Huvudperson och berättare i Inger Edelfeldts nya roman Finns det liv på Mars? är Joni Johansson, ensamstående mamma till dottern Mårran. Joni är nu fyrtio plus, har en besvärlig relation till sina frånskilda föräldrar, dyrkar David Bowie och har aldrig övergivit sina drömmar om en musikkarriär. Nu jobbar hon i charken på Vivo, och har nått en punkt i livet då hon måste sluta vara evig tonåring, bli vuxen, ha realistiska förväntningar på livet och kärleken. I den andan inleder hon ett förhållande med präktige Niklas, arbetskamrat och ensamstående pappa. Men trots Jonis föresatser att få stadga i tillvaron går det naturligtvis åt pipan både med relationen och projekt bli vuxen.

Inger Edelfeldt berättar sin historia med gott humör och satirisk blick för mänskligt beteende. Det är både underhållande, roligt och träffsäkert.

About the author

Inger Edelfeldt (born 1956 in Stockholm) is a Swedish author and translator, as well as the illustrator of many books. She made her debut in 1977 with the book Duktig pojke ("Good Boy"). She has written around 20 books since then, most of which are novels, short stories, poetry books, and books for children and young people. She won the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis in 1987.

She is internationally known as a Tolkien illustrator through her paintings for the 1985 Tolkien Calendar. She has also painted the covers of several Swedish editions of J.R.R. Tolkien´s books in the seventies and eighties.

I love all of Inger Edelfeldt's books. This one did not disappoint.
I can identify with Joni, the main character, her anxiety and her bewilderedness in life. I also absolutely adore al the music references sprinkled throughout the book. The Smiths FTW.
