today's crime families. Julia's stories are very well researched and amazingly written. Definitely a must read!!
