Great on the edge of your seat ride into the past! This edition holds both the first and second books of the After Cilmeri series. I would give the first book, Footsteps In Time, only 4 stars. The characters in this series are fun and lovable. The story was great, the big fault of the book was that the flow was too quick and some of the events weren't explained enough so you were left with a few questions or wanting to know more details. The first half of the book had a time frame of 2 years. Footsteps centers around a brother and sister that you learn about who they are in the prequel that focuses on their mom. The book is set about 12 years after the prequel when both are now teenagers. The book switches viewpoints between Anna and David which helps the story and is done quite well so that you aren't confused. Since I loved the relationship between Meg and Llywelyn it was a little disheartening not to hear from their viewpoint, but I understand that Daughter of Time was more to set up the series rather then be the focal point of the series. Footsteps was cut into 2 parts due to a big event happening. Finally towards the end of the book the author became more thorough and detailed which was appreciated. Footsteps does have an ending but I understand why they have the double bundle since Footsteps ends with such a game changer. You just need to keep reading.

The main characters are David, Ieuen, and Bronwen. Following the story of David coming up as a true leader of Wales and of course involves returning to the 21st century in some fashion. That part is frustrating because you want them to be in Wales, but its part of the story line so it needs to happen. I believe the author used this problem to an advantage and it made for a great read. Every book adds good characters that work well with the book. I believe this book was more successful then Footsteps since the timeline was only a few months rather then a few years. I gave 5 stars even though Footsteps was a 4 stars to me because Prince was so good. Definitely recommend this series.

This is a great set of a self-published novels in the fantasy/time travel genre. If you enjoyed The Outlander series, this is sort of a YA version of that set in Wales. I loved the time period (reminded me of the book Here Be Dragons, which is one of my favorites), but the time travel was a nice twist to the historical component. These stories have some good characters, some nice political/religious/social commentary, and no ridiculous sex scenes (with "heaving bosoms and straining manhoods"). This is a great quick read for a little mental escape.

I enjoy GOOD time travel books, especially when the past is realistic. A good realistic time travel in the past book makes me appreciate all the things I have now, and feel blessed that I did not live in the era the book is about. I enjoyed this series very much and can't wait to read the next installment. However, it has to wait in line after Rollin's Bloodline, and McCaffery's Sky Dragons, and sheesh, there are a couple more in the queue. Too many good books out right now. LOL

The second one is even better, they are both really good! I'm onto the 3rd (or 4th depending on how you look at it) book! I love these characters and the whole idea. The writing is really well and I can't wait to see what else happens.

Good stories, but I wish they weren't told from EVERYONES first person experience. That was very distracting. But again, they were still good.

An excellent tale great characters
A really good read, some strong characters. Loved the life lessons that are crafted into the storyline, beautifully woven into the tale. Found odd bits a little difficult not sure folks for the time period would take to cars but it sure added to the mix. Will read more of this series

Don’t read back to back with Daughter Time!
These are very well written but I was on history over load by the time I finished all three books. I tend to be compulsive and when I find an author I like I’ll read all their books. I would have rated Book 1 a four and Book 2 a four if I had read them separately with a break in between but together I ODd on facts!!!!

The Welsh atmosphere was great, I felt like the author could have focused a little more on the interpersonal relationships. I agree with some of the other reviewers, I missed the whole falling in love part. I will read others by this author in hopes that she learned from the feedback.

Intriguing
I really am intrigued with this series which surprises me because of the mixture of the thirteenth century with the twenty first century. Although, I am not interested in buying fifteen more books.

This is a bundle with two books.
I just finished book 1 in the bundle and thought I would review it, although I think I will probably feel identical about book 2 as book 1, because I feel pretty much the same as I did after reading the prequel, but who knows?
In the beginning of book 1 there is an awkward introduction of the time travel premise. I felt the reaction of the Welch group was very odd and the reaction of Anna and David was also odd. Odd=not natural. I think that is what I meant before in my review of the prequel when I wrote that I gave up a lot for the time travel premise. However, I have read a lot of time travel books where I did not have to "give up anything" in order to swallow the time travel concept. So I decided as I read the same awkward "stuff" in this book as in the last that it was an awkwardness in writing that was the problem. Once one gets past the awkward "hey, we are here from the future" part of the book, it is like the story settles down and gets somewhat better.
I have never felt this way about a book before (I should say series of books since I feel the same as I did after reading the prequel). Let me explain. I scan-read, meaning I feel the writing is wordy. The primary characters are not fully developed. Well, in this book David gets a lot of attention and I like him as a character but everyone else seems to just be cardboard cutouts and I have trouble liking them enough to really care a lot about them. I think this is particularly true about the character of Anna who shows up so much in the story but is not three dimensional to me. It is also true of the reappearing mother of Anna and David who I felt pretty neutral about coming out of the prequel and that feeling has continuing into this book, and it is true of Llywelyn who I liked best in the prequel but now, reduced to a cardboard cutout of his former character, is not as interesting this go-round. However, the story line or plotline seems to just hook me and compel me to keep reading. It is like I dislike AND like the books at the same time. It is that combination I refer to when I say I do not recall feeling like this about another book/series before. I inexplicably bought the prequel AND this bundle at the same time. Maybe I would have stopped after the prequel--given time for reflection--if I hadn't owned the bundle. Truly, I might not read book 2 but for the fact that I already own it in the bundle. On the one hand, I am curious where the author goes now that the "history" is clearly departing from what it would have been if the time travelors had not arrived--twice--and changed history. On the other hand, I am not as hooked as I was after the prequel so my commitment currently extends to reading on through book 2, for better or for worse.
Okay, so what do I know?! The second book in the bundle was much smoother (not awkward) and better written than the previous two books. Are these Young Adult fiction? They seem like it. Now I need to read book 3.
I would rate the first book in the bundle two stars and the second three stars. This averages 2.5 stars so in the generosity of the moment I will give it 3 stars.

It gets 4 stars because I felt like I had to wade through the first book. If I had only gotten the first book, I would have stopped there, because it was mostly a synopsis of what happened over the span of two years.
However, Prince of Time grabbed my attention for a couple of reasons. Namely Bronwyn and Ieuan. I loved them both as characters. It was a very good example of a fish out of water scenario. The issues that were brought up felt fluid and real. Only at one point did it seem unnatural and forced.

Enjoyable time travel historical read
This series came up as a suggested read so I decided to give it a try. I enjoy historical fiction and time travel sci fi so it seemed like something I would enjoy since it blends both genres. This setting and time period (Wales, when Wales ceased being independent) is something I am not familiar with so it was nice to learn something new. The writing is engaging, the plot and premise are interesting, and the characters make me want to continue reading the rest of the series. Well worth the reasonable price, especially in this 2 book bundle.

The first book was footsteps in time. It described too much of their travel and planing of war, battle and fight. I wanted to connect more with the characters. The most interesting part was when Meg went back to Middle Ages and met her children at the beach, then reconnected with Llewelyn.
The second book was much better. David goes back to the 21st century to same one of his man, and he ends up falling in love and bringing Bowen back with him.
You get more feelings from the character, and make a connection with them.
All in all I enjoyed.

I picked up the prequel to this series for free and these first two for $1.99. I've been shocked at how much I enjoyed them. The first book was a little rocky, but starting with book two the series really picks up steam. Enough so that I've felt myself immersed in medieval Wales and have been dreaming about it. All in all enjoyable quick reads

DAMNIT!!!! These books are just too good! They make it impossible for me to do the studying I'm supposed to be doing....GRRRR! Done with Footsteps.... Onto, Winds of Time. :-)

This is how I like time travel: taking knowledge and items from the future to the past, and by changing the past you don't change the future but create a different time line with a new future. Freaky, but so cool!

Really enjoying this series
How do you switch from the 13th century to the 21st and back again and make the characters believable in either setting? That is a real challenge, but this author makes it happen. Definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed this 2 book collection. These books are YA Fantasy, the story starts in modern day and is transported to medieval Wales during a snow storm. It can hold your interest.
