Introduction to the Practice of Psychanalytic Psychotherapy
A clear and thorough introduction to techniques and practice issues, as well as basic theoretical frameworks, for beginners. Psychoanalysis is not so much skill-based, as dependent upon the development of the analytic attitude, guided by principles of technique that are used in the clinical situation.
Alessandra Lemma's accessible guide has been based on her long experience of teaching trainee practitioners. It includes discussion of interventions and the possible dynamics associated with the different stages of assessment, beginnings, middle and end phases of therapy. It exposes the rationale underlying a range of interventions and discusses research evidence where relevant and available.
* Written by a well known author with plenty of practical experience
* Introductory and aimed at trainees
* Uniquely, it combines practical advice with theoretical explanation

This is the best introduction to psychoanalytic psychotherapies that I have ever read. A reference book.

This book, or similar, should be part of the syllabus of university level psychology.
While having learnt all the basics of psychoanalysis, I never got the full picture until reading this.
Well written, easy to follow, and overall great introduction to psychoanalysis that has left me wanting to read more.

A very good introduction. The book manages to go through all the basics in a pedagogical way, making it easy to read despite the large amount of important information contained in it. Alessandra Lemma is a very good teacher. For example, I have read many descriptions of "projective identification", but it wasn't until I read Lemmas description of it in this book that I felt as if I really "got it".

Great, comprehensive book for therapists and trainees to read and reread over and over again. I think it works great as a book but it can also be read in chapters as you need it in your work. It's main focus is psychoanalytic therapy but it would be a useful book for a young therapist from any school of thought because it sheds light on the process itself.

Kursbok, svår att egentligen recensera eller betygsätta. Tungrodd, men intressant!
