Eryl Davies’ short guide to mentoring answers all the most common questions people have about being a mentor. Including the biblical examples of Jesus and Paul, Davies shows how a mentoring relationship is a close, real–life relationship that can supply us with the wisdom and encouragement we need. A mentor helps to apply biblical wisdom to family and work tensions, suffering, disappointments, difficult choices, bereavement, personal development, spiritual growth. Davies also includes testimonies from a number of people who have been mentored and are mentoring others, application questions to consider at the end of each chapter, as well as a reading list to examine how other Christians have actively mentored others.
Dr Davies is Research Supervisor at WEST (Wales Evangelical School of Theology) where he was principal and lecturer from 1985 until 2006, and is an elder in the Heath Evangelical Church, Cardiff. He has written many books and papers, such as Heaven is a Far Better Place; Human Cloning; and Truth Under Attack: Volumes 1 and 2, all published by EP Books.
This is a helpful introduction and encouragement to form healthy mentoring relationships. The combination of biblical teaching and personal testimonies from a wide variety of contexts, provides a firm foundation from which to flourish.
