A taste of the forbidden...

Georgiana Talbot intends to remain a spinster in order to ensure her younger sisters debut and find husbands. But when she encounters a devilish Scot who ignites a searing fire within her, Georgiana realizes just how much she has denied herself regarding the pleasures of the flesh. Determined to learn more, she concocts a daring scheme.

A touch of the taboo...

Seducing the haute ton's premier modiste into buying linen from his mills is foremost on Blane MacLaren's mind. Until his need to bend the brash beauty to his will drives him to enter into a scandalous agreement--Georgiana will purchase his linens if he will tutor her in an array of dark delights and forbidden pleasures. Yet nothing could have prepared him for the effect his very willing student will have on him--or how far a harmless lesson in lust can go.

When fashion meets passion Georgiana will have to decide if she can give up control to experience the love and sensuality she has long denied herself.

Georgiana Talbot is the premier modiste to the ton and firmly on the shelf by her own design. She has four younger sisters that she’s determined to see married and settled. Thanks to an outdated law of primogeniture she and her female relatives are left practically destitute until Georgiana takes matters and fashion plates into her own talented hands. With help of a clever assistant and some well dressed ladies, Georgiana’s designs are all the rage. Georgiana’s plans are quickly and irrevocably thrown off course when Blane MacLaren, Lord Lockerbie, makes a proposal she’s helpless to refuse.

The romance of the Regency time period is truly unique to all other eras. The way they dressed, danced, talked and the rules…there are rules for everything. Step back in time with author Debra Glass and enjoy the sweet tension filled courtship of Georgiana and Blane. But don’t tell them they’re in a relationship, it’s just for show and they don’t even like each other…mostly.

Ms. Glass has a beautifully vivid writing style that brings the reader right into the scene whither it is on a crowded ballroom in London or the peaceful shores of Loch Dungeon. The story moves at comfortable and natural pace that will keep you engaged from the beginning to end. The dialogue is spot on for the time period including our hero’s Scottish dialect. There are a couple of funny situations that keep the story light even as you watch the tension and attraction between Georgiana and Blane grow. All this leads up to a truly satisfying conclusion to their story that will touch your heart and leave a smile on your face.

Ms. Glass has a love for history that shines through her writing. If you crave a fantastic Regency romance with a side of steamy BDSM heat, you will love Slave to Fashion. A fabulous story that easily earned a five cherry rating.

Georgiana Talbot isn’t your average London miss. She’s a renowned modiste, one wholly concerned with the success of her business and making advantageous matches for her sisters. When Blane MacLaren, Laird of Lockerbie, tries to convince Georgiana to buy the linen from his mills instead of from the man Georgiana wants her sister to wed, Georgiana scoffs. But Blane tempts Georgiana to consider his offer with the promise of fulfilling her darkest desires. For once, Georgiana wants something just for herself. And that something is Blane MacLaren.

Debra Glass is one of the premiere names in erotic historical romance as far as I’m concerned and it was with great delight that I picked up Slave to Fashion. I love that Georgiana is different from the typical Georgian era heroine – it adds spice to the tale. Also adding spice to Slave to Fashion is the dynamic between Georgiana and Blane. They don’t always like each other…at least not at first…but the sparks that fly between them are undeniably hot. Ms. Glass’s talent for writing melting sexual tension and decadent eroticism is showcased beautifully in Slave to Fashion. Though Slave to Fashion is slightly hampered by a bit of a quick wrap-up at the end, all in all it was a pleasure to read and, as always, I look forward to reading more of Ms. Glass’s work.

Slave to Fashion by Debra Glass led me on a delightful journey to the 1700’s. I’ve always wanted to be a part of the haute ton and found myself living vicariously through the heroine Georgiana Talbot. What a strong woman with a will of her own. I found it commendable that she took care of her family, taking over after the loss of a parent. Her wilfulness enchanted me. And Blane MacLaren is enough to make any woman of any time period simply melt. I found his manipulative ways genius and the grand strategy of chess begin to play out between Georgiana and Blane. I wondered whose will would prevail! Add in the secondary characters with tunnel vision, accusations, beautiful Scotland and sex so blatantly unabashed and the story makes for a must read more than once or twice.

I’ll be dreaming of highlander men with swarthy good looks and the decadent brogue that accompanies it. I can’t wait to travel back through time with another story by Debra Glass

3.5/5; 4 stars; B+

If you're looking for an erotic, light, historical romance, this book fits the bill. This is the first book I've read by this author and I liked her style and characterization. I didn't think the story had a lot of depth but it was certainly on par or better than the cazillion main stream historical romance books out there. I liked the level of eroticism in the story and the fairly delicate way the author introduced the concept of D/s without really going into it too much.
